From there, the vet can determine whether your dog has an ear yeast infection or bacterial infection—or both! We will prescribe medication to treat the infection.

DOGS ARE NOT COLORBLIND!

We commonly hear the myth that dogs are colorblind but what can they actually see?

Dogs' eyes only have two types of cones, compared to the three in human eyes, which means they can only see shades of gray, brown, yellow, and blue.

Because they can't rely solely on color, dogs use other cues like smell, texture, brightness, and position. For example, seeing-eye dogs may not be able to tell the difference between a green or red stoplight, but they can look at the brightness and position of the light.

Most dogs have 20/75 vision, meaning that they must be 20 feet away from an object to see it as well as a human with clear vision who is standing 75 feet away.

COUNT YOUR SOCKS!

Dogs that ingest socks are notorious for eventually getting one stuck and needing emergency surgery!

Thankfully, this owner brought her dog in before the socks got that far.

After taking x rays to determine there was something in the stomach, we induced vomiting to see what it was.

SHE BROUGHT UP A TOTAL OF 5 SOCKS!

We treat Colony Cats!

There are many feral colony cats around Springfield, and tons of dedicated community members are doing the best they keeping them healthy!

Laceration repairs, abscess ruptures, hit by car injuries, severe upper respiratory infections, and skin issues keep these kids coming back in on a regular basis!

Routine care - preventatives, spay/neuter, and deworming - are available here too, so when we get the chance, we take advantage of them under sedation and get as much done as we can!
