This one is huge! Big news in the herpetology field. Professor Rick Shine et al have scientifically proven the hundreds of millions of dollars (just in one region) saved by farmers who choose to keep mice-eating snakes on their farm rather than killing the helpful snakes. They robustly demonstrate the very minute risk of snakebite for farmers, contrasted heavily with the immense economic benefit they receive via markedly less crop damage from mice (remember the mice plague in NSW, Australia a few years ago??).

'Extinct' Lizard rediscovered in México

Despite efforts to locate populations of Goldman's Bunchgrass Lizard (Sceloporus goldmani), the species had gone without a single sighting since the early 1960's and some researchers even suggested the lizards were now extinct (http://www.herp.mx/pubs/2010-Sinervo-et-al-Erosion-of-Lizard-Diversity-by-Climate-Change-and-Altered-Thermal-Niches.pdf). That is until herpetologists Rubén Alonso Carbajal Márquez and Gustavo Quintero found dozens of additional specimens across four different states: Zacatecas, Jalisco, Aguascalientes, and San Luis Potosi. The full article detailng their amazing work is available herehttp://www.herp.mx/pubs/2016-Carbajal-Marquez-Quintero-Diaz-Poblaciones-Nuevas-de-Sceloporus-goldmani.pdf
