Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter operates as a "quality of life" shelter, and the devoted workers are committed to making sure that every animal in their care has exactly that. In addition, all animals receive all necessary shots, wormings, and other medical treatments. All would-be adoptive families are carefully screened before being allowed to take home any pet. In this way, each adopted animal is assured of a good and loving home.

This sweet senior lady is looking for a couch to spend her golden years! Molly is a nervous Nelly with some things, but with your confidence - is such a brave girl! Molly is good with most dogs and loves her people.

This lady is a about 40 pounds and 12-13 years old. She's a beautiful lady that is dreaming of a final forever family. She rides good in the car. Loves going on walks and being outside (as long as no storm, fireworks or gunshots). But during hunting season this year, as soon as we got her back inside and in her safe crate, she calmed right down instantly which is so amazing for her once she has a place she feels safe and comforted.

So sowwy, I'm a day late and treat short! But my name is Bruno. I'm handsome. My new shelter friends helped get rid of the hundreds of little "friends" hitching a ride in my fur. And no my skin is healing and I'm ready to find my forever family!

I'm still new to the shelter so I haven't told them if I like other dogs or cats yet, but I love people! I'm a 29 pound, 3-4 year old beagle mix looking for a place to rest this handsome head.

Darius is a stunning St Bernard Husky mix who is about 3 years old. Darius is a shy guy who would do best in a home without kids. He has never lived in a home, and most of his life experiences have been since he came to us. Before that, he grew up and lived in a shed with all of his siblings.

Darius needs a patient family that will gain his trust and let him continue to learn how to dog!

Darius is about 60 pounds now, but has so much filling out to do. The hustle and bustle of the the shelter takes its toll on some animals more than others. We've finally got him on a good routine to suite his needs and he's gaining confidence with us. He just needs a chance. Could that be with you?

He's good with most other dogs, and would thrive in a home work a confident dog to show him the ropes. And a fenced in yard.

January is coming up on two years if this beady eyed love muffin calling Ayres home. Carlos is a shy guy, but oh once he loves you - love you he does!

Carlos doesn't trust easily, but he longs for a day he has a couch of his own to live on. Carlos would do best in an adult home - or one with dog savvy teens. Carlos isn't looking to share a home with another dog, but he could potentially live with cats.

Carlos is 3 years old and 60 pounds. He needs a Christmas miracle. Help us make a dream come true for this boy. He deserves this so much! ❤️

Where are our boxer lovers?!

Kayla is a sweet 5 year old boxer girl retired from a life of breeding. This lovely lady is very shy at first, but once she loves you - she does with her whole heart! Kayla is good with most male dogs. She is okay with cats too.

Kayla has gained so much confidence with her people, but will need a patient new owner to help her blossom into the sweet girl we know and love.

Can you help it so that her first reap Christmas might be able to be spend with a forever family?

I came in last January when the kind folks came and rescued me and 30+ other cats from a very dirty house. I understand the shelter isn't a home, but it's the best home I have ever known. I have all the food, comfort, toys, beds, warmth I have ever know. And it's clean!

But I still want someone to meet me and get past my shyness. Because I promise when I let my guard down and know I can trust you, I let all my worries go and let it all hang out. I'm playful. I'm good with some cats. And did I mention I'm handsome?

Reba is a beautiful 2-3 years old female pittie girl looking for her forever family. Shelter life is a lot for her and she's hoping she'll be able to get into a forever family to show them the goofy, beautiful girl we know and love.

Reba loves toys. Loves loves loves them. She's great in the car and she loves people. Reba could live with older kids and is good with some dogs.

We don't know Reba's history as she was found as a stray and noone ever came looking for her. 🥺

She's really hoping for a kennel free Christmas from now until forever for her. ❤️

Zander LOVES to play with other dogs and really is a charming fella! He's playful, silly but ready to find a family and show them how loyal and goofy he can be!

Boo here, saying dogs smogs. Pish posh. We all know cats are where it is at.

Rainy days like today - no big deal for cat owners. There's no walking us outside and getting your toe beans all wet. No ma'am.

Don't like litter boxes because you have to clean up our bathroom? I've seen many a human out the window walking behind their pooch, picking up their 💩's with their hands! And then you have to carry it for the rest of your walk. At least we are dignified enough to have a scoop for that very reason - plus I mean you're scooping it in the warmth of your own home. I'll even help with my affection. 🐾

Another check for the cat column if I do say so myself.

I'm sweet. I'm cuddly. I'm beautiful. I don't make you walk me outside in the cold. I don't drool or slobber. I'm loyal (if you have the canned food.) No wonder my shelter friends let me squeeze in and try my paw at this dog of Christmas business.

My name is Boo. I'm about 8 years old. I'm good with cats. I haven't lived with dogs ever, but I could adjust I'm sure.

Chase is estimated about 2 years old. Been good with the people he has met. Seems okay with dogs, but pending an official dog and cat testing. Hasn't been observed with kids yet.

