Just a reminder to parents thinking about getting a bunny or chick this Easter. Think before you buy, adopt when available from a shelter & please don’t get any pet that you can’t dedicate the time & money to. If you have your heart set on surprising your family with a bunny this Easter I think a great solution is to see if a shelter will let you foster a bunny instead. This is a great opportunity to still be able to surprise your family with that Easter bunny and also help a shelter in need. Then you the ability to see what care is required, the cost of care, have a bunny friend without the long commitment, & gives you time to decide if making that 10 year + commitment is right for your family. Happy hoppy & have a great Easter!
With Easter just around the corner, it’s time to bring out this meme we made again.
Rabbits p**p 200-300 pellets a day.
A cage is far too small for them.
Rabbits can spray p*e if unfixed.
Biting? Rabbits have 28 teeth and bite to deglove.
They live 8-12 years.
Rabbits are classified as exotic animals due to how quickly G.I. Stasis can kill them without intervention.
Spaying and neutering rabbits typically ranges from $200-$600.
They’re prey animals, so DON’T like to be cuddled.
Carrots are actually like candy bars for them…not a staple in their diet.
They’re incredible pets but not something that can be purchased on a whim. They take tons of dedication and work. It’s an 8-12 year commitment and you can expect to spend around $500 on hay (minimum) a year.
Still think they’re a good Easter gift?
We’re not opposed to having rabbits as pets, but opposed to irresponsibly purchasing them without proper education.
