This student built structure needs a home. It has many potential uses as it is or you can add to it what you want. With just a wood stove, it could be a warming hut for a snowmobile or cross country ski trail or a starter camp on the pond or in the woods. It is made to go on a flatbed tow truck or trailer without creating a traffic issue. There are skids under the insulated floor to tow it over the ground to set it where you want it. Contact information is at the bottom of the flyer.

I had someone ask me this morning how many families we serve and if there is a cut off for the maximum number of families? I thought those were really good questions. They just are not the easiest to answer but basically here is how it breaks down:
➡️As of 10/27/2023, we are assisting 718 families. For a total of 2174 pets.
➡️No, we do not have a maximum number of families we will assist. Should we have a maximum? Yes, but I absolutely suck at turning away a hungry pet.
➡️Our numbers are the highest they have ever been. During COVID our numbers actually decreased as individuals & families were receiving more assistance funds & stimulus checks. However, all the extra funds ended, housing costs skyrocketed, gas doubled, food costs soared, heating fuel costs took a huge leap up, electricity bills have been shockingly high, rotating pet food & litter shortages have sent those prices up considerably, & homelessness is at an all time high all of which has the inevitable effect of more families struggling.
➡️Some of our clients only come during the winter months when their expenses are greatest
➡️Some of our clients only come every other month or every 3 months depending on their need
➡️Some of our clients might only come 3 or 4 times a year depending on their financial strain
➡️Some clients it could be a one time thing due to a high car repair, big medical bill, big home repair, etc.
➡️Historically our numbers increase in the winter, especially around the holidays because people's expenses increase
➡️When the need for pet food assistance increased, donations also decreased as everyone has been affected by the increased cost of surviving & many business that were once thriving are now barely hanging on.
➡️I am well aware that I cannot continue, both physically & financially, to support the number of pets we are currently supporting which is why we are adjusting our service areas. Effective January 1, 2024 we will no longer be servicing Androscoggin & Oxford counties. Both of these areas now have pet food resources & honestly, they have been a logistical nightmare.
➡️The ability to say "I'm sorry I can't help you" to a pet parent standing in front of you with tears in their eyes, is not something I can do. I can and always will find a way to help.
➡️I am not perfect, I make mistakes, & I tend to help from my heart & not always my head. I like to think I learn from my mistakes & I don't ever want to take the heart out of the pantry, love & acceptance is something we can always afford.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW!
28 Days until Toy Palooza!
This is the first & only event of its kind in this area & we are so excited to partner with BlueFawn to present this fun filled event.

Sunday December 10th from 10am to 2pm, the dogs are going to run wild. Bring your dogs to BlueFawn Training in Waterboro & for $5 your dog will get to run wild through a sea of toys & select their very own toy! Dogs will run one at a time. There is a separate entrance and exit so even reactive dogs will be able to participate in the fun filled holiday event. All Proceeds go to No Bowl Empty 2 Pet Food Pantry to help keep the shelves stocked & hungry pets fed! Help us make this a successful event.

We will be collecting toy donations through December 8th. The more toys the more fun this event will be. Please consider donating some toys. (Right now Chewy is having a Buy 3 Get 1 Free promotion), so this is the perfect time to help us share the joys of Christmas with all pets. We need toys of all shapes, sizes, & durability -tough chewers, little dogs, big dogs. Toys can be shipped directly to No Bowl Empty 2 PFP, 238 Old Alfred Road, East Waterboro ME 04030 or dropped off at the pantry any day.
*Any left over toys will be going to the unhoused pets in Maine. Santa Paws is bringing them Christmas Stockings.

Just because it’s Free….Behind the scenes means someone else is Giving!!! Yes, I do, shut my work phone off when I am at Home!! It’s ok for everyone to have YOU TIME! 🐾❤️🦃🇺🇸

This has been a trying week on many levels, but I accept that, it goes with the territory. As I was sitting here tonight plugging away at a mound of paperwork that never seems to get any smaller, something someone said to me this week was running through my mind and I admit I giggled a little at the ridiculousness of it. One of the many contacts I received from clients this week was from a client telling me they could not make it to Distribution this Sunday or Wednesday, but they would be here on Dec. 1st after 6pm. I responded letting them know that we had Distribution on Sunday and Wednesday, and I was sorry to hear they were unable to attend either Distribution, but Dec. 1st is not a Distribution day. If they are unable to attend this Sunday or Wednesday, the next scheduled distribution was December 3rd. Their response was they were aware, but Dec. 1st works best for them. I told them that I was not available on Dec. 1st, their choices are this Sunday, this Wednesday, December 3rd, December 13th, December 17th, December 27th or Walmart. To which they replied, "nice only working 4 days a month and still get all the glamour of running a pantry". I said, "Have a good night".

So, I thought I would share my glamorous day with everyone:
My day began at 4am checking messages and responding to them, work on some overdue Thank You notes, shower, attempt to make my bed but the dogs were not ready to get up, inventory toys for Toy Palooza, stop to go down and accept donations, inventory the donations and put them away. Back upstairs, more messages have come in, answer the messages, do some promo posts for today's event, stop to go down and accept more donations, inventory the donations and put them away. Prep today's drop offs. Back upstairs to the pile of paperwork, getting writer's cramp from Thank You notes so I set them aside and work on the new the Sponsorship program, respond to more messages, update calendar with meetings, distributions, and events. Plan event details for Toy Palooza. Finalize event and volunteer schedule for remainder of 2023. Finish 1 of 2 grant applications. (Pause to throw some laundry in washer.) Head down to pantry to give volunteer the drop offs then back upstairs to the mound of paperwork. Throw my dinner in the microwave and hit the paperwork again, this time some paperwork for the town commission I serve on and some for the School Board. (forget my dinner is in microwave). Back to Pantry paperwork, already booking and planning events for summer, calendar for 2024 is getting full already and we are still in 2023. (Remember my dinner which is now cold, mic it again and my pasta is now rubber strings but they will fill the void.) And here we are at 12:30AM and I am still here at the dining room table (which has been converted to my desk while my Mother is in California) still answering messages, doing paperwork, doing posts that can be auto scheduled to post throughout the week. My coffee is cold and the ice in my cold drink has melted. My bed is still unmade and I just remembered my laundry is still in the washer. My day will start at 4am again tomorrow, we have donations coming at 9am,10am, & 11am (those donations will need to be inventoried before they can be shelved or distributed to clients), a S**o River Wildlife volunteer is coming to pick up donations, Distribution is 1pm to 3pm and I am expecting it to be busy. After Distribution I will be back to the mound of paperwork (that does not seem to be getting any smaller). Monday the plan is to vacuum before all the dog hair turns into another dog and finalize second grant application. Tuesday morning, I have donations to pick up in Kennebunk, a Dentist appointment at 1pm, a trip to Wag N' Wash S**o, then home to inventory and put away donations I pick up in Kennebunk, then back to the waiting pile of paperwork. Wednesday, we have distribution from 10am to Noon, then I have to go pick up my dinner for Thursday. Thursday, the intention is to remain in my pjs all day and hopefully find the bottom of the pile of paperwork. Friday, I have to prep event materials for 2 events and volunteers are coming to pick them up and I will begin the promo posts for Saturday's events. I can't take all this glamour🤪 but I do love what I do. For now, I will put it all aside and head to bed.
EDITED TO ADD:
I am not looking for praise, accolades, or appreciation - just sharing the contrast between people's perception and the reality, for humor.
