🐾 October is Adopt a Dog Month / Shelter Dog Month 🐾

This , we’re shining a light on the small but meaningful ways we can support the animals in our community.

Not looking to add a new furry family member? That’s okay—there are still plenty of ways to make a difference:
🐶 Take a shelter dog for a walk.
🐱 Spend some time playing with shelter cats.
🐕 Bring a shelter dog to a local event for extra adoption exposure.

These simple acts not only brighten the lives of shelter pets—they might just boost your own mood, too. 💛

🌈🐾 Today’s Rainbow Bridge Shoutout: Bailey 🐾🌈 2005 - 2020

Some stories start with heartbreak… but turn into something truly beautiful. 💛

Bailey’s first chapter began when her previous owner surrendered her for euthanasia. 💔 But fate had other plans... One big-hearted vet tech knew just the person who needed Bailey… even if she didn’t know it yet. 😉

Two playdates later, Bailey had found her furever home—complete with a backyard perfect for people-watching and making friends with park walkers (one even returned her home once when a sneaky fence mishap gave her a solo adventure!).

You might notice in her photos that Bailey sometimes had one eye instead of two. She came home with both, but due to her short nose, her eyes were more exposed and vulnerable. Sadly, one couldn’t be saved—but Bailey never let that slow her down or dampen her joy. She reminded her mom daily that love, not looks, is what really matters. ❤️

Bailey filled her days with float trips, adventures, snuggles with her sister Khloe the mini dachshund, and soaking in every moment of life.

Her story is proof of the saying: “Who rescued who?” 💕

We miss you, sweet Bailey. Thank you for leaving pawprints on so many hearts. 🐾✨

⚠️ Pet Obesity: A Growing Problem for Our Smallest Friends 🐾

Small dogs may be tiny, but their appetites can be BIG. 🍽️ Many will happily eat as long as there’s food in front of them—and it’s easier than you think to overfeed.

A “healthy” portion might look small, especially if you’re used to feeding larger breeds, but those smaller meals protect your pup from serious health problems like joint pain, heart issues, and diabetes. ❤️

✅ Weigh your dog regularly (or have your vet do it).
✅ Follow feeding guidelines for their weight.
✅ Choose small-breed formulas for proper nutrition.
✅ Count those treats—they add up FAST in tiny tummies.

A little portion control now means a longer, happier, healthier life for your furry friend. 🐶💛

🐾 October is Small Dog Awareness Month! 🐾

Our pint-sized pups pack BIG personalities—but they also have unique needs! 💛 Here are some tips to keep your little dog happy, healthy, and safe:

🍽️ Watch Those Portions – Many small dogs will eat as long as there’s food in front of them. Follow feeding guidelines for their weight, choose food made for small breeds, and don’t forget—treats count toward daily calories (especially during training!).

🪜 Mind the Jumps – Even a leap from the couch can be a big impact for little legs. Ramps or pet stairs can help prevent injury.

🐕 Train & Socialize – Early training builds confidence, reduces nervousness, and helps your dog behave politely in public spaces.

🛡️ Harness > Collar – Collars can choke or injure small dogs if they pull suddenly. Harnesses spread pressure safely across their body.

⛰️ Know Their Limits – Not all small dogs are ready for a 10-mile hike. Build up their stamina slowly or choose adventures suited for their size.

💖 Big love comes in small packages—let’s keep our little companions safe and thriving!
