So satisfying. Blowing out a very compacted coat.
This guy did very well, considering it was his first actual full groom. Notice the coat on the outside may looked brushed. But, underneath, it's matted. This is why combing to the skin, along with brushing, regularly, at home is important. Plus starting pups young with the professional grooming process is vital. Professional pet grooming is a pet health service.
Miki is usually on a regular schedule to maintain her full fluffy coat. But life happens, and she hasn't been groomed for a bit. The fur on the ears and tail take the longest to grow back. Though her momma would have understood if I had to shave, she really wanted to save what coat was possible. I was fortunate to save the ears, and to do the finish with a short attachment comb. This video shows the 'rough-in' process, where the longest blade possible was used due to matting. Some of my professional peers may believe dematting like this is inhumane and not worth the extra costs. It is hard on my hands, wrists, and equipment. I made sure that there was no redness or irritation to Miki's skin, and she had the temperment for it. I was happy to do it, and both Miki, and her momma, were very happy that Miki was feeling like an uptown dog again. After pic of Miki in the comments.
Sorry about Ruby in the background. That's who you are hearing. She just wanted Chloe's sole attention, while she was filming this short little video real quick. But Ruby didn't care, she wanted Chloe come get her right now lol.
