Important information about Clark County dog tags! 🐶🐾
2025 Clark County Dog Tags are on sale beginning today through January 31, 2025.
One-year, three-year and permanent (lifetime of dog) licenses are available this year. Cost is $22 for a one-year tag, $66 for the three-year tag and $220 for a permanent tag.
Beginning this year, Clark County has partnered with DocuPet for dog licensing services. All dog owners who purchased a tag last year will receive an email and a renewal in the mail with information about how to access their account online.
“We are excited about our partnership with DocuPet as their online licensing solution will be extremely valuable to dog owners and necessary for animal safety within the community,” said Clark County Auditor Hillary Hamilton. “This pet licensing partnership will help reduce the number of dogs in our local shelters and open space and vital resources for dogs that truly need care. We are excited for residents to utilize this program to help protect their dogs and all pets in the community.”

Tags can also be purchased in person at the Clark County Auditor’s Office, 31 N. Limestone Street, Springfield or the Clark County Dog Shelter, 5201 Urbana Road, Springfield. Dog tag purchases are not available at remote locations this year.
All dogs over three months old and that have been owned for more than 30 days are required to be licensed per the State of Ohio.
A dog license also serves as an identification tag, making it much easier for the Clark County Dog Warden’s Office to return a dog to their owner if they’re lost. The tag also serves as proof of ownership in case of a dispute.
Tags purchased after January 31, 2025 will be subject to a $22 penalty per tag.
All proceeds from Dog Tag purchases are used to fund the Clark County Dog Shelter.
