🚨 National Poison Prevention Week: Keep Exotic Pets Safe! 🚨

The third week of March is National Poison Prevention Week, a reminder to protect your pets from common household toxins! 🏠🐾 Exotic companion mammals are especially vulnerable to poisoning from everyday items due to their curious nature, small size, and ability to reach places they shouldn't!

Toxic Household Hazards:
🛑 Medications – Human & pet meds, including anti-inflammatories, antibiotics and others.
🛑 Cleaning products – Bleach, disinfectants, and laundry pods.
🛑 Pesticides & fertilizers – Rodenticides, slug bait, insect sprays and herbicides.
🛑 Toxic foods – Chocolate, avocado, xylitol, onions, garlic
🛑 Houseplants – Lilies, philodendrons, pothos, oleander and cycads.

Prevention Tips:
✔️ Store medications & chemicals out of reach
✔️ Keep food & plants species-safe
✔️ Use pet-safe cleaners

🆘 If your pet shows any unusual symptoms or you suspect exposure to a toxin, call your vet immediately. Take note of your closest 24-hour veterinary hospital in case of emergencies. Prevention and quick action save lives!
