As we transfer things over to Mike and April, we would suggest that you either text them or give them a call if you need to make a reservation. The number is still 417.833.6069. Not sure when we will get the Facebook and Messager up and running. As this may be our last post, we want to thank all of you again. You and your pups have blessed us over the years. We will miss seeing you and loving on your babies.

As of today, Care a Lot kennels closed their doors. We are already getting calls from their customers (we have referred back and forth over the years). We are getting bookings for Spring break. Don't wait too long as I'm sure we will fill up well in advance. The kennel will reopen this Thursday under the new owners. Julia will be helping, and it will still be in our name till all the paperwork is done. No changes in how the kennel is run. Mike has set the new price at $28 a day per dog, which is still a great price. Same phone number same hours. Please give us a call if you have any questions or need to make a reservation. 417-833-6069

From our longtime friend Connie about her trip to Bit of Country Kennel.

Hi Julia,
We took Newt down to A Bit of Country Kennel yesterday morning for a 24 hour stay. I was very surprised and pleased! Newt walked into this new place and went straight to Cathy who was crouched down with her hands forward, Newt gave her a sniff and soon she was giving his chin and neck a good rub down and he acted like he had always known her.
They tell me he did fine during his stay. He is a bit hoarse which is typical for Newt. When we picked him up he went over to Ken behind the desk to say hello or goodbye but seemed like he had made friends with him too.
It is a 30 minute drive to the kennel, they charge $30 for either type of kennel and cash payment is 10% off that price. Did I forget anything?
I am very comfortable taking Newt to them, thrilled I have a place I can board him without causing him stress. Pass on my recommendation to anyone who asks. Will miss seeing you and Bob but I'm excited for you to move on to your next stage of life. You are gonna love it!

Just wanted to share this from a few weeks back. Some are still calling about Christmas. I would suggest you start looking now if you're going to need boarding for Christmas....FROM EARLIER..... After 17 years, Julia and I are going to close the kennel on December 20, 2023. It has been our great pleasure to take care of your kid’s all these years. It’s time we do some traveling and enjoy our grandbabies. We have no plans to sell the place but if a good offer came along, we might. Things can change in a heartbeat, but this is our plan for now. We will also be closed September 5th thru 10th and October 28th thru November 5th.

Looking for a new pup. Bessie has been in foster for some 400 days now. We have boarded her several times and she's a good girl. Only has 3 legs but she doesn't care. Call us with any questions.

Had posted earlier that we would be closed from Oct 20th thru the 29th. We need to change that to Oct 28th thru Nov 5th.

The last thing we want to do is raise prices but, I’m afraid that’s what we need to do. Effective January 1, 2023, our prices will increase by $3 per day. That makes it $22 a day for the first dog. The second dog in the same run will stay at $10 a day. For intact males and puppies, we will be going to $25 day. If you have reservations already, we will honor the current prices.
