GO RUSSELL!!!!!
Our physical therapy department offers underwater treadmill therapy for patients who need extra support to walk. The water supports the patients' weight and allows them to practice the motions of walking while they build up the muscle strength needed to walk on their own.
Russell had disc disease causing him to lose the ability to walk with his hind legs. After corrective surgery, he is spending lots of time in the treadmill working to build his muscles and motor skills. Go Russell!
March 7 Cocktail Party for veterinarians and staff
As much as we love our clients- this cocktail party is for the veterinary professionals only!!!
Bubbles is a 3 year old male neutered domestic shorthair who presented on the 29th of July for inability to urinate. He had a history of having a previous obstruction, so once he was stabilized and a urinary catheter placed to unobstruct him, it was determined the best course of action was for him to undergo surgery. The surgery performed was a perineal urethrostomy, which is just a fancy way of saying a new opening was made to allow him to urinate unobstructed. He is recovering well from his surgery and will be going home soon to continue his recovery. Feline urinary obstructions can be difficult to recognize for some owners, but it can be life-threatening. One of the many ways in which the body eliminates toxins and balances electrolytes is via urination. An inability to urinate can cause a build up of these substances, which can cause arrhythmias of the heart, damage to the kidneys, and abnormalities within the brain. If you notice your cat is going in and out of the litter box, vocalizing frequently while urinating, straining to urinate, urinating blood, or urinating outside of the litterbox, have your cat evaluated by a veterinarian as these signs can indicate a urinary obstruction.
