Snowdays are still busy days when you're an animal shelter. Cages cleaned, kitties and pups fed, normal playtime for the kitties all together and time outside for the dogs. And like every other day, play groups went out together, and some made new friends even. We ❤️ new doggy friendships!
Kitties tried out new toys (5/5 stars!), kittens saw TV for the first time - Love is Blind Season 8 just came out ;)
Five (!!) new to us doggos got MUCH needed grooming and they also saw TV for the first time (Kaylee was a big fan! like most reality TV- she just couldn't look away!)
Then foster puppy, Diego (adoption pending?🤞) learned to climb stairs for the first time!
Ringo and Grumpy went around and around today about who was going to win the big game tonight. Referee Zelda said she didn't really care as long as there was snackies.
She was just so thankful that so many donated to support the Superbowl Squares! That's a lot of impawtant food and care for her and her friends. ❤️🥰
Today, the spirit of football was with lots of our shelter pups!
Blakely was practicing her full yard sprints and her tackles. She said she's 100% score some points for whatever team she was one. She wanted to know if there was an NFL team accepting hounds. She'd only like to get paid in treaties. 🏈🤷♀️
Will you be my Valentine?
My name is Vera and I came to the shelter on January 16th, 2025 when some nice person found me wandering alone and got me somewhere warm. Noone ever came looking for me though. 🥺
I'm a sweet Shepherd girl who just wants a family to love. Some things are a little scary, but I put my trust in my people to protect me and teach me. ❤️
Aren't there any shepherd lovers that are missing me in their lives?
I haven't seen any kids since I've been here, but I think I could live with another dog or cats. I'm about 5-6 years old. So no puppy shenanigans.
Can you share me? I'm ready for someone to be my whole world.
To know him is to love him.
Angus wished someone would just get to know him. ❤️ He's a bit of an introvert, and likes who he likes. We accept that in people, but unfortunately forget that dogs don't have to be the life of the party or like everyone they meet.
Angus is 3 1/2 years old neutered male sharpei mix. Angus is looking for a home where he can be the king of the castle - he doesn't want to share with other cats or dogs.
Angus would do best in a home with no kids, but he promises to be your whole world. ❤️
Angus is housebroken, loves to go for walks and is a great kisser.
There's so many diamonds in the ruff, who need a little extra - but they promise that they'll be the most worth it. They'll love you like no other and appreciate the chance that you're giving them. ❤️
668 days without a home is a long time.
#2025willbemyyear
2024 might not have been the year we found a family, but paws crossed 2025 is the year of a new forever family for us. 🐾

Thank you to everyone who made Christmas special for the dogs and cats Ayres home for Christmas 2024.
You're amazing and we are so thankful for you!
*not included was the giant turkey and the veggies they had cooked 🤤*
🎄Dog 25 of Christmas: Judd🎄
Judd is a 2-3 year old neutered male silver lab. He's gaining confidence, learned how to walk on leash, and enjoys pets!
Judd is good with some dogs, but needs to be tested with cats.
This poor guy would like a home where the new dog beds you just get in your stocking don't explode! He says he was just laying on it and then 💥 💥 and fluff everywhere! No doubt he needs a doting family to help him get through this tragedy.
😘🐾
Merry Christmas friends. Keep any eye out tomorrow night for our Christmas video! And thank you SOO much to everyone who donated to make Christmas special for the dogs and cats calling Ayres home this Christmas. You're amazing and we couldn't provide for these animals the way we do, if it wasn't for YOU! 🎄
🎄Day 22 of Christmas: Stella and Selena🎄
These two girls are sisters who are the last of their litter that came to Ayres in October of 2023. Stella and Selena were soo scared of the world but have come around sooo beautifully.
Stella (tabby in the box) loves through her tummy. She is a little shy at first, but her inquisitive mind gets her to explore and check new things out. She now demands attention from volunteers and we can always find her doing silly things.
Selena is much more reserved, but she still loves to have contact. She's such a mama to Stella. Daily you can find her checking on her and going over to clean her. Selena sometimes will be taking a nap somewhere or playing with another cat when it is time to go back and once she realizes she hasn't gotten back in with her sister, or she things you've forgotten her, she has the sweetest little mew to make sure you remember that she needs help getting back in, too. 🥺
Selena and Stella have always been together, they are almost a year and a half years old right now. We'd love for them to be able to spend their forever together if someone was looking to open up their homes and their hearts.
Selena and Stella will take some warming up to a new home, but once they do - we promise they'll be worth it. Full of love, silliness and sometimes even some good ol' sisterly W.W.E wrestling.
