In February, Opal will be with HERO for a year & we don’t understand how this sweet girl hasn’t found her own person to give her endless pets & love 🥰🐾🙏💜

Opal is a senior gal who loves to spend her days in the yard watching the trees for birds & squirrels. When inside she is a couch pup all the way & will stretch out or curl ip next to her foster mom looking for love.

She is calm 90% of the day, but gets very excited for meal times and will dance and sing until she has been fed 😅. Opal also gets excited for deliveries and visitors even though she is shy at first when they try to give her love.

She is great with all dogs, but does prefer to be the Queen Bee with other females. She does well with out toddler but does get upset sometimes when he is being too wild and will hide or bark to let him know he should calm down. So a home with older, calmer children would be preferred.

Opal is currently in Greensboro, NC & due to being shy with new people, we would love to find her a home nearby for a smooth transition.

Sweet, pint-size Murphy is officially looking for his furever family! 🥰🐾💙

Murphy is a 9 year young, 20ish lbs beagle boy with beautiful light brown eyes who loves using his beagle voice. In the mornings, Murphy greets his howl to let them know he managed to go all night without cuddles and is desperate for more attention 😅.

While Murphy lives wit several other dogs & cats, we think he would be best as an only dog as he tends to avoid the foster pack of beagles. He absolutely loves human attention and spends his days following closing behind his foster mom. At noght, he loves to cuddle right next to his foster mom all night.

Despite his small size, he’s definitely a chow hound, eager for his breakfast and dinner, and anything he can talk you out of in between meals. He really enjoyed hanging out while making & baking Christmas cookies

Murphy is good with kids, but he has not been around toddlers. His coat is so soft, that it is easy to give into petting him all day.

Murphy came to HERO after his first mom passed away & he was mostly a outdoor dog. So when he came to his HERO foster home, it took nearlt 3 weeks to quit marking, but now he always goes out the doggie door on his own, but would need a family who understands some level of potty training and/or male wraps while he adjusts to a new home.

Our newest intake Izzy started coughing heavily last night which continued into today. The bad news is she has bronchitis 😢 & a couple tick-borne diseases.

The good news is she is heartworm negative! 🙌 and she has gained weight!

Izzy was supposed to be spayed tomorrow, but we will give her time to heal to ensure her body is strong & ready for surgery.

Izzy’s visit came with an expected extra cost of $279 to close out the year which we would love your help covering!

More Happy Howliday News as we get to announce that HERO Rocky’s foster home is officially is furever home!

Rocky came to HERO after having to be trapped in Kentucky. Failed for so long by humans, that even with a broken leg, Rocky wouldn’t look to humans for help 💔.

Once trapped, Beth and her family offered to foster Rocky who had a long road to recovery both physically & mentally. Slowly winning his trust & love, Beth saw Rocky thru his leg amputation and recovery (which wasn’t easy as Rocky insisted on chewing his “nub” regularly).

A month later, Rocky is healed physically and still working on his mental recovery thanks to his foster family and fur siblings. Together, they take walks and hikes, they snuggle in dog beds and in front of the fireplace and together are showing Rocky what it means to be part of the pack & most importantly a furever family 🥰

Adoptable Canada HERO pups Ladybird & Dale got their DNA Results & What a surprise!! 🤯

Ladybird is Dale’s mom 🥹🐾💕

No wonder they are so bonded! 🥰

We would love to find these two socialized and confident hounds a home together! They love all the people, kids & pups they meet. Dale is especially fond of his foster human siblings, but they both do great with them.

They love each other and they play frequently throughout the day. They still thoroughly enjoy affection from humans, including children, and their tails wag when you look at them.

They are house broken and know sit, sit & wait, paw, and come. Both are food motivated, so we are sure they can learn so much more.

We believe Ladybird to be 3ish & Dale about 1. ikely between 1 and 2. They are fully vaccinated, spayed and neutered.

They can be adopted separately, but they have been through quite an adventure together, and as someone who has adopted a bonded pair, I can say from experience, it can be easier than adopting one. They tire each other out playing, and they always have each other's company when you're at work. If they are adopted separately, it is preferred they go to a home with at least one other playful dog so they can continue with their current activity levels.

Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas to all and a special Howliday Gotcha Day to Maverick & his furever family! 😍🎄🐾🎁🎉

Maverick traveled from Alabama to Nebraska to spend Christmas with his furever family thanks to some amazing volunteer transporters! 🥰

Maverick came to HERO in 2023 as just a little puppy, he was adopted, but life changes sent him back to us this summer. To get to know him again & help him get over a few fears, Maverick went to a couple foster homes while we waited for the perfect forever home.

Then a previous adopter reached out looking for a companion for their pup & family after losing their HERO Alum. Maverick had all the characteristics they were looking for in a beagle and family member 🙌.

Foster or Furever Home wanted for sweet, gorgeous Treeing Walker Patsy! 😍🐾💜🙏

Patsy is a 3-4 yrs, healthy hound girl who loves her new life as an inside hound. She prefers to be in the house, even if it means being in a crate, but like all hounds wants to be with her people or her pack.

Patsy is also housetrained, letting her foster know she needs to go out. As soon as she has done her business, she is ready to come in & will jump a fence to check out other entrances if you don't let her in right away 😅.

Patsy has no spent a lot of time around other dogs or cats, but when around them, she doesnt pay much attention to them.

Patsy’s foster mom has been helping her recover from an infection & gain weight, but she needs surgery very soon and won’t be able to care for Patsy so we are looking for a family who will continue to help her gain weight & enjoy the good pup life!

Let’s welcome another beautiful senior beagle girl to HERO, Bunny 😍🐾💜

Bunny is a shy timid beagle girl who thanks to fosters Cheri & her husband, we were able to get out of a West TN shelter quickly so she could begin her healing journey.

While scared of people, Bunny does love having beagle foster siblings, a patient family to give her love, and so many warm comfy spots to relax in while she learns to trust people.

While Bunny is doing well in her foster home, she still has a long way to go. We have to get her fully vetted & help her overcome her fear of going potty outside. We know from experience that with time, she will embrace the good life. 🥰

East TN foster needed for this handsome redbone mix boy! 🙏🐾💙🎄

His time was up at 12noon , so we pulled him into boarding to save his life, but would love to get him into a foster home for Christmas! 🙏

We don’t know much about him yet other than he is bigger at 55-60lbs, did well when kenneled with a hound mix puppy & road well in the car on the way to boarding.

We have a lot of new beagle faces to welcome to HERO starting with sweet Izzy! 😍🐾💜

Izzy is an older gal who was found in Kentucky dirty, flea infested, skinny, and her nails had curled into her paw pads. She was completely defeated.

Luckily she was found by an amazing family who took her in, fed her, bathed her, trimmed her nails and most importantly loved her.

Thanks to foster Riley, Izzy is going to continue to gain confidence, receive love and groceries and vetting needed to get Izzy ready for a furever home of her own.

Help us welcome Izzy to the HERO Family where she will always know love & the good life! 🥰
