This is a bittersweet week at HHFA.

For well over 20 years, Shelly Shanty has been at the helm of our incredible, talented, compassionate and (yes) sometimes wacky clinic.

Last week we held her "goodbye" dinner.

This Friday, she will sail off (in case you couldn't guess from the really bad metaphors she's as talented on sailboats as she as at the clinic) into her new, incredibly bright future.

Retirement is something she's considered for awhile and wants to enjoy while she is still so youthful and vibrant.

Shelley: We will all miss you terribly, though we know you will continue to be part of our family -- and we wouldn't have it any other way. You've helped us through difficult, emotional times and never wavered in your support. We wish you everything beautiful in your new, carefully curated life.

You personify everything Dr. Moore hoped to create when he opened HHFA all those years ago.

Thank you. We love you.

--The HHFA staff

P.S. We're sure it may make her a little uncomfortable it you leave her a message or drop in to say goodbye this week. But . . . we hope you might in any case because we truly want her to know just how much she has meant to us all.

Everyone needs a little serotonin boost once in a while. Here is 'Tucker Jackson', who came in for his first visit this morning. He took a brief puppy nap during his exam, then woke up for playtime afterwards. 🥰

True to his generous nature, as soon as Dr. Moore heard the Annual Crockery Township Easter Egg hunt was in need of donations, he immediately volunteered to sponsor the event.

Last Saturday, local kids of all ages hunted for eggs in piles of straw while enjoying treats and refreshments. Dr. Moore attended the event with his 3 year old grandson, James.

We are truly grateful to be a part of such a wonderful community.

Formula for a great staff outing:

1) Gather the best staff EVER

2) Tell them to each bring a box of odds and ends

3) Draw names

4) Provide a little sustenance.

4) Give them a theme -- this year it was "The Olym-PEEPS"

5) Set aside an hour to let these amazing, creative minds do what they do best every single day: work together on tight deadlines and under pressure to create the best possible outcome.

The 2025 HHFA Peeps Contest was a huge success. The creativity was endless.

You may hear rumors of judge tampering and, sadly, this was true.

Two teams blatantly left bribes on the table for our guest judges.

But it only added to the fun.

Happy Easter friends.

Paw-nnouncement! We will be closing early, at noon, on Friday, April 18th.

The Easter Bunny, who bares a striking resemblance to Dr. Moore's wife, has planned an Easter lunch and games for the staff.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Happy National Pet Day.

(We'll show you ours if you show us YOURS;)

Dr. Moore's cat -- Symon O'Toole -- is trying not to be offended that nobody said "Happy Siamese Cat Day!" . . . yesterday.

He's not succeeding.

He WILL however take belated greetings.

Dr. Moore and a few of the HHFA staff had the extreme honor of attending the Pound Buddies "Fur Ball" this weekend.

Doc has supported and appreciated this organization for so many years and this event was absolutely . . . beyond.

Creative and fun and doing SO much wonderful work for animals in need.

Pound Buddies rescue Dave Brubeck (Doc's pooch) was more famous than he needed to be (he's pretty vain) and his photo was on display at the lovely event held at Fricano Place in Muskegon . . . twice.

HHFA veterinary assistants Michelle Bogi and Molly Moore-Erhorn had a blast playing all the creative games and several prizes were even won.

Thanks to everyone at PB for a fantastic evening AND for almost 30 years of service to pets in need.

Can you afford a quick "Happy Birthday" to these gorgeous sibs?

Macie and Max -- fur kids of our wonderful clients Becky and Donovan -- turn SEVENTEEN this weekend.

Becky and Donovan spend every summer fostering cats in need and turning them over to loving new homes.

Macie and Max are among the lucky five they have "retained."
