Lark is a 4 month old (DOB 04/07/24), male, purebred English Bulldog currently weighing in at 18lbs. He was placed with Valley Hills as a breeder release due to a significant heart murmur. While he doesn't display ANY clinical signs, it was graded at a 3 today by the vet. He tolerated anesthesia incredibly well, and is now neutered, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, and current on prevention. He’s crate trained, 80% potty trained (rings the bell when it’s in sight, but you have to be watching like any puppy) and great with other dogs. He's an active pup who is curious and loving; he just wants to fit in and be a part of the family. We are requiring another dog in the home as well as a fenced yard.
Due to his heart condition, keeping him at a healthy weight will be IMPERATIVE for his adopter. NO human food, high protein diet and plenty of moderate play/exercise. There shouldn't be any care needed for his heart other than having it monitored by your vet for changes as he ages. While there is no guarantee, at this point we expect him to live a very normal life, but will likely be on the lower end of the average lifespan for the breed (8-10 years).
While breed experience isn't required, it is preferred as this breed isn't an easy dog to own. They are at a higher risk for respiratory issues, heat sensitivity, skin issues, among other things. Many of these things can be easily avoided or managed with proper diet, exercise and hygiene.
Adoption fee is $300 and covers all his completed vetting. Applications can be completed at the link below!
