We at Dead One Customs have been seeing all kinds of âFALSE & MISLEADINGâ posts on Facebook, regarding Operational Functionality, Dependability and other MIS-UNDERSTOOD information with the Dead One Customs âESC Unitâ (Electrical System Controller), We would simply like to clear up ALL of this âFALSE & MISLEADINGâ information ONCE AND FOR ALL
In 2004, BDM, LLC had started experiencing very many electrical failures with the motorcycles that they produced. These electrical failures were the root cause to many accidents, in which many operators were very seriously injured and some were even killed! Over many years of these electrical failures and the inability of BDM, LLC to correctly identify, locate and rectify the actual electrical problem(s); BDM, LLC was constantly dealing w/ accident and damage lawsuits, prior to their going out of business in 2010/2011.
In 2007, Dead One Customs was the âFIRSTâ to properly and fully identify the actual electrical fault(s) in the BDM electrical system and develop the âONLYâ bulletproof remedy for the infamous BDM Headlight Failure issue. We at Dead One Customs have seen where others in todayâs world have tried to COPY our remedies in this area. SADLY, due to cost saving modifications and their lack of factual electrical knowledge, their remedy kits will fail, as well. So use caution!
In 2008, the Dead One Customs âESC Unitâ (Electrical System Controller) was the âSECONDâ BDM replacement controller system to be introduced on the market. It was primarily designed as a TOTAL & PERMANENT RESOLUTION to ALL of the electrical faults/failures within the BDM Electrical System. It was the âFIRSTâ to be â100% Plug-N-Playâ! The ESC Unit was âFar Superiorâ to its predecessor, the Wire-Plus System, a hard wired installation.
Dead One Customs was also the âFIRSTâ to identify other electrical defective design flaw(s) causing electrical failures within the BDM Electrical System. Dead One Customs has been the ONLY aftermarket replacement controller system to develop proper remedies to fully resolve ALL of these electrical failure issue(s) that BDM, LLC could not figure out. The Dead One Customs âESC Unitâ (Electrical System Controller) definitely resolves all issues.
The âESC Unitâ can easily replace the BDM EHC, the BDM PDM/HCI, and ANY/ALL of the other aftermarket controller systems which are also very prone to electrical failures. Ie: The Wire Plus unit, the RIP/RIP2 and Elektronic Box (German version EHC).
The âESC Unitâ replacement controllers are âcustom built in houseâ by Dead One Customs, per customer request for ALL BDM applications.
All Dead One Customs âESC Unitsâ incorporate the following features:
- The âESC Unitsâ are built using the most up-to-date electronic design methods and products.
- The âESC Unitâ replacement controller system was the first to PROPERLY interface, âPlug-N-Playâ, with all of the BDM models, including the BDM EFI models!
- The âESC Unitâ is the âonlyâ replacement system built to resolve ALL of the inherent BDM factory electronic/electrical design flaws causing electrical failure issues. (Electrical Gremlins)
- The âESC Unitâ is built to meet or exceed the requirements for every year and model BDM produced.
- The âESC Unitâ is built to meet or exceed the requirements for EVERY Euro version BDM produced.
- The âESC Unitâ is built to meet or exceed the requirements for EVERY factory option BDM offered.
- The âESC Unitâ is the âONLYâ replacement controller system which will support the BDM factory Air Ride operating controls via the factory hand controls.
- The âESC Unitâ is the âONLYâ replacement system which can offer an âall internalâ Battery/Charging system Fault Light. This option is proprietary to Dead One Customs.
- All âESC Unitsâ are the âONLYâ replacement controller system that are completely and thoroughly tested for proper operation many times during the build process and once again after completion, prior to shipment.
All âESC Unitsâ come with written instructions and pictures to ensure ease of installation. Dead One Customs offers phone support Monday through Friday from 9AM to 5Pm EST. 804-706-9664
All âESC Unitsâ are supported with a 1 Year Warranty against manufacture defects.
Dead One Customs has built over â7000â ESC Units, worldwide, with a âZEROâ failure rate!
Many of the other aftermarket systems have tried to imitate the âESC Unitâ âŚbut âNONEâ have been able to duplicate the âESC Unitsâ Factory Operational Functionality, Performance Dependability and/or Durability.
Our devotion to âPerfectionâ is what makes the Dead One Customs ESC Units âBULLETPROOFâ and the #1 most recommended BDM replacement controller system on the market!

We are attaching just a sample of our customer reviews:
- Badyellowvette:
âAfter searching for an electrical problem on my K9 my ECH started smoking I decided to go with a new ESC unit. I first pulled out the screwed up BDM wiring harness and controller.
Installed the ESC unit in the same location as stock ECH. Plugged all connectors with dielectric grease. All wires with the new branch harnesses are labeled. A complete full colored wire diagram show what function each plug goes to, very simple.
Ran main harness through the backbone and plugged in all branch circuit connections with a dab of dielectric grease. The ESC comes with a completely new braided steel headlight wire with ceramic plug. It gets rid of that three feet of coiled up wire in the 08 K9 headlight bucket.
Used the included zip ties to bundle up the wire harness.
Zip tied the backbone harness and wrapped it up in the under tank cover on the backbone.
All stock functions work perfect. I did go with the electrical system monitor also. I haven't even had the dreaded starter clunk since.â
- Badyellowvette:
âSo far I have not had the starter clunk, past three days been riding a lot. Everything is working great. Bike is running better than ever.â
- Ker:
âI went with DOC's 6- 7 years ago and its totally worth it, the RIP 2 still uses the desk top connector and does not address the head light wiring issue. And the way the wiring harness is prepared is far better than the RIP. One of the moderators on the failing forum installed both the Rip and DOC's units and he told me DOC's quality is far beyond the RIP. Not to mention DOC's customer service is outstanding.â
- DrRx:
âInstalled another Dead One Customs ESC unit on my second big dog and wouldn't get anything else. It's hand made to fit the specific bike. Battery charging monitoring system. Runs my air ride suspension. A true plug in play system. No splicing at all. Waterproof and worth every minute and penny took to install it. Any problem and Jeff who makes it walks you thru any issue till it's taken care of. Great product and great live support from Dead One Customs.â
- DrRx:
âDead One Customs ESC Unit is bullet proof and do get the charging indicator option. It will save your ass and worth it. Low charging system and overcharging system it will let you know. Told me my VR was going out before it completely went out.â
- Barnes Performance Cycles:
âToday I received and installed this nice new Dead One Customs ESC electrical harness controller into the 2007 Bulldog EFI. I must say that this by far is the nicest controller on the market. With being the easiest to install, a TRUE plug and play, very clear directions along with everything being clearly marked, the construction of the unit and harness is beautifully done with very little electrical tape used (A+ in my book) Absolutely no comparison between this unit and the KMW RIP kit. The Dead One Customs kit is hands down the way to go.â
- Tracy H. W.:
âDOC IS THE BEST spend the extra!â
- Michael M.:
âI do know that the EHC #58 module from WSW did/does have an issue. Axel was trying to figure out what was failing last I heard. Pretty sure something was failing when the starting cycle was initiated. I would say go with Jeff @ DOC for plug/play ehc. Worth every penny!!â
