Mr. Meowgi is a BIG boy. He is here because he can also be a BAD boy. He is a sweetheart until you try to make him do something he doesn't want to do - then the teeth come out. He rarely breaks skin anymore, but he sure used to.

Minerva, "Min-Min," is a super sweet senior girl. She was adopted a few years ago but was returned to us due to the family splitting up. When she came back, she had actually sustained some sort of trauma to one of her third eyelids, so it is up all the time now. This photo is from before she was adopted.

Help Shelter Cats Like Hiccup ring in the New Year…
Hiccup was found all alone outside when he was only around six weeks old. Paralyzed from birth he was likely unable to keep up with his siblings. Fortunately Hiccup was found by a wonderful person who knew a lot about cats – enough to know Hiccup needed someplace special. So he found his perfect home as part of the Para Program here at the Commune. Help keep Hiccup’s bowl full by donating food from the Commune wishlists.

Gorgeous MadEye Moody was the victim of a gunshot wound that took his right front leg. His eye was a congenital issue that needed to be removed as well. He's a feral boy, but he loves to come in the house and sing for his dinner at mealtimes.

Give Shelter Cats Like Butterscotch Lollipop a Merry Christmas…
Some might say Butterscotch Lollipop was born unlucky. After all he was born paralyzed; from the beginning his little back legs just did not work. Unluckier still he was born in rural Texas where there are not many opportunities for a paraplegic cat to thrive. But Butters is a lucky boy, found outside by a good samaritan Butters was lucky from the start to have a home that knew exactly what he needed and a safe landing awaiting him. We are so thankful for all of you!

Millie stealing water from Hiccup's cage. It's not as if there isn't fresh water on the floor about 2 feet away! (All of our paraplegics are loose during the day but sleep in cages at night)

Hurricane/Tropical Storm Beryl has done some damage here at the Commune. All cats are safe at the moment, but a large pecan tree broke and the whole top half fell into our yard. It took out part of our privacy fence and crushed a section of Purrfect Fence in our main enclosure. There are 2 cats currently outside in that enclosure who refuse to come indoors. They are hanging out in the gazebo. There is nothing we can do at the moment since the second half of Beryl is about to hit with torrential rain forecast. We also have no power. Our generator is slated to be delivered on Thursday. At least we will have it for the next storm. Keep the cats in your thoughts as we head into round 2.

Aries is a special boy who won so many hearts as he fought for life in 2015 when he was just 6 weeks old. His indomitable spirit and unceasing joy quickly made him the front man...er...cat of the Commune. His life was on the line again in 2018 and the #AriesArmy was born.
