☀️ Summer Is Here! Keep Your Pets Cool and Safe 🐾
As the temperatures continue to rise, we want to remind all our pet parents about the importance of keeping your furry friends safe and cool during the summer months. Dogs are especially vulnerable to heat-related illnesses, and a little extra care can go a long way in protecting them.
Here are a few quick tips to help your pup stay safe in the heat:
🌡 Avoid midday walks: Try to walk your dog early in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler.
🔥 Check the pavement: If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws!
🚗 Never leave pets in the car: Even with windows cracked, temperatures can rise dangerously fast.
💧 Hydration is key: Always have fresh, cool water available at home and on the go.
🌳 Offer shady spots: Whether indoors or outdoors, give your pet access to a cool, shaded space.
🌬 Watch for signs of heatstroke: Excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, or vomiting are red flags—call us immediately if you notice any of these.
At Colonial Animal Hospital, we’re here to help you keep your pets happy and healthy all summer long. If you have any questions about heat safety or want to schedule a summer wellness check, give us a call at 703-451-5400
