Meet Athena, our newest hero! 🐾 This gorgeous girl just completed her first blood donation at the Animal Blood Bank of Arkansas, and she went above and beyond!

Thanks to her incredible donation, Athena provided two bags of 125mL of packed red blood cells (PRBCs) and 120 mL of plasma. These lifesaving components will help pets in critical need, giving them a second chance.

We’re so proud to have her as part of our team of life-saving heroes. Thank you, Athena, for making a difference! 💉💪

👏 A Huge Thank You to Zivah! 👏

Zivah was an absolute superstar during her donation today! She generously gave 458ml of whole blood, which was expertly separated into 350ml of packed red blood cells (PRBCs) and 280ml of fresh frozen plasma (FFP). Just one donation like this can go on to help up to five pets in need—a true gift of life!

Special shoutout to our incredible CVT, Alex and Assistant Ashley, for processing Zivah’s donation and keeping her safe and calm throughout the process. Their dedication ensures our blood bank is ready to save lives in times of need! 🩸💖

Parvovirus is a serious threat to young dogs, often leading to severe symptoms like anemia and low protein levels. Did you know? Fleas can become dangerous if left untreated in pets! 😱 Severe flea infestations can lead to flea anemia, where your pet loses so much blood they may need a blood transfusion to survive. This is most commonly seen in younger pets like kittens and puppies. 🐱🐶

That’s why blood donation is so important. We never want to cut a pet’s life short because there’s not enough blood available. Every donation helps save lives, ensuring that no pet in need goes without critical care. ❤️

🩸Feline Blood Donors: Rare & Essential Heroes🩸

Did you know that cats have two primary blood types, A and B? While type A is more common, type B is incredibly rare—especially in our area! This makes finding type B blood products a challenging task.

We’re so grateful for our newest blood donor, Tolstoy, and his owner Zoe for their invaluable contribution to our blood bank program. Without Tolstoy’s donation, we wouldn’t have had the necessary blood available for a critically ill cat in need.

Please help us by encouraging cat owners to participate in this life-saving program. If your cat qualifies, there are many benefits, including free yearly screenings and preventatives. Let’s work together to save more lives! ❤️

Chewie completed the ultimate good boy deed and is now an official member of our Blood Bank! 🩸 Last week, he donated 410 ml, which created 2 bags of blood and 1 bag of plasma!

Chewie’s donations help save local dogs' lives, just like his brofur Leo's was saved a few years back. We are so grateful to his owner for honoring Leo’s memory and giving back to the community. Chewie gets extra food and attention on donation days, plus FREE flea/tick & heartworm prevention while he’s an active donor!
