Colonial Animal Hospital is a full service medical and surgical veterinary hospital located in Midtown Springfield, VA, focused on dogs and cats. Our philosophy is preventative health medicine which we individualize based on the animal's age and lifestyle. With the annual exam other preventative health measures are discussed based on the patient's needs. Colonial Animal Hospital believes in lifest

yle vaccinating. Vaccines are divided into core vaccines and optional vaccines. Optional vaccines are decided based on the pet's lifestyle. During the annual exam the patient's dental health is evaluated. We provide full service dentistries at Colonial Animal Hospital. Home care for the teeth is demonstrated at discharge. We can perform most necessary blood work in the hospital. Annual blood screening is recommended for all animals over 8 years of age. Other laboratory tests are sent out to a nationally recognized veterinary lab. Colonial provides most routine surgical procedures for its patients. We use the safest anesthetic protocols available and customize them the patient's needs. Pain management protocols are incorporated into all surgical procedures. Colonial offers on site radiology and ultrasound. X-rays are taken and developed by our trained veterinary assistants. We provide the Home Again microchip identification system to our clients. Medicated and regular baths are available for both dogs and cats. Colonial Animal Hospital offers a choice of 2 online pharmacies (Colonial Rx Online and VetStore) to our clients. Check out our website: www.colonialvets for more information.

Please join us in celebrating 20 years of Sarah! 🎊🎈🎉🥰

Sarah worked her way up the Colonial ladder to hold one of our most important titles- Hospital Manager. We lovingly call her our “chaos coordinator” and CAH could not run without her dedication, knowledge, patience and fairness.

Thank you Sarah for making Colonial run smoothly to help care for our most valuable patients…your furry family member! 🐾🐾

NYE is right around the corner!

Please consider SILEO when it comes to your pet's stress over fireworks this holiday season.

SILEO is a medication prescribed by your veterinarian to help calm your dog when frightened by loud noises (noise aversion). Common noise aversion triggers include fireworks, thunder, construction work, traffic or street noise, celebrations, vacuum cleaners and smoke detectors.

November marks National Pet Diabetes Month! Consequently, awareness is being raised about this lifelong condition affecting approximately 1 in 300 adult dogs and 1 in 230 cats in the United States to ensure veterinarians provide companion animals with proper diagnosis and treatment options so they can live fulfilling lives.

Diabetes keeps pets from producing or utilizing insulin appropriately, which prevents the conversion of food to energy; as a result, extra sugar remains in the blood resulting in lethargy and other health-related complications. Though this disease has no cure, it can be managed with treatment and monitoring so pets can continue to thrive!

At National Today, we observe Pet Diabetes Month by telling you everything you need to know about diabetes in pets and how to tackle it.

At Colonial Animal Hospital, we believe that your pet deserves the best in care. That’s why we’re so proud of the veterinary professionals on our staff and want to celebrate them during Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week!

The National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America created this week of recognition, and we’re joining them by acknowledging the members of our staff who are Certified or Registered Veterinary Technicians, and others who are on their way to becoming credentialed. Through their hard and absolutely essential work alongside our veterinarians and office staff, they play a vital role in preserving animal health and welfare.

If you’re scheduled to come in any time in the near future, we hope you’ll have the opportunity to meet these dedicated members of our team!

Calling All Well-Dressed Pets!

Saturday, October 21st from 12pm to 3pm

They say you’re never fully dressed without a smile, but we’re taking things to the next level.

As part of our Client Appreciation Day, we’re having a pet costume contest that’s not to be missed. Whether your pet loves to get in costume or is more of a “go as themselves” type, we want to see you there!

This event has it all—delectable treats (and no tricks!), games and prizes, gift baskets, a photo booth…and hopefully you!

If you have any questions or need more information, just give us a call at (703) 451-5400.

It’s Our Spooktacular Client Appreciation Day!

Saturday, October 21st from 12pm to 3pm

Our wonderful clients are why we’re here, and we wanted to take some time to show everyone how much we appreciate and value you. Please join us at the hospital for our Halloween-tastic Client Appreciation Day!

There will be food, fun, games and prizes, and gift baskets—and that’s just the beginning! We’ll also have a caricature artist and a photo booth to commemorate the festivities.

Since it wouldn’t be Halloween without costumes, we're having a pet costume contest—let’s see those fur babies in their spooky, silly best! And if you want to dress up too, the more the merrier.

Please call us at (703) 451-5400 for more information—we hope to see you there!

We’re certain you’ll recognize this smiling face, particularly if you’re a long-time client! Please join us in congratulating and celebrating Monica Vasquez for nine years of dedicated service to the clients and patients of Colonial Animal Hospital. Monica’s advanced skill set, steadfast commitment to patient care, and attention to detail make her invaluable. Add in her strong love of the profession and wonderful bilingual skills that allow us to better serve our Spanish speaking clients, and we simply don’t know what we’d do without her. No seriously—we don’t. Please don’t ever leave, Monica. It wouldn’t be the same without you. 😊 Thank you for all that you do—you’re appreciated beyond measure!
