It's Feel Good Fri-YAY! Happy Valentine's Day! Matching Grant!

Today and every day, we are so grateful for the love and care you show our pet families!

Here's another Tail of Hope:

Meet Freya. She and her hooman Paul are currently unhoused. Freya is a 4 year old Collie mix, is up to date on all her shots and spayed, This pet family was referred to us by one of our Krusaders. Thank you, Cindy!

Thanks to your support, we sponsored $526.53 for six nights in a local dog-friendly motel. Paul is actively looking for housing and more sustainable employment. This short term stay gets them off the cold streets, providing some relief while they rebuild.

Paul said on his application: "As of right now, housing for me and my dog is the only thing I need help with. If I can get into a place everything should hopefully fall into place plus I don't wanna ask for too much help." We frequently hear this - the people who need the most help are often hesitant to ask for it. We can't wave a magic wand for Freya and Paul, but that doesn't stop us from doing what we CAN do. Caring about pet families in our community is never a bad thing. More than ever, we need to show each other that we're in this thing called life together. Kindness is a language everyone can speak.

We're giving BIG PAWS UP to our furrends at the Holyoke Community College Vet Tech program for providing exams, vaccinations, bloodwork, heartworm preventative and more to Kane's pet families. Our families raved about the care they received from Dr. York, her staff and her students. We are very grateful for this partnership and the wonderful services provided.

Feel Good Fri-YAY!

Thanks to your support, we shipped a 40 lb bag of dry food to a pet family referred to us by the Red Cross. This family lost their home when someone crashed into their living room last year and made the house uninhabitable. We assisted the pet family with a short term motel stay last year and they have since found a rental that allows both their dogs.

Kizer is a year old German Shepard and Maxx is 8 years old. Kizer is getting neutered. The pet family was able to cover the cost of neutering but the extra bill put a strain on an already tight budget. Thanks to you, we stepped in and helped with some food. In big and little ways, we continue to be there for pet families when they need help the most -- all because of YOU!

Look at this little nugget in his hoodie! Galito was all bundled up for his visit to our furrends at the Holyoke Community College Vet Tech program this week. Kane's is fortunate to have a wonderful partnership with HCC. Every year, a number of pet families receive complementary vet exams, bloodwork, heartworm prevention, flea/tick treatment and more. We are so grateful for this opportunity - every dollar we save is a dollar that can help another pet family. Five additional Kane's dogs will have their appointments next week. Thank you, Dr. York, staff and students!

We're giving BIG PAWS UP to our furrends at Lou's Bagel Nook in Hampden, MA. For the last several years, Lou has hosted a holiday fundraiser for Kane's. Through the generosity of her customers, Lou raised $300 and then matched this amount. We're also excited to announce this $600 will be doubled through a matching grant incentive going on right now. More info on our matching grant in the future.

Feel Good Fri-YAY!

Meet Teddy Bear a 10 year old Maltese/Bichon combo referred by our furrends at Tufts at Tech Community Veterinary Clinic. Teddy Bear had a tumor on his leg that was open and bleeding. His hooman Melina was distraught; she is a single mom with a 4 month old at home and times are tough. Without our support, Teddy Bear would still be suffering today. We are so grateful to help this pet family. Melina contributed $98 that she raised through crowdfunding and we sponsored the remaining $297.59.

"I am forever grateful for the invaluable help. The doctors were able to remove Teddy's whole tumor and successfully close his wound. And he's home recovering well in my arms thanks to you! Your support has brought peace back into my life and I am deeply thankful. Feel Good Fri-YAY!

Meet King, a 9 year old Beagle/Pekingese combo. His hooman is currently out of work and reached out to Kane's for vet care assistance regarding King's skin issues. Thanks to our furrends at Dakin Humane Society Pet Health Center, King was treated yesterday and went home with antibiotics and prednisone. Thanks to our Krusaders, we sponsored $143.11. We'll be adding this pet family to our C.A.R.E. Kit roster to receive dog food deliveries to get them through this rough patch. Another loved dog kept with his furever family thanks to you!

Please Read -- A Message From Our Founder

Today, we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. I've been thinking a lot lately about hope - not the passive, blind kind of hope - ACTIVE hope. Hope is transformative, hope is life-changing when it is in motion. The pure essence of hope is love in action. This is a core value of Kane's Krusade.

We were inspired (nearly 14 years ago!) to explore different solutions to long-time problems. In the early days, we didn't have a handbook or a manual and a lot of the time, it was a hopeful experiment.

