This time of year is rough on rescues, shelters are busting at the seams, most (like HERO) have no available fosters and adoptions are slow 🥺

Just look at this sweet face in his Santa jacket! If anyone deserves a cozy couch and a forever family for the holidays, it’s Red. ❤️

Red is a young, energetic, and full of the kind of joy that makes life brighter — the perfect stocking stuffer for someone’s heart.

It’s Thanksgiving day & HERO needs a foster hero for Juniper! 🙏🐾💜🙏

Juniper is only about a year old & was pulled off the euthanasia list in East TN. We had a foster, but the foster is not experienced and has requested we move Juniper ASAP.

Juniper has loved playing with the other young dog around her same size, but has shown some resource guarding issues with the larger older dogs in the house. Juniper needs an experience foster who can help redirect this behavior while she is young & help get gain confidence around larger dogs.

We don’t have the money for boarding, so we are begging for a foster who can help Juniper. Will you be that HERO?

Meet Huckleberry – The Adoptable Hound of the Week

Huckleberry Hound is a resilient and loving dog who overcame a difficult beginning to become the wonderful companion he is today. His early life was challenging, marked by irresponsible owners who neglected his safety. This is when Huck fell from the back of a moving truck, resulting in a severe injury to his right leg. Due to the extent of the damage & length of time left untreated, his leg had to be amputated

Post-Opt & now a tripod, Huckleberry is thriving! He finally gets to play without pain. He is an incredibly social and adaptable dog, enjoying playtime with every canine he meets, regardless of size.

Huckleberry is an all-around good boy with a zest for life. He is completely housebroken and enjoys the simple pleasures: going for walks, riding in the car, and, of course, receiving treats.

He gets along famously with children and shows no mind to cats, making him an ideal family pet.

With a spirit that shines brightly despite his past trauma, Huckleberry's positive attitude is infectious. He's a true entertainer who will even sing a song and do a little dance to bring joy to those around him.

Huckleberry is located in East Tennesee and is available for adoption through HERO Hound Rescue. Transportation can be arranged for an approved adopter. Contact the organization for further information.

HERO Hound Adoptables Benjamin, Greta, Blanche & Daisy enjoyed a spaw day in preparation for Thanksgiving! 😍🐾💅🦃

HERO has so many amazing adoptable dogs right now of all ages who would love to spend their holidays with a forever family!

Benjamin is a young redtick hound mix who just wants to be the center of attention, he is dog friendly, but would also be an amazing only dog as he just wants his people 24/7. Benjamin just needs a family who wants to take him on some long walks, feed him some great meals and cuddle on the couch for movie night.

Greta is an older hound mix girl who has been with HERO for over a year even though she is a perfect chill hound companion. She is well-mannered and enjoys a relaxing environment where she can live simply on a comfy couch.

Blanche may look older due to her greying snout, but she is a healthy 5-6 yrs young. Blanche is an active her who enjoys playing with the younger dogs in the house and going to doggy daycare. She also loves her people and is always excited for treats, pets and cuddles.

Daisy is a beagle/lab mix (aka she looks just like a lab but beagle sized) who was surrendered when her mom had to enter a nursing home. She has been well-loved since she was a puppy and is just looking for a nice quiet home to spend the rest of her life on soft beds, good meals & lots of pets, cuddles and love. Daisy would also do well as an only pup & would make a great companion for an older person or couple. Daisy turned 11 on Halloween! 🎃🐾🥰

When it rains it pours…meet Barney Fuzz who is currently on his way to an ER Vet in Alabama with breathing issues 🥺🐾🙏

Barney Fuzz was supposed to leave on transport today to head to partners NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue, Inc. but when they went to pick him up he was hardly able to breath & had vomited all over himself 💔.

November is Senior Dog month & HERO has many senior beagles looking for a furever home for the holidays including Weston, Bo, Charlie& Buddy 😍🐾💙💙💙💙

All of these boys are dog friendly, sweet beagles who love lounging, loving and treats.

Weston is a great boy with a huge personality being goofy, funny & loving. He is smart and curious. Loves to be near his person, and curl up on the bed or couch with them.

Bo is our oldest boy around 15 yrs old and just needs cozy home with people who want to love on him & give him plenty of cuddles & treats.

Charlie is a happy energetic senior boy who loves to play with his foster beagle siblings so would be best in a home with another happy playful older beagle.

Buddy is looking for a foster as he needs some vetting completed prior to adoption. He lives for treats, likes to relax in his bed, he loves getting love when he wants it. Buddy isn’t a big fan of being picked up though, but will always come for a treat.

The absolutely dreamy Huckleberry would love a furever family for holidays! 😍🐾🙏

Huck is hound perfection! He is playful, loving, goofy. He loves everyone & every dog he meets…by love, we mean he meets a new person or pup with a tail wag & immediately hopes they plan to play with him. 🥰

Huck dreams of a family with playmates to run around the yard with, maybe some kids who will wear him out or an avid runner or hiking buddy?

Huck is a tripod, losing one of his front legs due to an accident prior to rescue, but it does not slow him down in the least. In fact, since his amputation, Huck is feeling much better & is more eager to play!

Huck is fully vetted & healthy. He is house & crate trained. He is good on a leash & in the car. Great with other dogs of all sizes, but might want to avoid cats unless they love to play & wrestle with bigger pups.

Huck is in East TN but transport will be arrange for the right home.

Meet Red — our lovable foster pup with a big heart and an even bigger zest for life!

Red was rescued by HERO Hound Rescue from a high-kill shelter in East Tennessee, and this sweet boy is now safe, vetted, and so ready to find his forever family.

A little bit about Red:

🐕 High-energy sweetheart: Red is young, playful, and LOVES to burn off energy. He’d thrive with another playful dog or would be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as an only dog.

🚶‍♂️ Adventure buddy: Walks, runs, hikes — he is HERE for it!

📚 Working on manners: We’re practicing better leash walking and curbing his counter-surfing curiosity.

👶 Kid-friendly: Great with young children!
🐱 Cat curious: He just wants to sniff — no aggression at all, just nose-first curiosity.

Red is a happy, goofy, energetic pup who just wants someone to love him, play with him, & help him continue learning good manners. He will make an amazing companion for an active home.
