But just look at that husky's face. It was one of the best days of his life.

He was soon adopted after his spa day. The volunteers said how rewarding doing this for that big guy was. ❤️

That's what volunteering is all about. The care of the animals in residence at Sangamon County Animal Control.

ADOPTED: This precious little guy is Storm Trooper. He came in as a stray with his sister Princess Lei on 7/27. He was about to be adopted when he became very sick and was rushed over to AEC for care. Thankfully after a few days of being hospitalized he was well enough to be able to go home with his new family. Many thanks to his adopters for giving him a loving home in which to recuperate.

Senior Alert ‼️
She has been living in a kennel in a noisy shelter for five months.

This beautiful senior girl is Sasha.
She has a sweet personality.
Walks well on leash
She met a family and did well around the kids.

If you're thinking about adopting, please take the time to visit with a senior dog. Even if you don't adopt them, they'll be grateful just to get to meet new people and that they are loved even if they are in a shelter.

This is Sidy.
She is around 8 years old

She is not real playful but she is super cuddly! She loves to rub her face on yours. ☺️

This is her story-

When this poor girl came in as a stray to the shelter she was a hot mess. She was a pretty sick girl with a terrible URI that took her a little while to get over.
She was just one big hair mat too. She had not been groomed or cared for in a long time. Even through all this she stayed so sweet and never reacted in a mean way.
She deserves to be pampered and spoiled so please share and let’s get this girl in a home!!

We are having a volunteer recruitment event on August 17th starting at 1:30pm!
If you have been thinking about volunteering at our shelter but have some questions please come join us for this event and we will be glad to answer your questions!! The animals of your community need you! There are so many different things you can help with it is not just dog walking. We can always use help with enrichment for both the cats and dogs, laundry, bathing, socializing cats and dogs and of course walking of the dogs. We would love to have you!!!

Queen is one of my favorite little ladies at AC. She doesn’t show well in the kennel. She is frantic to get out so I know that’s why no one looks at her 💔

She is super sweet and loving once outside. Takes treats gently, sits and plays well with toys. Walk great on a leash. She is a great size as well. Petite size

I just hope someone will give her a chance.

ADOPTED: Chloe is just a pup about 4 months old, she came in as a stray on 8/2. Seems she was just what this couple had been looking for so Chloe's stay was a relatively short one. Many thanks for coming to SCAC to get this little girl out of kennel life.

Wow! We asked for help and our amazing community answered!!

The staff and volunteers are amazed and so grateful by the response for can chicken!

Staff have prepared and served the first round and the dogs are loving it!

It was suggested to add some pumpkin to the bowl as well.

We hate to ask for more but we only have a couple cans of pumpkin left.

If anyone could donate just one or two cans we could build our supply back up.

We need your help❗️

We have 7 dogs that are very malnourished and they will need chicken and rice. We have rice, just need chicken.

Dogs that are severely malnourished need to eat small meals of something that is easily digestible until they are at a point where they can be introduced to regular dog food.

If you are able to help you can drop the chicken off at animal control.

Don't you just hate when you tell your baby stuffy it's nap time but they don't want to settle down. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 This is Prince -(and Piggy) Where to start about this boy- Prince is a wonderful, sweet, silly young dog. He loves people He love toys We believe he would do good with another dog. Children in the home would need to be 10-12+ . This is because he still mouths like a puppy when he's playing or gets over excited. He is very scared to get in a car- However he thought going to the park was the best thing ever! Prince is an absolute joy to hang out with. Walked well on longline and he is very attentive to the person he's with. Considering is previous owner was neglectful and treated him poorly this boy is nothing but pure sweetness and love.

And now my friends we face the final decision. Please take a minute to watch the video and share. We pulled Bethany from SCAC because she could not handle kennel life. She had lost a considerable amount of weight, had rubbed all the fur off her face creating large sores on her muzzle., she was shutting down. We have spent a year trying to find her a home with very little interest. Bethany is now in a foster home that she cannot stay in. As stated in the video Beth can be a bit sharp and needs an owner who will provide structure, management and clarity. Too much freedom-Some dogs can handle it, some can't. Beth could not and unfortunately developed undesirable behaviors that can come along with that. We took Bethany to a professional trainer to make sure she is sound enough to be placed in a home As stated in the video Beth has done very well with training and they absolutely do believe Beth is a good dog and deserves a chance. If put into boarding how long until she will start to backslide and shutdown again. How long do we watch while all the life and love drains from her eyes. We do not want anyone to feel sorry for Beth. We just want a last chance at finding someone who might think she's worth taking a chance on. Please don't comment or tag other rescues-ALL ARE FULL-Many do not provide the amount of training that we do. Beth has the support of a good rescue and a great professional trainer-It doesn't get more dedicated than that. There are no happy sanctuary's to contact-This is honesty in rescue. 👉Courtesy post-these dogs are not at animal control. Happy Thursday !! 😃 Did you know there are still five of the Carolina dogs available for adoption through Illinois Humane? For those who are not familiar with the Carolina dogs let us reintroduce them. First "The boys" Drax and Rocket Drax-Silly, sweet, sly, playful Rocket-Sweet, laid back, shy, but learning to be playful. Likes to hang with his person. I wish there was a way to express the absolute joy you feel when you are with these boys. As you can see the are quite active but settle down nicely when play time is over. It would be great to keep them together but not required. However they would do best in a home with other dogs. If you don't know the history of this breed please take the time to do a little research. These boys survived a horrific hoarding situation back in October and have come such a long way in learning to trust . Now they need a home with a yard of their very own. A bed bought just for them, and a family to show them that life can be good and kind. If you would like to meet Drax and Rocket please contact Illinois Humane. Contact Information in in the comments.
