We are a NO KILL animal shelter located in Springfield, Missouri. The shelter has many wonderful dogs and cats available for adoption. Our adoptions are first come, first served with an approved application. Adoption hours are Monday-Saturday from 12:00-6:00pm and Sundays from 12:00-5:00pm. Adoptable pets can be viewed in person at the shelter, located at 3161 W. Norton Rd in Springfield, or onlin

In an effort to end the pet overpopulation problem in Southwest Missouri, the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri also offers spay and neuter services to the community and low-cost spay and neuter services to those who could not otherwise afford it. How cute is Bonsai? Bonsai is a 1-year-old Domestic Shorthair mix looking for a furrr-ever home! She was found as a stray, and we have since discovered she is cat-friendly. 🐈 She tends to keep to herself and enjoys people watching!

Meet the adorable Krypto! Since the filming of this video, we have determined that Krypto is a Papillon mix. Krypto was found as a stray, and he’s been nothing but a sweetheart in his short time with us thus far. He seems to be house-trained, walks well on a leash, and is just missing his forever human. I'm the perfect companion for someone who enjoys the mellow side of life. Weighing in at a whopping 8 pounds, I would fit into most any home enviroment - a house or apartment is great for me. I would do best in a calm home with no kids, as I enjoy my quiet time. I do like other dogs and wouldn't mind a friend to play with! If you are bringing multiple cats, please separate them and use an individual cat carrier for each cat. We can only provide services to animals that are safe for our staff to handle. How handsome is Alexander? 😍 He is a Catahoula Leopard Dog/Pittie mix that is a pro at eating treats and making his people laugh! He is shy with new people and will take some time to warm up. Once he does, he is very loyal. He is house-trained and has a huge heart he's ready to share!
The only thing Alexander asks for in his future home is that he be your one and only baby. He previously lived in a home where he was the only pet and was treated like a king, but he sadly had to be returned to our shelter when his owner's health declined. He was so happy in his past home as the only child that he craves all the attention for himself. We promise he will give you so much love back! We need your help letting everyone know how easy it is to become a foster parent with us! The extra care that foster homes are able to provide is so crucial to our mission. We are always in need of fosters, especially right now during kitten season. The process is simple: to begin, just fill out a foster application on our website and our foster coordinator will be in contact with you.

You can foster short-term or long-term - the duration is up to you. There are so many options when it comes to fostering with us. All needed supplies for your foster pets are provided to you at no cost.
🐾 We have a finite amount of space at the shelter, but the amount of lives we can save through fostering is limitless with your help! For each animal in foster, a kennel space in the shelter opens up and allows us to assist another animal in need. It's a win-win for everyone!
🐾 If you fall in love with your foster, you get first choice of adopting them! Once the foster period is complete, you'll return your foster back to the shelter and they'll begin the search for their forever home. If you have fallen for your new furry friend and don't want to part ways, you get first choice of adopting them if you want to make them a permanent addition to your family!

Lennon and Lainey are sisters and a bonded pair. That means they have to be adopted to the same home and cannot be separated. They are 2 and 3 year old Anatolian Shepherd/Alaskan Husky mixes. They are both house-trained, loving, and energetic! Lennon (tan dog) is the more social dog of this duo, and she loves to play and talk with her sister. Lainey (white dog) is a bit more shy, but once she opens up, she is talkative as well! They will both most likely take a bit of time to warm up to any potential adopters interested.
Lennon and Lainey are both very playful and sweet! They are dog-friendly but not the biggest fan of cats. We recommend a dog meet and greet with any dogs you currently own just to ensure they all get along. Their ideal home is child-free and includes a backyard or space where they can play. Hello there, I'm Sox! As a senior citizen of the dog world, I've mastered the art of being a perfect companion. I'm house-trained, sweet as pie, friendly to all people, and a bit of a goofball at times. I may be small at 7lbs, but I have a large and fun personality! 🤩
I'm a 10-year-old Chihuahua, and my curiosity keeps me young at heart. I'm always ready for a new adventure or toy! I enjoy playing tug-of-war and giving kisses. I'm not shy and will make sure you know how loved you are! Since joining the shelter family, I have learned kids are pretty neat and don't mind being around them. I'm selective with my dog friends, preferring some over others. At my tiny size, I can sometimes get frightened by bigger canines! It's the last weekend of Empty the Shelters! Meet one of our special seniors you can adopt for just $25 today. ✨ Harvey is a Labrador Retriever mix, and like a true Lab, he's sweet, intelligent, and loyal. He knows several tricks - sit, shake, and up/beg! He is 9 years young and not slowing down anytime soon. Harvey is very well-behaved and housetrained, so you don't have to worry about teaching him the basics. He walks well on a leash, enjoys car rides, and is always up for a belly rub! Living on the streets is terrifying and dangerous for any animal. Imagine how much worse it was for little Willie who can barely walk! Yet somehow, he held on, desperately waiting for someone to save him. Thankfully, someone did find this lovable, one-year old Chihuahua just in time and brought him to our shelter. Right now, it’s hard to watch as Willie hobbles around, crisscrossing his back legs struggling to get around. But, despite his handicap and ordeal, Willie’s a determined little guy, so we’re just as determined to do everything possible to help him. After evaluation and diagnostics, our veterinarian is optimistic that surgery will help Willie be more comfortable and mobile. Sadly, he needs not just one surgery, but two – one for each back leg. Unfortunately, his journey from being crippled on the streets to finding a forever home is going to be long and expensive. We need your help to give Willie the help he desperately needs. This sweet girl was found at Fellow's Lake and brought to us in DESPERATE need! She officially weighs 107 pounds and has THORNS stuck in her fur! Please help us, help her. We are a No Kill animal shelter located in Springfield Missouri. The shelter has many wonderful dogs and cats available for adoption. Adoption hours are Monday - Saturday from 12pm to 6pm and Sundays from 12pm till 5pm. Adoptable pets can be viewed in person at the shelter located at 3161 W. In an effort to end the pet overpopulation problem in Southwest Missouri, the Humane Society also offers spay and neuter services to the community and low-cost spay and neuter services to those who could not otherwise afford the surgery.
