Back to school time can be stressful for our four legged friends. For the past three months the house may have been more full. They got lots of attention and now with the kids gone, they may be a little anxious with an empty house.

Getting all members of the family used to the new school schedule (and don't forget after school activities) can be a challenge. Pencil in some time for walks, snuggles, and play time for your pets. Good luck out there!

Laketown Animal Hospital is celebrating 21 years of AAHA accreditation!!

What makes a vet practice AAHA accredited?

To become AAHA-accredited, a veterinary hospital voluntarily agrees to adhere to the highest standards of excellence in the veterinary profession. An AAHA-accredited hospital undergoes regular evaluations and inspections on stringent veterinary standards that cover topics like quality patient care and safety, pain management, team training, and medical record keeping. AAHA- accredited veterinary hospitals go the extra mile to protect the health and happiness of pets.

Fireworks will begin in some neighborhoods tonight. Loud and repetitive noises may cause a pet to run. Be safe and be prepared this holiday by following these Firework Pet Safety Strategies:

✅ microchip updated and identification tags on
all of your pets
✅ check backyard fences and keep gates
closed
✅ have a safe and quiet space for your pet with
their favorite toy, music, and/or a sound
machine
✅ go on a long walk in the evening before the
fireworks begin to tire them out

The Best Friend For Your Best Friend

Laketown Animal Hospital is a small animal hospital located in Central Illinois with four veterinarians on staff. We are family owned and operated and have been in the Laketown area for over 60 years. Our mission is to provide high quality health and wellness services to assist your pet in living a longer, happier, and healthier life. We also provide our clients with access to cutting edge products and services as well as authoritative educational content focused on enhancing the bond between humans and animals.

Laketown Animal Hospital is proud to be an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). Only about 15 percent of animal hospitals in the U.S. are AAHA accredited. To become accredited, LAH must regularly undergo inspections to ensure that we comply with the Association's hundreds of high standards for quality care.

Laketown Animal Hospital provides emergency services during operational hours. Our veterinarians and certified veterinary technicians are well trained in the care and monitoring of critically ill or injured patients. Please call our office with any emergency and we will do our best to accommodate. After hours emergency care is available at the AEC (Animal Emergency Clinic of Springfield) at 1333 Wabash Ave. AEC is open 6pm to 8 am M-Thursday, 6pm Friday to 8 am Monday, and all Holidays. Contact the AEC at 217-698-0870.
