Muddy horses
Yes they suck.
75% of the time nothing can be done about the working conditions
The other 25%. However.
If you have a barn and a stall.
And you have a set farrier appointment there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to have a mud covered horse.
Those are the people who get under their farriers skin and ultimately have to find another one

Avoid unnecessary lunging in circles and trotting up the black top drive way as a lameness assessment.

If you want to do a proper lameness exam. Sneak out into the pasture and spook him.
If he’s lame you’ll know.

6 months into a post abcess recovery.
When I met this horse she was on stall rest for months including daily wrapping and soaking.

In one shoeing appointment she was turned out again

The third appointment she is back to full work making kids smile.

Watched a person ground work their horse for less time than I did two trims including getting them out of the stall.
Then proceed to bathe the horse longer than it takes me to trim two horses.

I feel bad for her farrier. (Leather pads and size 3 aluminum)

It ain’t me.
