This is so heartbreaking 💔and totally preventable. Please be aware and listen to your breeder who realizes our littles cannot tolerate these vaccines and must be protected by their new owners❤️
Update: She’s gone. 💔
Heartbreaking vaccine reaction. This darling puppy girl was bouncy and healthy before vaccinations on Friday.
She’s out of some of my legacy Show Tyme lines and belongs to a friend.
I’m sure the Vet’s office must have given her a 7-way puppy shot (instead of the 5-way). She was also given Bordetella. Vaccine overload for this lil Shih Tzu girl.
Pup is being rushed to emergency vet but I think it’s probably too late. Owner brought pup to my house first and I called ER Vet. They are painfully slow but promised to bring her right in since it’s a (common) vaccine reaction. (They did-she’s already being evaluated.)
Vets do know that these vaccines kill these babies. They are not the least surprised.
But puppy parents have no idea and trust their pet vets.
Puppies do not need all of the routine vaccinations that are pushed.
Shih Tzu puppies need protection from Parvo and Distemper!! (Plus of course, gentle de-worming starting when they are weeks old.) That is it.
Vet clinics routinely give the 7-way puppy shot and many don’t even keep the 5-way on hand. The 7-way has additional coronavirus in it and worse yet the Leptospirosis (which is probably the cause of near death here.)
On Shih Tzu I don’t think Lepto should be given until one year of age or older and always a separate vaccine not combined with anything else.
I know I might get flak about not being a Vet, but I know this breed and have extensive experience. I’ve talked to the KU researchers about Lepto over the years. I had this in every puppy contract… no Lepto.
Pray that this little girl has a miraculous recovery at ER Vet. We’d be thrilled if they can save her. My friend loves her so much. 🙏

Here are interesting clues from ChatGPT. Read between the lines… they are warning us without warning us:
Seven-Way Vaccines are often given in areas where leptospirosis is a concern, such as regions with standing water or wildlife that can carry the disease.
• Some veterinarians may choose to administer a separate leptospirosis vaccine to tailor the schedule to the dog’s needs.
It’s always a good idea to discuss your puppy’s specific risk factors and environment with your veterinarian to decide on the appropriate vaccination.
