Our Story
Ellingson Elevator represents four generations of local ag service.
We sell trusted Nutrena and Kent feeds for commercial operations and pets. We work with Cargill animal nutrition to balance rations for dairy, beef, swine, and equine.
We also custom-mix feeds, including organic and GMO-free rations.
Our old-school, specialty facilities and experience allow us to do what the big guys can't (or won't).
Wondering if we could mix and deliver your feed more cost-effectively? Just ask.
We'll have your order ready on-time, every time, at the price we agreed on.
Our facilities, located at 100 1st St NW in downtown Spring Grove, Minnesota, include three structures now listed on the National Register of Historic Places for their value to our community's history:
Sylling & Myrah Elevator (built 1885)
Farmers Union Elevator (built 1887)
Spring Grove Stock & Grain Company (built 1900)
The business of small-grain milling and feed supply has been in the Ellingson family since Oliver Ellingson (grandfather of most-recent owner Dean Ellingson) got involved in 1938. Dean apprenticed in the business under his father, Oren, and continued to run it independently until January 2016.
The elevator is now operated by owners Ryan and Kristine Jepsen of Dorchester, Iowa, Spring Grove native Christian Myrah, and Travis and Michelle Schullo, also of Dorchester, Iowa.
Dean Ellingson and long-time operations associate Bruce Johnson continue to provide valuable service and operational advice as new manager Josh Mattson learns the ropes. We anticipate that it will take another decade to dust off the last bit of their systemic knowledge!
