What do Daisy the Shetland Pony and Sahara have in common? Not only are they fabulous lesson ponies but both are 28 years old and still going strong! Little known fact about Daisy….. she is Boss Mare and leaves all the big horses quaking in their shoes! Both are starting to show their age with a frosting of white hairs through their dark coat color on their faces. The white hairs increase every year.

Nothing like a little green lipstick for the Grand Dame of VWMEC. Blondie and her friend Sahara have probably taught the most kids how to ride in Greene county than any other horse! She’s 25 this year and a rockstar! Because her teeth are older and worn down, we feed her a special watered down porridge of chopped hay, feed, vitamins and minerals. It makes a mess but keeps her in good weight throughout the winter!
