Feel Good Fri-YAY!

Meet Gizmo, a 6 year old Pug/Beagle combo. Isn't he the cutest little munchkin? He and his hooman found themselves needing a place to stay. One of our current pet families opened up their home to these two and reached out to us. Today we brought an emergency C.A.R.E. Kit of dry food, canned food and treats.

For many, times are tough. Thank you for helping us look out for the most vulnerable in our community.

Home For The Howlidays - Sponsor Chi Chi

This sweet elderbull lives with her disabled elderly hooman in Springfield. To be more accurate, they live for each other. When you meet these two, it's obvious Chi Chi inspires Maria to get through the day and Chi Chi clearly adores her hooman.

Chi Chi is a mast cell cancer survivor living with several chronic conditions including severe allergies which require prescription food and daily medication. She also requires frequent rechecks to monitor her medication effectiveness. Maria contributes what she can, but cannot afford Chi Chi's care without our assistance. We are looking for 4 new monthly sponsors to continue our support in 2025.

Home For The Howlidays - Sponsor Boots!

Thank you to the Krusaders who have sponsored our special needs dogs! We are still in need of additional sponsors - in particular, Boots is one of our greatest needs. This cute little old man is a 20 year old Chihuahua living with his hooman Pablo and brother Chi in Springfield.

Boots has a serious heart murmur requiring daily medication and 6 month diagnostics. Pablo is an elderly disabled man working two part time jobs and struggling to get by. This pet family received a monthly C.A.R.E. Kit. We are asking for your support so that we can continue to assist with medications and ultrasounds in 2025.

OMD! Christmas came early this year! We're doing zoomies after picking up a BIG donation our furrends at Salmon Brook Veterinary Hospital! They held their annual pet food drive on Saturday. We are so grateful to be one of the organizations benefiting from the community's tremendous generosity. And boy did we need this donation! After our huge C.A.R.E. kit distribution last month, the shelves were looking pretty bare. So thank you to everyone who participated in the recent food drive. Many pet families will benefit in 2025.

Feel Good Fri-YAY!

Meet Sophia, a three year old Yorkipoo. Thanks to you, we ensured this little cutie had a SPAW Day. In addition to getting spayed, she also had her vaccinations updated and was microchipped. Sophia's hooman contributed $200 and we sponsored the balance of $187. Without our contribution, this pet family would not have gotten the care they needed.

It's Home For The Howlidays!

Every howliday season we feature some of our special needs dogs in need of sponsors. These dogs have chronic conditions requiring prescription medications and often prescription food. All of the hoomans in these pet families are disabled, seniors and/or living on a fixed income. They would not be able to provide for their dogs medical needs without our support.

Blue is a senior pittie living in Springfield MA. He has serious allergies which require daily prescription medication. His diet is also limited. This year, Blue also had some troubling issues with balance. The symptoms have subsided and we hope there is nothing neurological going on.

Blue needs monthly sponsors to assist with his allergy medication and vet checkups. When you sign up for our Krusader Klub for at least $25 a month and choose Blue as your designee, we will send you a 2025 Kane's Kalendar which features Blue. This offer is good through December 15th.

You can also sponsor Blue in honor or memory of someone. A meaningful sponsorship makes a great gift for those hard-to-buy-for hoomans in your life. Sign up by the 23rd and we will notify your recipient by email with a message of your choice.

We're giving BIG PAWS UP to our furrends at Lou's Bagel Nook in Hampden MA for hosting their annual holiday fundraiser for Kane's. Lou matches the generosity of her customers and we can't thank her enough for helping us keep loved dogs with their furever families. Feel Good Fri-YAY!

Thanks to you, Bae Bae (brown and white dog) got the exam and bloodwork she needed to continue medications for her chronic conditions. Bae Bae and her hooman Mary have been a Kane's family since 2018. Mary is disabled and lives with her two dogs and birds. Thank you for helping us give this pet family a better quality life. We sponsored $100 for the visit and Mary contributed $11.40. Our pet families give what they can. This empowers us to pay it forward to the next pet family in need.

Help an unhoused pet family today!

A lack of affordable housing and rising prices have created a perfect storm in Massachusetts. Right now, there is a waiting list for shelter. This means people have no where to go, no respite from the cold. And if you have a dog, finding housing is that much more challenging. Pet families are forced to sleep in their car, in a tent or worse - on the street. According to the Human Animal Support Services Pet Eviction Calculator, 9,470 households are behind on rent in Hampden County, which could lead to thousands of pet evictions.

We know you have many great causes to support. Your donation to Kane's Krusade this Giving Tuesday provides urgently needed funds for our Pet Family Housing Initiative (PFHI) which advocates for pet families in need of housing and assists those with emotional support animals and service animals. PFHI assists pet families in three categories:

* Disabled veterans and their dogs
* Short term motel stays providing a bridge to shelters and housing
* Emergency Canine Assistance, Resource and Empowerment (C.A.R.E.) Kits including
dog food, equipment, vet care, vaccinations and spay/neuter assistance to
unhoused and domestic violence survivor pet families

Imagine being in an abusive situation and not being able to get to safety. This is the unfortunate reality for too many. Help us support those in crisis. All Giving Tuesday donations this year support our Pet Family Housing Initiative which advocates for those with emotional support and service animals, as well as disabled veterans, domestic violence survivors and the unhoused.

Your support empowers us to provide short-term motel stays to keep pet families out of the cold, emergency C.A.R.E. Kits of dog food, crates, leashes, collars and other equipment. It provides spay/neuter and vet care assistance and addresses landlord/housing requirements.

Meet Bella. This 10 year old cutie was referred to us by our furrends at Tufts at Tech Community Veterinary Clinic. Bella recently had bladder stone surgery and also needed a dental. Thanks to your support, we sponsored the remaining $217.48 so Bella could get the surgery she needed. Thank you for helping us keep a senior dog with her furever family!

We're giving PAWS UP to our furrends at Westfield Animal Control and Shelter for sharing their abundance of donations with us. Dry and canned dog food, treats, p*e pads and cat food. After our huge C.A.R.E. Kit distribution last weekend, we are working to fill the shelves for our next delivery. This donation came at the perfect time!

We had three Krews out this past weekend delivering food to over 60 pet families in the 413. Many weeks of planning and preparation go into these customized C.A.R.E. Kits of dog food, treats, p*e pads, equipment and more. We also distribute cat food to our pet families with cats when it's donated.

This is only possible because of our amazing Krew members - Heidi B., Carl W., Joel K., William D., Kent W., Jeanne C., Sherry M., Shane T. and Jill L. We also want to give BIG PAWS UP to all the organizations and local businesses who donate items for our C.A.R.E. Kits: Eastfield Hospital for Animals, Dakin Humane Society, Smithland Pet Center, Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center, Westfield Animal Control and Shelter and Salmon Brook Veterinary Hospital.
