We’d like to raise awareness about an apparently new form of respiratory disease that has been identified in dogs in Oregon. The disease spreads in a way that suggests viral transmission, but a specific pathogen has not yet been identified.

Effects of this disease are:
Chronic mild-moderate tracheobronchitis (inflammation of the trachea) for 6-8 weeks.
Chronic pneumonia that is minimally or not responsive to antibiotics.
Acute pneumonia that rapidly becomes severe and often leads to poor outcomes in as few as 24-36 hours.

We’d like dog owners to be aware of this disease but not worried about it. It has only affected a small portion of the dog population in the areas where it has been seen.

Some practical precautions dog owners can take that can help protect their dogs against this and other diseases are:
Keep your dog(s) up to date on all vaccines.
Limit your dog(s) interaction with other dogs, especially at events with dogs from many regions (dog shows, breed club events, etc.)

“Rosie is my 15 year old Chihuahua. She is the grumpy old lady of the group and likes spending most of her time taking naps, away from the other kiddos.

Kelby is my other 15 year old. She is a people lover and likes to spend her time outside lying in the sun.

Harley is my 7 year old. She is the baby of the group and loves pestering the other girls. She loves going on walks and being outdoors playing catch or trying to catch the ground hogs.”

Introducing our newest groomer, Rebecca! Our grooming department is growing and we’re happy to have Rebecca on board!

Rebecca has had a love for animals since she was born. Her first job was working in a kennel for a veterinarian on the weekends in 1997 and went on to work as a vet tech for well over a decade before starting grooming. She adores her clients as if they were her own, taking time to carefully style each pet into their own unique trim. She is passionate about well-bred dogs and loves to educate about and advocate for the preservation of purposely bred dogs.
