A matted dog is an unhappy and cold dog. This is due to mats generally being in close proximity to the skin and holding moisture. A common myth is dogs get cold when humans do. Dogs temperature runs at 101- 102.5. So to shave your dog when it is matted is doing them a great justice even if it is cooler outside. If you are still concerned your pet may be cold you can always put a small t-shirt or a doggy jacket on them after being shaved.
