Weightpull training is more than hooking up and dragging stuff. So this morning Sherry Gile and I 'practiced' the crating, waiting, harnessing, hooking, waiting for judges say-so, positioning on the track, dragging, unharnessing, and some more waiting parts.

Impromptu Fall Meetup @ Wayeh Sunday or Tuesday-Wednesday 11/10 or 11/11-13/24. I have to work Monday after all.

Plan is to tear down the old chicken coop and reclaim the materials and space for the dogs; clean up the driveway for the new shed prep; and brush dogs. Come for an hour, come for a day, happy to see you for any amount of time. Bring work gloves and clothes that hair won't stick to.

Sweetheart Grayson's new home fell through. He is a 1yo, 70 # normal-coat, gray Alaskan Malamute male, fully vetted and lives peacefully with his aunt and great-grandma, letting them set the rules. Even at mealtimes.

Adoption fee $250, but if you choose to complete a basic, group obedience class (like PetSmart or similar) with him, I will refund the fee up to the cost of the class. Obedience classes are that important. They fix the small things before they become little things. They create communication channels. And they form a bond that nothing else does in quite the same way.

First weight pull in too many years and took my novice dog. Wow, first time out and he was outstanding, nose to toes and driving for home.

So.... A little while ago we had a big wind that twisted a GIANT tree off about 13' up and plopped it onto my run-in shed. Took aim and center massed all three bays of the run-in shed, and the stand alone shed next to that.

The tree was suspended by the shed about 4' in the air in the shed, so I left it the heck alone until it finished falling to the ground. Took some time.

And happened to open a hole in the shed wall that dogs could go out of. Not good.

So I started the cleanup process, even though only half the tree has finished falling to the ground. Goal is to fence off the front of the shed so dogs don't go in there and/or get out into the free world.

Redid the downhill kennel tarps, solids underneath 90% shade mesh - the mesh holding the solids down during wind events... Or that's the plan. Did a trial run on one section of the uphill kennels 2 years ago and it's still perfect. I think because it's sandwiched and can't flop in the wind.

92°F today, real feel 102°F, but 82°F under the new kennel roofs. And breezier than without the solids.

Fingers crossed.

Available: a Big girl with Big emotions DREMA, gray Malamute female b. 2020, she didn't work out for breeding and is looking for a couch or a fenced-in yard with a companion to retire to.

She will be spayed before leaving but is up to date on everything else. She met Dr. Matt & Sierra today for a checkup and got yelled at by a terrorist (terrier) as we came in, so she kept sniffing under the door.

She has always lived with her mother Mensa, and another male Malamute and is never the instigator. Can't say the same about her mother or the various other males she has lived with.

Available: sweet, tender, female, red agouti, Malamute Cedar, b. 2020. She is retired from breeding and looking for a couch. She is already spayed, AVID microchipped, on heartworm/flea/tick prevention, and today went to the vet to update her Rabies & annual booster.

Dr. Matt & Sierra took care of her and she explored the exam room, but decided the floor was better than the window bench and told us all about it.

(She also has sons available whom she lives with.)

Love-sponge Gypsy came back to Wayeh and needs a new home.

6yo, 94 # (should be 80 #), long-coat, sable, spayed, HW/fecal/tick disease negative, microchipped, thyroid normal & recently professionally groomed: her rehoming fee is $300 to cover her vet bill.

Application, contract, & fenced-yard (or a really good plan to exercise her 3x/day rain or shine or heat or sleet or ice or even when you are sick or on crutches.)

A successful applicant will:

*Meet her here first.

*Understand that rehomed dogs may need WEEKS to develop trust and faith in their new family.

*Commit to professional grooming if they get behind on grooming that magnificent Farrah Faucet coat.

*Puppy-proof their home first.

*Separate their adult male dog from her for 2 weeks, one inside/one outside, one upstairs/one downstairs, one crated/one loose, SO THAT when they meet under strict, calm supervision, theyl dogs think, oh, aren't you that other dog who lives here--instead of PUPPY!PUPPY! PUPPY! Because adrenaline makes mammals make mistakes.

&

*Be willing to attend a public, group, basic- obedience class like PetSmart ASAP to develop this trust relationship between dog and human (rehoming fee will be refunded up to the cost of this class upon successful completion of said class.)

TD x Cedar's AVAILABLE boys from the HEROS litter (born 1/24) helped me burn the brush pile this morning. Ok, they stayed far away, I burned brush, and we took breaks to practice our group sits and group sings to the crackling sound of a big campfire.

Practicing group sits & downs with the AVAILABLE boys on my day off. Loving my new job, hating that the work hours take away so much time with the dogs and my sledteam dreams for these handsome fellas.

Clear all debris I could by hand.

Use the DeWalt 20v 12" saw, which was a lot more than recommended by Sir DeWalt to remove branches and logs inside the yard and across the outer drive path.
