Colonial Animal Hospital is a full service medical and surgical veterinary hospital located in Midtown Springfield, VA, focused on dogs and cats. Our philosophy is preventative health medicine which we individualize based on the animal's age and lifestyle. With the annual exam other preventative health measures are discussed based on the patient's needs. Colonial Animal Hospital believes in lifest

yle vaccinating. Vaccines are divided into core vaccines and optional vaccines. Optional vaccines are decided based on the pet's lifestyle. During the annual exam the patient's dental health is evaluated. We provide full service dentistries at Colonial Animal Hospital. Home care for the teeth is demonstrated at discharge. We can perform most necessary blood work in the hospital. Annual blood screening is recommended for all animals over 8 years of age. Other laboratory tests are sent out to a nationally recognized veterinary lab. Colonial provides most routine surgical procedures for its patients. We use the safest anesthetic protocols available and customize them the patient's needs. Pain management protocols are incorporated into all surgical procedures. Colonial offers on site radiology and ultrasound. X-rays are taken and developed by our trained veterinary assistants. We provide the Home Again microchip identification system to our clients. Medicated and regular baths are available for both dogs and cats. Colonial Animal Hospital offers a choice of 2 online pharmacies (Colonial Rx Online and VetStore) to our clients. 🎃🐾 Halloween Safety Tips for Your Pets! 🐾🎃

Halloween is a fun time for humans, but it can be a little spooky for our furry friends! Here are a few quick tips to keep your dogs and cats safe:

👻 Keep Treats Out of Reach – Chocolate, xylitol (in sugar-free gum), and candy wrappers can be toxic to pets.

🕯️ Watch Decorations – Pets may chew on wires or knock over candles. Opt for pet-safe, flameless décor.

🎭 Costume Caution – If your pet wears a costume, make sure it fits well, doesn’t restrict movement, and is free of small, chewable parts.

🚪 Secure the Door – Trick-or-treaters coming and going? Keep pets safely inside and away from the front door to prevent escapes.

🔖 ID is a Must – If your pet does slip out, proper ID tags and microchips help them get home safely.

In honor of National Cat Day, we’re celebrating our very own hospital cat, Liam! 😻

Liam is such a special part of our team. He is full of sass, charm, and lots of personality. He loves his treats, his ever growing collection of adorable outfits, and yes… he even has his own closet!

Of course, no day with Liam is complete without a little mischief. He's known to sneak into the food closet and attempt to steal our clients’ snacks.

Chloe came in for her check-up today and decided to take matters into her own paws while waiting for the doctor! 🐶💻 She hopped up in the exam room and looked like she was ready to pull up her own medical records. We always love seeing this sweet, smart girl – she definitely knows how to make herself at home!
