1. Small dogs often live longer than large dogs.
Small dogs live longer because their bodies age more slowly and experience less physical stress over time than large dogs.

2. Dental disease is more common in small breeds.
Their mouths are smaller, but they still have the same number of teeth as large dogs. This leads to crowded and overlapping teeth, which trap food and bacteria more easily. Plaque builds up faster, turning into tartar and causing gum inflammation and infection. Yearly professional dental cleanings are very important for optimal oral health.

3. Many prefer laps over beds.
Their size makes laps feel like a secure den, and they naturally seek body heat and closeness. Many small breeds were also bred specifically for companionship, so being physically close to their person is part of how they bond and feel comforted. Plus, beds don’t give belly rubs. 😂

Here are a few winter safety reminders:
• Limit outdoor time for small or short-haired breeds
• Watch for paw pad irritation from ice/salt
• Make sure fresh water isn’t frozen

Robertson County, this one's for our feral cat caretakers! 💜🐾

We're excited to host a low-cost feral cat neuter day to support the well-being of Springfield's feral and outdoor cats. This event is specifically for truly feral cats to help make essential care more accessible for the people who look after them.

We'll be using the same high-level anesthesia monitoring and surgical standards we follow every day. This isn't a profit event; it's something we're doing because we care about our community and want to help reduce the feral cat population responsibly.

Thank you for helping us make a positive difference for Springfield's feral cats. 🐾💜
