We're giving PAWS UP to the Springfield Thunderbirds for inviting us to the Pucks & Paws game yesterday. We met lots of great people and pups and shared about our mission to keep loved dogs with their furever families. Thanks to Board Member Jill L. and Family Krew Member Joel K. for manning the booth!

The most touching moment of the evening was when a young woman donated. Her sister was crying because she missed their dog. After they left, she messaged us and said their dog was named Kane too and if they had received help like we provide they might still have him.

The work we do matters. Thank you for helping us reach more pet families.

Feel Good Fri-YAY - Blue Pupdate!

2024 has been a challenging year for Blue, a senior pittie in Springfield. He started the year with a growth on his gums that had to be removed. In the spring, he developed some concerning symptoms. Vestibular disease or a brain tumor was feared. But gradually over the summer, Blue slowly improved and he is doing so much better today! He remains on meds to help with his allergies and we are hopeful he will continue to bounce back.

OMD!

Our amazing Krusaders Jake and Sam are vet techs by day and have a pawsome side project called JAAM. (See what they did there?) They create wood cuttings in all sorts of creative shapes. They created a very special wood cutting for our dear friend Ray Hoess-Brooks, featuring his two dogs.

Jake and Sam came up with the idea to donate all the proceeds from their craft table at Whisker Wonderland to Kane's - grand total $1,265! We are blown away by this and beyond grateful for their thoughtfulness, hard work and compassion for our pet families. It doesn't get much better than this!

The world is full of good, kind hearted people. Jake and Sam are bright lights in our community!

We're giving PAWS UP to our furrends at Eastfield Hospital for Animals. Last week, we picked up 240 pounds of dry dog food from them. Each month, they provide dry dog food for our C.A.R.E. Kit families in the Greater Springfield area.

These contributions make our C.A.R.E. Kit program possible. And the timing is perfect as we are starting to pack our deliveries in the next week. Thank you, Eastfield Hospital For Animals!

I'm 8 years young with a personality twice my size! And I'm doing zoomies today because my hooman is home from the hospital! I missed her sooo much!

We're happy Rocky's hooman is feeling better. Last week, thanks to Rocky's monthly sponsors, we contributed $84 towards 2 cases of his prescription food. Rocky has a kidney condition requiring a special diet. His hooman contributed the balance of $40.

Celebrating Leal

Today, Leal crossed the rainbow bridge. This sweet 17 year old Cockapoo and his hoomans have been a Kane's pet family since the spring of 2023. Leal first came to us in rough shape - barely able to walk and his quality of life was definitely compromised. Thanks to your support, we sponsored vet care and medications that extended time with his family by 17 months. This dog was SO loved.

We are very grateful Leal and his family could stay together. Our hearts go out to his people. This picture was taken on Halloween this year. Leal, you were the goodest boi.

Feel Good Fri-YAY!

Phoebe Pupdate!

Phoebe and her hooman were referred to us by the Red Cross. They were displaced due to a fire and were living in a rental while repairs were made. Phoebe needed to be spayed and with all the recent loss, Jonathan could not afford one more expense. Thankfully, we coordinated a SPAW day for Phoebe with our furrends at Dakin Humane Society.

Fast forward a few months and Phoebe and her hooman are still living in a rental. Phoebe has been struggling with being in her crate during the day while Jonathan is at work. Even though he has someone let her out twice a day, she continues to be anxious. Jonathan reached out to us and we sponsored a visit to South Paw Animal Care so Phoebe could receive some calming meds and a rabies vaccination.

Thank you for helping us ease this sweet soul's day while she and her hooman wait to return to their home.

Feel Good Fri-YAY!

When a Kalendar is worth a thousand words . . .

Thanks to our monthly donors, Kane's sponsored a 90 day supply of allergy meds to keep Chi Chi comfortable and itch free. When we dropped off the medication, we brought a 2025 Kane's Kalendar to Chi Chi's hooman Maria. This pet family was one of the contest winners and is featured in the month of August.

It was a joy to see Maria's reaction and watch her go slowly through the Kalendar page by page. She is so proud of Chi Chi and she said the Kalendar is a treasure forever. Your Donations At Work

Last week, we transported Hades and his hooman Joel to an appointment with our furrends at the Dakin Humane Society Pet Health Center. Hades was getting his distemper/parvo booster. Unfortunately, he also tested positive for Lyme Disease and another tick-borne illness. He will be started on antibiotics. We'll keep you pupdated. Thanks to you, we sponsored $170.

Joel is part of our Family Krew and worked super hard at the Kane's Pawsome 5K helping us load, unload, set up and so much more. Lots of our Family Krew volunteered over the weekend and it was great having everyone be a part of our largest fundraiser of the year.

A Pawsome Weekend Indeed!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Kane's Pawsome 5K in Chicopee on Saturday and the Trunk or Treat on Sunday in Ludlow! We'll be sharing more pictures but wanted you to see a few from Sunday.

Thank you, aura day spa, for choosing Kane's as this year's beneficiaries! We loved meeting everyone and seeing all the fun costumes! We received some great donations for our pet families - perfect timing with C.A.R.E. Kits coming up in November!

Robert and Tahya Thank You!! Krusaders, you've blown us away! Thank you for all your generous donations to assist Robert and his emotional support animal Tahya. We visited this pet family today and delivered a $150 grocery gift card and a $100 Visa gift card for gas. Robert has frequent appointments at the VA campus in Northampton and we wanted to make sure he had gas to get there. These two are so grateful for their motel room and all your help. Tahya seems like a different dog since moving into the motel. She is playful and happy. We took this video to show you how good they are doing. They are currently unhoused and need a short term stay until they can move into their new apartment on January 30th. Today we spread a little Thanksgiving joy by visiting Crystal and her family. Crystal is an unhoused disabled woman struggling to find housing with her 2 children, 2 dogs and 2 cats. Today they received a second C. A.R.E. Kit and we extended their motel room a week, keeping them off the streets. They also received a Thanksgiving feast courtesy of John, manager at the Big Y in Weathersfield CT. Thank you, John, for your kindness! And thank you to all our Krusaders who help us keep pet families safe.
