Feel Good Fri-YAY!

Your support of our Pet Family Housing Initiative empowered us to assist another unhoused pet family this week. Nikki is a 6.5 year old Boston Terrier. She has been living apart from her hooman since Tysha had an accident requiring brain surgery. Although she was in good hands with relatives, these two missed each other terribly. Nikki lost weight and was depressed. During this time, Tysha became unhoused and found herself in shelter.

Our partner CSO/Friends of the Homeless shelter in Northampton referred Tysha to us. In order for these two to be reunited, Nikki needed her vaccinations. Kane's arranged a vet visit with our furrends at Holyoke Animal Hospital. Yesterday, we met Tysha and Nikki at the vet appointment with an emergency C.A.R.E. Kit of dry food, canned food, treats, a new leash, a toy and a winter coat.

Kane's sponsored $313.06 for Nikki's exam, vaccinations, nail trim and 6 pack of flea/tick treatment. This gave Tysha the green light to bring Nikki to the shelter with her. Anybody remember the Peaches an Herb song? Reunited, cuz it feels so good!

Kane's is very proud of our efforts to help unhoused and disabled veterans with their dogs. In addition to sponsoring exams, vaccinations, diagnostics, food, equipment and spay/neuter services, we also provide comfort and safety through our Pet Family Housing Initiative. Through this special program, we provide short term stays in dog friendly hotels. We have also boarded dogs for a few veterans with medical emergencies.

A powerful way to thank those who served is to help a veteran in need. Please support the Pet Family Housing Initiative. As the days get colder, every dollar counts.

Feel Good Fri-YAY!

Today we're celebrating an at-home spaw day! We love this picture Amelia's hooman sent us! Amelia is an emotional support animal for her disabled hooman. They were recently facing homelessness. Fortunately, they received a housing placement just in time. This is Amelia's first tubby in the new apartment.

Thanks to our Sponsor Dog program, Kane's has been assisting this pet family with Amelia's vet care and monthly medications. Without that support, these two would have been separated. By assisting Amelia with her quality of life, we automatically improved her hooman's quality of life. That's why we describe ourselves as a hybrid organization - focusing on animal welfare and the mental/physical wellbeing of vulnerable populations by preserving the human/animal bond.

We're giving BIG PAWS UP to our furrends at Arrha Credit Union!

Not only was Arrha a gold sponsor of the Kane's Pawsome 5K Festival this year, their employees held fundraisers in each of their four branches and set out donation boxes for their customers.

Along with team fundraising, the grand total for money contributed this year is $1, 747! Woo hoo!! That's some serious dog bones! Special shout out to Kimberly Tremblay for coordinating the employee team efforts and to Rachel Grimaldi for showcasing Kane's Krusade at the Arrha Sumner Ave Springfield branch. Your Donations At Work

Yesterday, we heard from an unhoused pet family we helped earlier in the year. We assisted with a short term motel stay and vet care. Jonathan reached out because his dog King had a sudden allergic reaction. Fortunately, King was seen in the afternoon and given some medication. The cause is still unknown and King is being monitored. Thank you for helping this pet family at a critical time - King is feeling better today because of you!

Feel Good Fri-YAY! Spaw Day!

Happy Howloween, Krusaders!!

We had two dogs with Spaw Days this week, thanks to our furrends at Dakin Humane Society Spay/Neuter Clinic. We shared Ruby's story earlier this week and today we're celebrating adorable nugget Livvy.

This is a younger picture of Livvy - she is around seven months old now. Not only did Livvy get spayed, she also got a booster shot, microchip and pawdicure. In addition, Livvy had a hernia that was repaired and we are so excited another surgery was not required! We love the S/N Clinic team - they consistently go the extra mile for our pet families!

Livvy's hooman is an elderly woman living on a tight fixed income. She recently lost her husband and Livvy is helping her cope with the loss. Dogs are healers. They are especially vital to our most vulnerable in society -- the elderly, disabled, veterans, domestic violence survivors and the unhoused. That's why the Kane's Krusade mission directly addresses the causes of surrender within these demographics. Thank you for supporting our work - together, we accomplish so much more!

Spaw Day Hooray!

Thanks to our furrends at the Dakin Humane Society Spay/Neuter clinic, Ruby had a spaw day yesterday! This beautiful pup was spayed, vaccinated, chipped and had a pawdicure. We love giving pups a great start!

Thank you, Rush Insurance Group!

We're giving BIG Paws Up to our furrends at Rush Insurance for their generous matching grant donation in support of our Pet Family Housing Initiative (PFHI). To encourage our donors and maximize our impact, Rush Insurance is matching donations up to a total of $250. That means that the first $250 in donations to PFHI will be doubled - double the impact, double the zoomies!

PFHI assists the unhoused, veterans and domestic violence survivors with dogs by providing short-term hotel stays to get pet families off the streets and into safety. We also provide vet care - wellness and sick exams, vaccinations and spay/neuter assistance.

We are currently working with Achilles (pictured) and his hooman Chuck, a veteran. This pet family is living in a tent and was referred by one of our Krusaders. Efforts are underway to connect Chuck with veteran services. Kane's will be sponsoring a vet visit for Achilles to update the rest of his vaccinations. The nights are cold now so we have offered this pet family a short term motel stay.

When you donate to our PFHI fund, we will provide life-saving resources and comfort to pet families like Chuck and Achilles. And the first $250 in donations will be doubled!

Feel Good Fri-YAY!

Look at these two handsome gentlemen! Cheddar is a 6 year old Golden Retriever. His hooman Lynn is an elderly woman. Along with the other dog in the pet family, they've been going through a lot recently. They had to move out of their apartment and are now renting one room. It's not ideal, but certainly better than living on the streets or having to give up her dogs.

We arranged a vet visit for Cheddar to receive his annual vaccinations. We also sponsored an ear cytology and medications for an ear infection. Cheddar often has hot spots this time of year and those are being treated as well. Thanks to your support, Cheddar is feeling better today!
