🐾 Donor Monday: Meet Sandy! 🐾

Hi, I’m Sandy—aka Sandy Cheeks or SanSan! My journey started with a rough beginning, but in March 2021, I found my furever home and my best friend, Anoek. I may have been shy at first, but now I love swimming, going on walks, keeping up with neighborhood gossip, and FaceTiming my grandparents in Florida!

One of my favorite things? Being a blood donor hero! When my amazing vet told my mom about the donor program (and promised me lots of cheese), I was all in! 🧀 Thanks to my donations, I get to help other pups in need.

Meet Our Donor Monday!

Meet Isaac, also known as Ike! This handsome boy rescued his mom when he was just 8 weeks old, and she calls him her “gift from above.” Ike loves making friends, playing ball, and going on camping trips with his mom and sister, Winnie.

If Ike had a superpower, it would be running super fast to fetch his ball even quicker! But his true superpower is helping save lives—first as a Search and Rescue trainee for humans, and now as a proud blood donor helping other pets in need. 🐾💉

Meet Our Donor Monday!

This is Audrey, a 5-year-old with a heart as golden as her fur. Audrey loves her people more than anything, but she also enjoys nose work, chasing balls, snuggling on the couch, and carrying around her favorite stuffed bunny.

Her mom says she’s the most gentle soul on the planet, and we couldn’t agree more! Audrey’s superpower? Healing the sick—one donation at a time. That’s why she joined our donor program, and she’s making a difference every day. 🐾❤️

Say hello to Wyld! WyWy is a young, lovable labradoodle who might be almost 70 lbs, but that doesn’t stop her from enjoying life like a toddler (yes, she loves being carried). Whether she’s hanging out at Hounds Lounge or with her cousin Prince, Wyld knows how to have a good time.

Not only does Wyld live by the creed, “Be excellent to each other, and party on dudes!”—she’s also excellent at saving lives as one of our amazing blood donors. 🐾💉

Meet Athena, our newest hero! 🐾 This gorgeous girl just completed her first blood donation at the Animal Blood Bank of Arkansas, and she went above and beyond!

Thanks to her incredible donation, Athena provided two bags of 125mL of packed red blood cells (PRBCs) and 120 mL of plasma. These lifesaving components will help pets in critical need, giving them a second chance.

We’re so proud to have her as part of our team of life-saving heroes. Thank you, Athena, for making a difference! 💉💪

Advanced liver disease can affect both dogs and cats, reducing their ability to produce vital proteins and clotting factors, which can lead to bleeding issues and low protein levels. Plasma transfusions offer critical support by providing:
• Clotting Factors 🩸 to reduce bleeding risks in both felines and canines.
• Protein Support 💪 to help stabilize blood pressure and fluid balance.
• Temporary Liver Support 🛠️ to assist with recovery until other treatments take effect.

👏 A Huge Thank You to Zivah! 👏

Zivah was an absolute superstar during her donation today! She generously gave 458ml of whole blood, which was expertly separated into 350ml of packed red blood cells (PRBCs) and 280ml of fresh frozen plasma (FFP). Just one donation like this can go on to help up to five pets in need—a true gift of life!

Special shoutout to our incredible CVT, Alex and Assistant Ashley, for processing Zivah’s donation and keeping her safe and calm throughout the process. Their dedication ensures our blood bank is ready to save lives in times of need! 🩸💖

Parvovirus is a serious threat to young dogs, often leading to severe symptoms like anemia and low protein levels.
