Help Wanted! AI Tech, Mare/Foal Pairs

Are you a Vet Tech, Vet Tech in training, someone with laboratory experience, or a dedicated, responsible experienced equine rider and/or handler interested in working at an internationally renowned, local equine business right here in Springfield? Missouri Mule Company seeks a part-time AI Technician to start immediately!
Both Riding and Non-Riding positions are available.
Duties To Include:
Orchestrate and Execute our successful AI Breeding Program for the 2023 season
Requires excellent record-keeping, lab procedure, animal handling and communication skills. Our typical AI breeding season runs through September.
Collect Mammoth Jacks with artificial va**na
Keep track of cycling mares to ensure they are bred in season
Artificially Inseminate each mare at the appropriate time, keeping records
Coordinate mare veterinary appointments for the owner ( example: 21-day ultrasounds)
Shipping semen to clients, our veterinarian fulfills the semen collection and extension process, following established protocols.- You would be responsible for overseeing the process, and following approved shipping procedures.
Fill out FedEx shipping documents, as necessary, for overnight delivery.
Deliveries and Pickup to FedEX as needed, including some URGENT drop-offs that need to be at the drop-off location prior to 6PM.
Timely and accurate text, email and phone communications regarding all AI Breeding Operations.
Accurate and timely filing and storage of all AI breeding records for each “Mare Diary”
If a mare comes back into season, or she’s found to be open, continue the process until each open mare is settled and confirmed in foal.
Mare and Foal Care
Requires excellent equine handling experience (-youngstock experience preferred, but we can teach you-) record-keeping and communications skills.
When mares are found in foal, determine what pasturage situation will be the best fit for each mare and c**t combo and move them in.
Administer timely worming and vaccinations according to schedule
As 2023 develops through the foaling season, schedule NEXT year’s expected foaling dates, heavy graining dates, and vaccination dates for the pregnant mares for the rest of 2023 and the 2024 foaling season.
Early Foal Handling/Training - Our “MMCO PlayPen” Program
Begin and maintain Mule Diaries of early foal training experiences
Putting on/removing foal halters
Moving mare and foal pairs as needed
Work with the owner to determine when each foal is ready for leading/tying lessons
Supervise weaning/separations
Perform foal worming, vaccination and update paperwork by schedule
Continuing our purposeful and gentle foal training to make young mules that are respectful, and gentle and view humans as a reliable source of comfort and safety with foal leading and standing tied for short periods by their 4th week.

The hours are somewhat flexible, but many aspects of this job are on a schedule.
