🌟🌟🌟 It's Feature Friday! 🌟🌟🌟

Meet our final Feature Friday pup, Dove (ID A1918947), available for adoption at the San Diego County Animal Services Bonita Shelter THIS WEEKEND!

Dove is a strong and energetic German Shepherd mix, but she can be timid when you first meet her. If you give her some time, she quickly comes out of her shell and will shower you with kisses! She feels most comfortable around other dogs, and loves her toys (to bury, of course)! She's a smart girl, and can sit and shake on command.

Don't miss your chance to go visit, and have this love bug join your family!

🐾 Why Vaccinations are Essential for Your Pets 🐾

As pet owners, ensuring the health and well-being of our furry friends is a top priority. One of the most effective ways to protect your pets from serious and potentially life-threatening diseases is through regular vaccinations. Here’s why vaccinations are so important:

1️⃣ Prevent Serious Diseases: Vaccinations protect pets from a range of infectious diseases such as:
🐢: Distemper, Parvovirus, Rabies, Hepatitis, and Kennel Cough (Bordetella)
🐱: Feline Leukemia, Feline Herpes Virus, Rabies, and Feline Panleukopenia

2️⃣ Promote Public Health: Vaccinating your pets helps prevent the spread of zoonotic diseases (those that can be transmitted from animals to humans), such as Rabies and Leptospirosis. This not only keeps your pets safe but also protects your family and community.

3️⃣ Required by Law: In San Diego, certain vaccinations, like Rabies, are required by law. Keeping your pet’s vaccinations up to date ensures compliance with local regulations and helps avoid fines or penalties.

4️⃣ Enhance Longevity and Quality of Life: Vaccinated pets are less likely to contract diseases that can lead to severe health complications or death. By vaccinating your pets, you contribute to their overall longevity and quality of life.

5️⃣ Prevent Outbreaks: Widespread vaccination helps prevent outbreaks of contagious diseases within pet populations. Herd immunity protects not only your pet but also those that are too young or unable to be vaccinated due to medical reasons.

6️⃣ Cost-Effective: Preventing diseases through vaccination is far more cost-effective than treating a serious illness. The cost of routine vaccinations is minimal compared to the expense of emergency veterinary care.

⁉️ What You Can Do:
-Schedule Regular Vet Visits: Ensure your pets receive their vaccinations on schedule.
-Keep Records: Maintain an updated record of your pet’s vaccinations.
-Educate Yourself: Stay informed about the diseases that can affect your pets and the vaccines available to prevent them.
-Discuss with Your Vet: Talk to your veterinarian about the best vaccination plan tailored to your pet’s age, health status, and lifestyle.

Vaccinations are a vital part of responsible pet ownership. They protect your pets from dangerous diseases, contribute to public health, and help maintain a healthy and happy pet community. Don’t waitβ€”schedule your pet’s vaccination appointment today and ensure they have the protection they need.

πŸ“… Book an Appointment: Visit our website at www.vetsandiego.com to book your pet’s vaccination or check-up instantly.

❀️ Protect your pets, protect your family, and protect your community.

🐾 It's Take Your Cat to the Vet Day! 😾 Here are our top 5 tips for a Fear Free vet visit for your feline:

1️⃣ Acclimate your cat to their carrier: Leave the carrier out in a common area with the door open a few days before your visit. Put familiar bedding and toys inside to make it inviting. Encourage them to explore it by placing treats or catnip inside.

2️⃣ Create a calm environment: Cats can pick up on your anxiety, so stay calm and composed at your visit. Bring a towel or blanket that smells like home to cover the carrier, helping them feel secure and less exposed.

3️⃣ Use pheromones and calming products: Use a pheromone spray like Feliway in the carrier and on the towel or blanket to reduce stress and anxiety. Consider using calming products that contain natural soothing ingredients. We love VetriScience Composure Pro Liquid, available through our online pharmacy.

4️⃣ Handle with care: Always handle your cat gently and avoid sudden movements. Let us know if your cat has any particular fears or triggers. Keep the carrier covered with the treated blanket during the trip and in the waiting room to minimize visual stressors.

5️⃣ Schedule smartly: Schedule appointments during quieter times of the day when the clinic is less crowded and noisy. We recommend first appointment of the day, or right after our lunch break at 1pm. Arrive on time or slightly early to minimize wait time. If possible, wait in the car until an exam room is ready to avoid a busy waiting area.

By following these tips, you can help make veterinary visits less stressful for your cat, leading to better experiences for both of you. ❀ 😸
