This might be the most exciting thing I've ever heard coming to Springdale!! I can't wait to see all the possibilities this brings for our farms and small food businesses.
The 45,000-square-foot hub in Northwest Arkansas will offer areas where farmers, food entrepreneurs and the community come together around healthy food

I thought I'd be happy to find my fave pair of garden snips.
These chestnut pods are the best for keeping the squirrels from digging in our plants. Now I think the squirrels are after payback!

Aren't these blue tomatoes gorgeous? Out of the 21 varieties we grew this year, the three blue varieties have been the most fascinating!
Fahrenheit Blues
Dancing with Smurfs
Clackamas Blueberry
Even their names are fun!
Have you tried blue tomatoes? Were they the same types or did you try a different blue?

We've surrendered our dill. When it's for these swallowtails, it's worth it.
There were 5 found yesterday and then another last night. Today we can see all 6 and it's surprising how much they've grown in a day!

From the 1st Sunflower bloom of the year to the Independence Day "flowerworks", Tabletop Farms is poppin' in July!
Flowerworks was a naturescape representing fireworks and was created from plant materials found here on the farm! We used Queen Anne's Lace Flowers, Japanese Red Maple, Blackberries, Dock Seedheads, Cornflower, Purple Clover Flower, Plantain Seedheads, Perennial Grasses, and Fleabane Flowers.
The big bloomers on the farm right now: Queen Anne's Lace, Passionfruit, Pumpkin, Squash & Zucchini. The enticing fragrance of flowers from QAL, Passionfruit and the remaining elderberry flowers, create a perfume that draws me out the house every morning!! Oh...and the dill flowers bring a smile every time we pass it.
Green beans are coming in pretty strong and so is basil (one of the top things we love to grow). Tomatoes are slowly coming on but we do have a lot of plants. We'll post again soon just about tomatoes...including plants!
Our carrot greens are looking gorgeous. Carrot green pesto recipe coming soon!

These sweet corn flowers volunteered in an unused garden bed. The gorgeous blue color and it's eagerness to be here on our farm, gets a smile every time!
We're just going to let it stay there to self seed so they'll return year after year.
Have you given a full-time home to any volunteer plants?

Wouldn't you know it. They've said we'd have rain for weeks and none. So when we were about to do a hive split today... the rain hit.
This hive was full! Guess the bees knew it was going to rain and stayed home. They were NOT happy about the roof being lifted. Chris got stung for the first and second time. I managed to escape even though my face and ear were dive bombed. I even had one stow away in my hair until we got inside. Luckily it didn't sting me and I let it out of the house.
Better luck next time!
Real life is beautiful
I spied this Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly in the lawn. It wasn't until later when editing photos that I realized so much damage to the wing. I had seen it as a bit wobbly in air yet graceful, hopeful and determined.
Seems that life can take a toll and still be beautiful.
Chris and I are so excited to welcome you to our new FB page! We thought it was time to "officially" spread the word with our friends about our new venture.
It started ten or so years ago when we found a wild plum tree on our property. After learning how to make jelly...out of almost anything...we now have at least 40 wild plum trees because it's everyone's favorite jelly. These discoveries and lessons were just the beginning. Since then, we've been opening our world more to what nature brings to us.
We've gleaned the skills, and also developed a love, for growing food & other plants, preserving harvests, and doing them in unique but efficient ways. By recognizing the wild or native plants on our own land or anywhere we go, it's as if nature reveals to us each new stepping stone along our journey. Along that journey have been super supportive friends and family {thank you}!
The name Tabletop Farms (Tabletop Urban Farms @tufarms was chosen because so many of our projects begin on our own kitchen table and then end up on your tabletop!