🎄Dog 9 of Christmas: Roo🎄

Roo is a little lady looking for her forever family. Roo came to shelter not long away from giving birth. She was an amazing mama and her 5 little bernedoodle babies are all getting ready to spend their first Christmas with their pawesome families. Now it's Roo's turn!

Roo is about 2-3 years old and is really learning to love life in a home. Roo is great with other dogs and cats. Roo is very shy at first, but with a patient new family, she'll be your shadow in no time. Roo would benefit from a fenced in yard and confident pup to show her the ropes. She's still working on getting used to a leash, but she's getting there.

Roo really loves her people but needs some extra patience before she'll learn to enjoy the feel of a new person's pets.

We did one of Roo's puppies DNA which was essentially mini bernedoodle - making mama Roo one too. However she doesn't have doodle hair so we don't expect her to be hypoallergenic or require regular haircuts.

🎄Dog 8 of Christmas: Tommy!🎄

Tommy, Thomas, turtle, Tommy tom Tom, whatever you wanna call him, cute is what he is and he's an AH-mazing Standard Poodle looking for a forever family.

Tommy boy us in foster and they are head over heals in love with him, but he's ready to find his forever family. Tommy is about 4 years old and this is the first time he's ever lived in a home. He is very timid meeting new people, but once he loves you boy oh boy are you in for a treat. It's so worth all the patience, and work to gain his trust. Being loved by Mr Tommy is like no other. Pawing at you with excitement. Howling as you come home. Greeting you at the door. Or hugging you with his head and neck around your neck after a long day.

Tommy is great with other dogs and good with cats. He could live with kids who understood to go slow and earn his trust, too.

Tommy will need regular grooming as he is a standard poodle. He is currently about 50 pounds, but continuing to fill out.

Please share Tommy. He's an amazing boy who deserves to know all the good in the world as a part of a family dog. ❤️🐾

Blakely is a beautiful Bluetick coonhound. She's sweet, silly and playful. But she doesn't let new people see it at first. Blakely is very timid, and would benefit from a fenced in yard and a patient home to teach her all the good that a family has to offer. ❤️

Blakely is good with some dogs and may be good with cats. She's 2-4 years old and currently about 46 pounds with more room to fill in.

Blakely has the signature hound bark, and those wonderful hound ears. She's hoping that she'll spend probably her first real Christmas as part of a hound loving family! ❤️

🎄Dog 6 of Christmas: Trace🎄

Trace came to us in July as a stray! This handsome guy was in pretty rough shape from a flea allergy, but now he's feeling his best and ready to impress a new family into loving him!

Trace wants to thank his friends at Max and Neo for helping him look as dapper as he could, with their bowtie and pawesome collars! They also sent the best Christmas box with new leashes and collars for the dogs of Ayres!

Trace is 2 to 3 years old and good with some dogs. Trace hasn't actually been tested with cats, but he would do best with older kids.

Trace is a guy who hasn't had a single visit. No interest. No buttscratches from someone looking to adopt. Nothing! Trace loves people! He loves toys. He is a really great guy looking for you!

Hey new friends! I've been working on my puppy dog eyes - are they working?! 🥺 I even got dressed in my most handsomest Christmas sweater.

My name is Arnold and I'm a little bit of a shy guy but I'm learning to be a cuddle muffin! I'm good with other small dogs that I've met, I haven't been introduced to larger dogs yet, but can be. I am pretty new to the shelter, still. I haven't lived in a home before so I might need some basic training, I don't want to scratch my own butt, but I think I'm pretty smart!

I've learned to really love snuggles- and I'm excited to learn more about what all my friends here tell me family life is like!

Can you share me and hope that someone doesn't realize they are missing a handsome, 16 pound, 5 year old Jack Russell? ☺️

🎄 Dog 3 of Christmas: Codi 🎄 Codi is still pretty new to us, but we can tell you that this 6 year old Boxer (cavalier) mix is a TOTAL LOVE BUG 🐞. Sneaking kisses and always, I mean always wanting to be sitting touching you. Codi has lived with cats, but we are told is dog selective. We haven't pushed that yet, but once we do will update. Codi hasn't lived with young kids. But just really has seemed to LOVE people. Codi loves playing in the snow, but would be such a phenomenal cuddle buddy, too. He is the whole package. Codi is just looking for a family that will provide more than just the basic care - he finally knows he deserves a family that will love him for him and live every day showing him the good and the happy in the world. 🥰 This guy is about 60 pounds of love. Housebroken. Crate trained. And ready to meet you!

Duke here with my new friends Zelda and Ringo. We love playing together, but I hope someone sees my adorableness (or theirs) and realizes what they are missing in their lives. Tomorrow, Saturday 9/14 from 9 am until 4 pm right at the shelter, we will be having a "Clean us out" Yard sale! We have leftovers from last weeks Yard Sale and we don't want to pack it all up! Jewelry, kids stuff, dog clothes, books, dvds, and miscellaneous goodies. There will be a donation box and table and you can name your price. We just want stuff to go to new homes where it'll be appreciated. ♥
