This handsome boy is 2-year-old Ricky Bobby. He was found on the side of the road in GA. They had thought he'd been hit by a car, but were shocked when the X-ray showed bullet fragments!! When we read his story we knew he had to come to VT where he would be safe and find a loving home. He is a very sweet boy who gets along very well with his feline roommates. He is healthy, just has an unusual gait. He will need to be an indoor-only cat as he’ll have a harder time outrunning predators. He has no issues getting around and climbs up high with all the other cats. Adoption fee--$125.

We are in need of a small fridge or a mini fridge for our canine friends! The refrigerator that we currently use for our dogs is on its way out, so we are hoping that we can find a replacement. Huxley and Hunter are 5 month old brothers seeking a loving home together. These bonded brothers are sweet, silly and loving! They make kitty friends very quickly and would be a great addition to a home with other cats. If you don’t have cats that’s fine as they’d have each other to for company. Adoption fees are usually $125 each but to keep them together and get them into a home asap their adopts fee is only $150 for the pair! If you would like to come see them we are open Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 4:00. If you want to adopt them same day fill out an application on our website spfldhumane.org so we can get you pre approved. These sweet boys won’t be here long so don’t delay!
August 1st is the official birthday of all rescued dogs known as Dogust 1st. To celebrate this we are taking $100 off all dog and puppy adoption fees from now until Saturday. We did not want to leave out the kitties so all adults will have $25 off and kittens $50 off their adoption fees. If you want to adopt the same day please go to our website spfldhumane.org and fill out an application. Otherwise walk-ins are welcomed. We are open Wednesday through Saturday from 12-4. Note that during bad weather we only have 1 room to show dogs in and priority will go to approved applicants or people with appointments. If it is nice outside we have outside pens for doggy meets and greets. Our kennels will remained closed to the public. During covid we, and shelters across the US, found the dogs were less stressed not having strangers walking through the kennels several times a day. The beautiful dog in the video is Feta and she is hoping her new family walks in to adopt her this week!

If you’re looking for a puppy some of these cuties are waiting to be your best friend. We do not know their mix but they are all beautiful and super sweet! Mom is a 33 pound super mix and dad is unknown. Their adoption fee is usually $450 but is only $350 for the month of July. They have been fixed, microchipped, wormed, flea meds and ready for a home! Yesterday was the start of the Empty the Shelter event. We are teaming up with BISSELL Pet Foundation to save lots of lives! All cats and dogs 7 months and older will have a $50 adoption fee from July 6th-29th. These are the amazing cats we currently have on the adoption floor. We have very few dogs, but thanks to this event we are pulling several from high kill shelters that will arrive on July 12th. We will have more information on them as we know who is coming. We are short staffed right now and lots of planned vacation time was already scheduled so we are open by appointment only with approved applicants. Go to our website spfldhumane.org and fill out an application. Puppies, kittens and rabbits are not part of this event but we didn’t want to exclude them so they too have a reduced adoption fees.
Cats (7 months and up)- $50

If you’re looking for a kitten these sweet babies just hit the adoption floor!! There is a litter of 6 grey, 2 females and 4 males. A grey male tabby and a regular tabby( this guy has someone coming to see him). Two medium haired black and white males and an all black female. They all came to us from a rescue in Virginia. Sadly the grey litter and the 2 tabbies were found in a taped up box left at the post office and the other 3 were dumped my a marsh. We are so happy we could help this overwhelmed rescue and know all these lucky babies will be in loving homes soon. To adopt one go to our website spfldhumane.org and fill out an application. Once approved will set up a time for you to meet them. If you have a vet you will need to contact them to give them permission to speak to us or we will not be able to process your application.
