Much like Jason, Butterscotch Lollipop is a paraplegic, but also a member of the Soggy Bottom Squad due to f***l incontinence. Some might say Butterscotch Lollipop was born unlucky. Afterall he was born paralyzed; from the beginning his little back legs just did not work. Unluckier still he was born in rural Texas where there are not many opportunities for a paraplegic cat to thrive. But Butterscotch is a lucky boy, he was born in the perfect place. Found outside by a good samaritan, Butterscotch was lucky from the start to have a home that knew exactly what he needed and a safe landing awaiting him. Today he gets all the clean-up and care he requires at Copper’s Cat Commune. This Giving Tuesday, give Butterscotch Lollipop another day of his best life with a gift of $5 or more.

You may already know Jason’s story as a paraplegic, but did you know this handsome man is also a card carrying member of the Soggy Bottom Squad? When Jason was 6 years old he escaped his home for an adventure, but when he returned his back legs weren’t working anymore. While euthanasia was recommended, Jason’s family sought out options to help their furry family member. As hard as it was for Jason’s family to say goodbye, it was the right decision to move him to Copper’s Cat Commune so he could get the daily care he needed that his family just couldn’t provide. Like many of the Soggy Bottom cats, Jason struggles with f***l incontinence in addition to his need for daily pain meds to keep his extreme sensitivity to a minimum. Now, Jason can truly live his best life while enjoying all that the Commune has to offer. This Giving Tuesday, give Jason another day of his best life with a gift of $5 or more.

Sometimes a cat needs nine lives and then a few more. When a young cat with neurologic problems and megacolon came in, the team at the Nine Lives Foundation in California knew they had to give her a chance. In loving foster care Trill began medications for megacolon, but because she suffers from bladder and bowel leaks the team struggled to find the right home for her. They knew there had to be a place where Trill could truly belong just as she is and they were determined to care for Trill till they could find that place.
It took time, in fact it was several years before the Nine Lives Foundation learned of the perfect place for Trill - Copper’s Cat Commune. Meanwhile, the Commune had been housing several friendly cats with FIV, and while they were perfectly adoptable they had struggled to find homes in Texas. So with a little planning and a lot of love two cats from Texas boarded planes to California and in short order found forever homes, and two leaky cats, Trill and her friend Lady Gaga found their place at the Commune where they fit in just right. Trill’s leaky - but that's our specialty, she needs medications - but that’s common here, and with her silly high-stepping walk and little turned out ballerina front feet she fits right in at the Commune surrounded by her scooting, wobbly, silly-stepping pals. This Giving Tuesday, give Trill another day of her best life with a gift of $5 or more. Your donation will be double-matched!

Lupin was surrendered to Rosenberg Animal Shelter after being found outside dragging his back end - a pellet lodged in his spine. Unsure of humans at first he learned to love pets and a full belly despite daily bladder and bowel expressions. The shelter staff reached out to Copper’s Cat Commune and Lupin found his soft landing. One of the OGs of the Soggy Bottom Squad he quickly earned the affectionate nickname “Poopin’ Loopin” on account of his bowel incontinence.
Eventually Lupin healed enough to no longer require daily expression, but his lack of bowel control means he still requires some extra clean up and daily medication for pain management.
This Giving Tuesday, give Lupin another day of his best life with a gift of $5 or more. Your donation will be double-matched!

We are so excited to announce that we have begun a new partnership! The Pre-Vet Society at Sam Houston State University has paired with us to give their members the opportunity to volunteer here! It has been very successful so far, and we so appreciate the help in keeping things clean around here! Plus they help keep an eye on the health of the cats since Matt and I are both working full-time outside the sanctuary. Many Thanks to Joslyn Ramos and Brennan McElroy for helping to set this up!

Join the #AriesArmy!

Copper's Cat Commune is a nonprofit cat sanctuary dedicated to the lifetime care of a limited population of ill, disabled, or otherwise adoption challenged cats as well as the promotion of TNR programs and feline behavioral therapy. Aries is a special boy who won so many hearts as he fought for life in 2015 when he was just 6 weeks old. His indomitable spirit and unceasing joy quickly made him the front man...er...cat of the Commune. His life was on the line again in 2018 and the #AriesArmy was born. We care for between 80 and 90 cats at any given time. Follow their stories, trials, and tribulations here and on Instagram @Copperscatcommune. Thank you for your support!!