Our guiding force remains the same - Active Hope. We have the audacious belief that goodness and kindness matter. That meeting people where they are at and offering resources and good will creates opportunities for growth. The audacious belief that we don't have to accept the way things are just because they've always been that way. That even though we are small, we are powerful in our pursuit of a more kind and just community. That lifting people up benefits everyone. Doing the right thing for the most vulnerable in society may not be easy, convenient or wrapped up in a pretty bow, but doing the right thing is always right on time.

The world has it's share of disappointment, sadness, injustice and greed. But we can choose not to feed that part of the world. We can choose to do what we can, when we can, where we are, with what we have, for as long as we can. That, my dear friends, is ACTIVE HOPE.

So if you're looking for hope, if you're looking for a group of committed people making real change in their community, look to us. We've been actively providing hope for well over a decade and we're just getting started.

Feel Good Fri-Yay! Rubey Pupdate!

Rubey is a sweet elderbull in our C.A.R.E. Kit program. Today she went back to our furrends at Holyoke Animal Hospital for a recheck on an ear infection. Unfortunately, this seems to be caused by allergies which are an ongoing concern requiring steroids. We are so grateful to our Krusaders. Your donations sponsored $83.31 today and another $74.19 earlier this month. Rubey also remains on a limited ingredient diet.

Rubey was found by her hooman Judy's son about 2 years ago. She was abandoned in a crate in a dark basement with no food or water. She had apparently been like that for a few days. Judy welcomed Rubey into her home. This pet family was referred to us last year by Holyoke Animal Hospital. Judy is an elderly woman and cannot afford Rubey's medications without our assistance. Two Krusaders stepped up to sponsor Rubey monthly - thank you Donna and Lynn! We are still looking to add additional sponsors for this sweet girl. You will receive monthly email updates with your donation. How wonderful that we can work together to make the rest of Rubey's life the BEST of her life!

Thank you, Tina!

We're doing zoomies over here cuz we just heard the results of last week's fundraiser Christmas With Kane's! After expenses, over $3,500 was raised! And it gets better - thanks to a matching grant that began January 1st, that amount will be DOUBLED!

We are so grateful to Tina Perreault, founder of Mason’s Mission. Tina was inspired by the love of her pittie Mason to create a group that fundraises for animal charities in the area. This is such a urgently needed mission. Every hour we don't have to spend fundraising is an hour we can dedicate to assisting more pet families.

Tina is an amazing woman with boundless energy, talent and compassion. She has overcome obstacles in her own life to do great things. Although Mason has passed, his spirit lives on in the wonderful legacy Tina created.

Join us for Pits & Giggles Comedy Night the evening of April 4th at the View Street Tavern in Chicopee MA. We've wanted to do an event like this since our early days and couldn't be more excited to launch this in 2025!

Who doesn't need a laugh? Pits & Giggles features several comedians and we'll have lots of raffles to win! All proceeds keep loved dogs with their furever families!

About last night....🎶💃🥂🎉💓 We are truly humbled and inspired by the love and support that filled the room last night at the 2nd Annual Christmas With Kane's Gala! We cannot do what we do without the love, hope and support of our community. Your generosity fills our cup.

Thanks To You!

Yesterday, Kane's Krusade provided an emergency C.A.R.E. Kit to a pet family in need. Tyler was referred by a former Kane's family. Tyler is disabled and living in a camper in a friend's backyard. He has three dogs - Flea, a 7 month old Australian Cattle Dog; Soxx, a 9 month old Husky and Breagain, a 9 year old spaniel/shih tzu combo.

Tyler was so anxious about his dogs when he called us for help. Yesterday, he received a C.A.R.E. Kit including 125 lbs of dry dog food, wet food, treats, dog bowls, a collar and two leashes. We will be assisting Tyler with spay/neuter for his two young dogs and updating shots. Stay tuned for pupdates!

We are only able to respond to situations like this because you give, care and share. Thank you for helping us keep these loved dogs with their furever hooman.

Robert and Tahya Thank You!! Krusaders, you've blown us away! Thank you for all your generous donations to assist Robert and his emotional support animal Tahya. We visited this pet family today and delivered a $150 grocery gift card and a $100 Visa gift card for gas. Robert has frequent appointments at the VA campus in Northampton and we wanted to make sure he had gas to get there. These two are so grateful for their motel room and all your help. Tahya seems like a different dog since moving into the motel. She is playful and happy. We took this video to show you how good they are doing.
