Two tasks we’ve been working on and why I need them
Video one: item retrieval
During a bad mobility day or when a migraine attack comes. I might need my service dog to retrieve an item that might be pain meds or a drink. This is helpful for many reasons and is a fun and semi easy thing to train
She needs more work on this one, but is doing good with the foundation of this task. The goal is to have her grab the item asked for then have her come right back and sit til I take the item and release her
Video two: holding item
This is a very helpful task, now yes I trained item holding at first just for pics of her holding things. But as things moved and she became my service dog she now is learning to hold items for longer periods while she walks. This is useful for it the item has a texture things for myself or if I’m overwhelmed (due to autism being overwhelmed I can feel my limbs too much so holding things can be difficult)
She’s doing wonderful with this task, but we’re working on duration of holding an item and on different items
I found an old clip of Myah working her heel- just wow the manic of dog training can do is amazing
She used to walk ahead and would need a verbal correction, now she just does it and fixes herself without correction and even then it’s verbal and is given once
Service Dog Myah enjoyed a trip at Spirit Halloween, safe to say she’s a bomb proof k9 🧡🖤❤️

Service dog Myah did excellent with working off leash for the first time, she worked at Lowe's for half an hour then to Walmart for a quick run!
