With a heavy heart, Nona’s family is saying goodbye.

Nona was my first petsitting dog and the reason that I started offering this service. My friends know about Nona and recognize her photo. Every time I post a Snapchat with her I get so many “omg NONA!!” messages.

She touched many hearts and will be missed. I’ll miss being your big spoon, Nona.

Since the storm and power outage at the beginning of the month, I have been having ongoing phone issues. I apologize to anyone that has not received a response because I didn’t receive the inquiry or because my response didn’t go through. I’m not sure if it’s a me issue or an AT&T issue but I’m hoping to have it sorted asap.

A little update in my personal life:
After serving as the Finance Committee Chair, I’ll be starting as the Alumni Board of Directors Vice President in September. I’m excited for this new role, and being able to continue to serve my community and alma mater.

WILD Canine Rescue and Sangamon County Animal Control & Adoption Center are currently unable to intake any owner surrendered dogs. Animal Control cannot turn away strays, but there are literally no more open kennels and WILD has no available fosters.

What needs to change?

•STOP GETTING PUPPIES AND DUMPING THEM WHEN YOU DO NOT TRAIN THEM AND ARE SURPRISED WHEN THEY ACT A FOOL.
•DO NOT GET AN ANIMAL IF YOU CANNOT COMMIT TO CARING FOR IT FOR ITS ENTIRE LIFE. 📢📢📣📣
•STOP GETTING ANIMALS IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD FOOD AND BASIC VET CARE
•PREPARE FOR THE UNEXPECTED AND ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN FOR LIFE MISHAPS

(Life happens. We understand every situation is different, but the overwhelming theme is irresponsible pet ownership and seeing animals as disposable.)

How can you help?

•Volunteer to foster: https://wildcaninerescue.org/fostering-information
•Share posts of adoptable dogs on Facebook

How to prevent surrendering your pet?

•Fix your dog. Hormones can cause dogs to wander when they are unaltered (especially males). This also can lead to a litter of puppies that only contribute to the overpopulation of shelter animals.
•Ask WILD for help.
Is your dog escaping and you can’t figure out how to stop them? Ask us.
Need a tie out? Ask us.
Need help with a hole in your fence? Ask us.
Need a trainer recommendation? Ask us.

Commit to your pets. They’re committed to you.

Hi friends! After the tornado that came through on Thursday, I finally have power again. I have several pet sitting inquiries, so please be patient while I work my way through them!
