Meet APL K9 Pet of the Week "Blue"! Blue is lively 5-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix, overflowing with energy, affection, and friendliness.
Blue is approaching one year of shelter life, and that is too long! Blue is desperate to find her forever home as life in the shelter is wearing her down as she yearns for attention and friendship, and as a working breed,...a job, activity, or sport to do.
Blue's exuberant personality radiates a playful nature and boundless enthusiasm for life. She is a highly trainable girl and very treat motivated. She LOVES a good game of fetch and is always ready for a car ride to adventure! Blue settles nicely when crated and adores snuggling up in her bed with a cozy blanket, finding comfort and warmth in quiet moments of relaxation. According to Blue's previous pet parent she is housebroken.
Blue's exuberance for life means she's best suited to be the only animal in the home, as she tends to chase after animals in the yard or within reach. Her ideal home would be without cats or very small children. While she may need a bit of guidance with leash walking, her excitement to explore the world and meet new people is infectious. If you're searching for a loyal and spirited companion to share your adventures and brighten your days, Blue is ready and waiting to become your new best friend. Come meet her today at the APL and discover the joy and love she has to offer!
Meet Lucas, a heartwarming white Lab mix with an inspiring story of resilience. Despite a tough start in life, including losing one of his front legs as a pup and experiencing some difficulty with his back legs, Lucas's spirit remains unbreakable. This super sweet boy, with a smile that lights up any room, is the epitome of loyalty and affection, always eager for pets and belly rubs. Lucas does need to be carried out to use the bathroom, but he is house trained and adapts well with a little extra care. He would thrive in a home where he can be the only pet, receiving all the love and attention he deserves. If you're looking for a loving and courageous companion, Lucas is the perfect match for you. Luna is a sweet and affectionate companion who loves to engage in friendly conversations, always ready to share her thoughts with an expressive meow. Luna's affectionate nature and talkative charm make her a delightful addition to any home looking for a loyal and interactive furry friend. She has FIV, which means she has a weaker immune system than most cats. FIV cats can live a long, happy life, but should not go to a home with FIV-negative cats. Meet Temptress, the charming eight-year-old female Pit mix whose resilience and grace have won the hearts of all at APL. Temptress was originally brought in severely emaciated with some serious skin affliction after being left behind when her family moved out of a home. Luckily her neighbors noticed and brought her to APL. In the last six months under APL's care we have seen an amazing transformation with Temptress, now at a healthy weight and her beautiful chocolate brown coat growing back in. Please see photos in comments to witness her amazing progress!
Temptress is a testament to the power of care and love that we at APL share with every animal we take in. Friendly and affectionate, she walks with poise on the leash, savoring every moment of outdoor exploration. Temptress adores human company and delights in being pampered with gentle affection. However, she would thrive best as the sole pet in a home without young children, where she can bask in undivided attention and enjoy a peaceful environment tailored to her needs. Visit her today at the APL and discover the warmth and companionship she's ready to offer in her forever home.
