Fundraising Update: We have raised $115.50!
It’s Giving Tuesday and we only have until this Friday, December 6th, to raise $10,000 for two lifesaving APL programs: APL’s Pet Food Bank and Medical Services Program which provide transformative care and resources to animals and pet-owners of our community on a daily basis. Thanks to generous donors who have made a matching gift, when we raise $10,000… we will have actually raised $20,000 toward funding these programs! WOW! This Giving Tuesday you have the chance to make a huge impact at APL for animals in need and for your community at large!
Today, learn about our Pet Food Bank!:
Our pet food bank ensures that pet food is accessible to pet owners experiencing financial hardship in our community which helps us keep pets healthy, happy and where they belong – safe at home. In the first two quarters of 2024, we distributed over 17,000 pounds of pet food to 530 local pet owners. Believe it or not, we are on track to far exceed the 27,311 pounds of food we distributed to 721 people in 2023. Our food bank relies on donations of food and funds. The increasing demand paired with a lack of supply occasionally leaves needs unfulfilled. No pet or pet owner should have to suffer due to a lack of access to resources. No treatable pet should be euthanized for lack of means, nor should an owner be faced with relinquishment when they are unable to provide care. This service will continue to feed hungry animals and support their owners with the help of your support! DONATE TODAY TO HELP US RAISE $10,000 IN OUR OVERALL GOAL OF RAISING $20,000!

Starting SUNDAY We Have One Week To Fund Two Lifesaving APL Programs – Are You In? (When you donate, your donation will be DOUBLED!)
This Giving Tuesday, with your help, we can raise $10,000 in just one week, December 1st-6th, and then watch it DOUBLE to $20,000 thanks to matching donations!
Your Giving Tuesday donations will help fund APL’s Pet Food Bank and Medical Services Program which provide transformative care and resources to animals and pet-owners of our community on a daily basis. Follow along on Facebook and Instagram to learn more about these programs and join our mascot, Captain Canine, in daily fundraising updates as we watch the donation thermometer rise to $20,000!

Please share!!!

Our Thanksgiving sleepover event has been a huge success, and we're so grateful for all the support we've received!

Almost all of our dogs have found loving homes or foster families, BUT 5 SWEET PUPS ARE STILL WAITING in the shelter kennels wishing to experience the joy of a family thanksgiving holiday.

Meet: Hannah, Lucille, Clint, Bruiser, and Pickle!

If you're interested in giving one of these patient pups a chance to enjoy the holidays outside the shelter, please call today at 217-544-7387 and ask about being a holiday foster.

Please let us know today by 5pm if you can help these dogs find a cozy spot to call home for the thanksgiving holiday. Thank you for making a difference! 🐾❤️

For 28 years, Raising Cane's has been actively involved in supporting its Communities, with pet welfare among its six areas of focus. Inspired by its yellow labrador namesake, Raising Cane, the brand is kicking off its 2024 Holiday Plush Puppy Campaign on Monday, Nov. 25, benefiting local pet welfare organizations across the country.

Raising Cane's is proud to donate 100% of net proceeds from in-Restaurant Plush Puppy sales to the Animal Protective League of Springfield and Sangamon County.

During the campaign — running from Nov. 25 through Jan. 5 — Raising Cane’s is offering a limited-edition Plush Puppy inspired by one of the most iconic treats of the season: the candy cane. This year’s theme, “Raise a Little Cane,” features a plush Cane dog dressed as a candy cane to celebrate one of the most iconic treats of the season and is a playful, holiday twist on our beloved namesake.

To participate, the Community is invited to visit their local Raising Cane’s and purchase this year’s Plush Puppy which is available for $9.99 plus tax.

APL is grateful for the support of our events and mission by our animal loving friends at Raising Cane's!
