Here are some great safety tips from AAHA to keep in mind this week during all the Thanksgiving festivities.

Be cautious with sharing your Thanksgiving feasts with your pets, as many seasonings we use can be toxic to them. Here are a few examples of things to steer clear of:

ā€¢turkey and turkey bones
ā€¢yeast rolls
ā€¢pumpkin pie
ā€¢wine and cider
ā€¢raisins and grapes
ā€¢nuts
ā€¢onion or garlic
ā€¢chocolate
ā€¢sugar free deserts

If you still want your pet to be included consider:

ā€¢plain cooked sweet potatoes
ā€¢raw green beans
ā€¢plain pumpkin purĆ©e (no seasonings)

Weā€™re back again for Fun Fact Friday!

This week weā€™re talking about teeth šŸ¦·

As some may know, dogs have a set of puppy teeth that will gradually be replaced with their set of adult teeth between 4-6 months of age.

But did you know we commonly see smaller breed dogs retain some of their puppy teeth (especially their canines)?

Oftentimes, their puppy canine will hang out right next to their adult canine and will not come out on its own. In these cases, we recommend extracting the puppy tooth to prevent issues with periodontal disease for the pet in the future.

Check out the root on this canine tooth we extracted from a 5 month old puppy! That root is so long, the chances it would have fallen out on its own are very slim.
