HERO Alum Benji reminding everyone that rescue pups make great family pups, even with those little ones! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿถ

So often we see people giving away dogs in prep for a new human to the family or looking for a breed cause they have kids, but take it from us, rescues make great siblings to humans! ๐Ÿฅฐ

From Benjiโ€™s mom: โ€œBenji was SUCH a gentleman. He came up all excited but STOPPED about two feet away and waited to be INVITED over to the baby. I called him over and his little tail went straight up to the sky and he started his sniffs! After a minute or so he took a step back and just laid his head down staring at his new brother friend. He's so instinctively respectful and gentle!โ€ ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

Huckleberry just loves to play with every pup & person he meets and is dreaming of a home of his own with a fur sibling or two to play with! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™

This weekend Huck also went on an adventure with his foster mom to Lowes & Tractor Supply where he enjoyed getting to meet new people & get some extra loving in.

Huck is a young hound boy around 1 yr old, fully vetted, crate trained and leash trained. Huck is very dog friendly, but would probably chase cats hoping to play with them.

After a fall from a truck, Huck lost one of his front legs, but this does not slow him down in the least.

Huck does great in a car, loves going on new adventures and meeting new people. He has also been sweet with children, but does not currently live with any. As a young, energetic hound, slightly older kids may be better due to the possibility of him knocking over little ones on accident or at least a big dog savvy home.

Huckleberry had so much interest when we posted him last, but no applications yet. ๐Ÿคฏ

Huck is in East TN, but transport will be arranged for the right family. Apply at HEROHounds.org/adopt to be the lucky family that gets to call Huckleberry family!

Welcome our newest little senior medical girl Mabel to HERO! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™

Thanks to Cherie & her husband, HERO was able to spring Mabel, aka May, from Brownsville (we still need fosters for the 2 young boys there) & can now see the extent of her medical needs.

Mabel has several mammary tumors along her chest & belly which look cancerous & will need to be removed to ensure her a long life, but for now, she is just happy to be indoors, sleeping on soft beds & getting the love she deserves.

If you can open your home to a foster beagle, there are 2 young boys in Brownsville TN who need out ๐Ÿ™โ€ฆwe also have a long list of other beagles & hounds needing fosters & homes. ๐Ÿถ

Itโ€™s the weekend & time to remind everyone that we can use fosters! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™โค๏ธ

We know it is the holidays and everyone is super busy, but it is also that time of year that shelters get so many surrendered dog & dumped dogs as certain owners dump old pups to prepare for puppies or dumper dogs they โ€œcanโ€™t affordโ€ to spend money on other items, or the weather gets cold and they decide their outside dog deserves betterโ€ฆwhatever the reason, there are so many beagles and hounds in need ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™

Tomorrow we will be posting as many as we can of our pups available for adoption on our page who can use a forever home or even fosters to continue to help them grow! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ˜

The 2 beagles (black & tan is possibly a beagle/basset mix) are in a rural West TN shelter and can use fosters asap to help them on their journey to the good dog life. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™

Introducing our first adoptable pups in Ontario, Canada: Ladybird and Dale. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ

Ladybird & Dale are well socialized and confident pups who love all the people they meet. They get along well with their foster dog siblings. Anytime they have noticed my cat, they look at her curiously and are easily redirected with treats. They have never approached her. They are very sweet with my three kids and other kids they have met.

These two love each other & play frequently throughout the day. They still thoroughly enjoy affection from humans, including children, and their tails wag when you look at them.

Unlike many strays, they were both already house broken, knew sit, paw, and come when they arrived with me. They have now learned to sit and wait until being told it is okay to go to their food bowls in the kitchen and to come through the door into the house. In true hound form, they are food motivated.

They are a pleasure to have around as they are very happy and well-mannered dogs. They don't jump up and they aren't clumsy, so they would be fine in a home with children of any age.

We believe Ladybird is a Plott and Dale is a Black Mouth Cur, but Embark DNA results are pending. You can tell by Ladybird's belly that she did have puppies at some point before she was found & we wonder if Dale was the dad.

They can be adopted separately, but they have been through quite an adventure together, and as someone who has adopted a bonded pair, I can say from experience, it can be easier than adopting one. They tire each other out playing, and they always have each other's company when you're at work. If they are adopted separately, it is preferred they go to a home with at least one other playful dog so they can continue with their current activity levels.

They are fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered and healthy.

If you are interested in adoption, please submit an application at Herohounds.org/adopt

Please share to help them find their forever home!

Why foster? Because of every day, even today while I am struggling thru a winter cold, is better with a lap full of love. ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ˜

This time of year is rough on rescues, shelters are busting at the seams, most (like HERO) have no available fosters and adoptions are slow ๐Ÿฅบ

Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday, so if you canโ€™t foster please give to a local rescue.
