If you looked up the definition of Resilient, you'd find a picture of our sweet girl Nora. 🫶 She was found by a citizen who spotted her running ON the highway just after the bridge leading into St. Charles. We assume she was abandoned there and left to fend for herself. She had an awful case of demodex mange when she came in but is now on daily meds and receives medicated bathes regularly. Regardless of her hardships, she has always been a happy and silly pup here at the shelter. Nora has done well with respectful dogs that also like to play and is gentle enough to live with kids. She's a smaller, stocky gal approximately 40lbs and 1-2 years old.

For any inquiries or questions please call us at 636-255-6400 or message our page. Nora's adoption fee is $90 which includes spay, microchip, vaccines, and more!

Beautiful Vera is looking for a home to call her own. We estimate her to be 3-4 years old. She has the softest "schmedium" length fur with stunning torbie markings. She can be sassy around the cats at the shelter so if she were to be adopted to a home with other pets we recommend a slow, and proper introduction. Our staff can give advice on how to do this with success.

Vera is available for meet and greets Tuesday- Saturday 10am-3pm. Please call 636-255-6400 or message our page for any questions. Her adoption fee is $75 which includes spay, vaccines, microchip, and more!

Chilesaurus appears to look grumpy on the outside but we promise he is warm and fuzzy on the inside! 😍 At approximately 5 years old he came to us with a hoarding case 83 days ago. He was very shy at first and will most likely take some time to settle into a new home but he has blossomed into a chatty snuggle bug when he sees his favorite humans. Chilesaurus is a low energy guy and is very content just sleeping the day away in your arms or on a warm lap. He previously lived with other cats and could acclimate to a calm, respectful dog as well as kids. A fun fact about him, he is polydactyl meaning he has extra toe beans on his front paws. 👍👍

Come visit him Tuesday- Saturday 10am-3pm. Please call us at 636-255-6400 or message our page for any questions. All cat adoptions are $75 which includes spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and more!

Update- adoption pending.

🖤 Meet Talbot. The velcro cat of the shelter. He cries for attention and always wants to be picked up and held by staff. He was found in rough shape outside of a local restaurant one night when our Animal Control Officer picked him up. Talbot was very thin and hungry, missing alot of his fur from long term exposure to fleas, and craving human attention. He is a very easy going cat and should acclimate well to any kind of home with other pets and children. Talbot is approximately 2-3 years old. His adoption fee is $75 which includes neuter, microchip, vaccines, and more. 🖤

Long- timer Anna has proven to be an excellent office assistant! She has been waiting patiently for 231 days. Anna has slowly acclimated to being around other pets at the shelter so we think a home with calm cats or dogs would be fine for her after a proper introduction. Anna is very affectionate and loves to cuddle. She could live with respectful children and would make a great companion for anyone. She is approximately 2 years old and available for meet and greets Tuesday- Saturday 10am-3pm.
Please call 636-255-6400 or message our page for any inquiries.

UPDATE- adoption pending!

🧡🧡Liam and Chris Hemsworth are approximately 6 months old. The shelter is no place for kittens to grow up! Come visit them Tuesday- Saturday 10am-3pm. They are both very affectionate and playful. They do not need to go together but we always encourage adopters to either take home kittens in pairs or have another friendly cat at home they can play with and learn from. 🧡🧡

Message our page or call us at 636-255-6400 for any inquires.

Did you know there is a technical term for “perfectly sized dog?”😮

Well in case you didn’t, the shelter can teach you.. and show you! 🥳

These babies below are the perfect example of the size we call “schmedium”. 🥰

Not quite small, not quite big, schmedium perfection. 👌🏻

Pictured in order is Duke, April, and Remi.
Each of these dogs are dog friendly, potty trained and have ears for days! 🐶
Duke and Remi would be good with kids.
April would be good with teenagers.

All of these babies are fully vetted and ready for adoption!
Adoption fee is $90 and we are open Tuesday-Saturday 10-3.
Come by and visit the schmedium kids at the shelter or call us with more questions at 636-255-6400!

Placement no longer needed

Carter is a 1 year old pit mix that is mentally struggling with being in the shelter. He is experiencing very high amounts of stress and is continuously pacing, barking, and jumping in his kennel. He is so stressed out that he does not enjoy going on walks or being outside unless he has another pup to play with.

We are URGENTLY looking for a foster home for Carter to decompress in so he does not continue to decline. Bonus points if you have a friendly, playful dog to keep him company!

Please message our page or call us at 636-255-6400 for any inquiries on Carter. 💙

This senior baby has a mass on her cheek that has not been checked by the vet per previous owner.

Whiskey is said to be good with cats, dogs and kids. She is very large and a super sweet gentle girl.
She is spayed and will get her vaccines and heartworm test up to date soon.

‼️Urgent foster request‼️

Carter, the handsome blue eyed pibble mix, needs foster. He is one of the newer dogs at the shelter but has quickly developed some intense kennel stress.

We suspect Carter spent most of his life before the shelter on a chain or in a kennel which has added to his anxiety in the shelter.

Carter is such a sweet and loving young dog who deserves a chance at a real life. He enjoys playing with other dogs but does require a meet and greet first to make sure he is compatible. He prefers his playmates to be more quiet and loves to run around in a yard with a friend.

Carter and Petra both would love a foster or adopter and are show cased below. They DO NOT go together but wanted to show off how cute they both are. We aren’t sure how they would do with cats but would do ok with older kids as they love food and would steal snacks from the little kiddos.

Both dogs are potty trained, and are young and fun pups who can’t wait to meet you.

Alaska received ZERO vacation buddy inquiries and she has chosen destruction and chaos as her coping mechanism.

Alaska understands that you may want to negotiate for peace but the only terms she will accept is if she is allowed permanent vacation with her forever family.

Alaska is looking for a home with another playful cat, no kiddos or doggos, and at least 325 balls of yarn to play with. (She isn’t very good with numbers yet..).

Alaskas adoption fee is $75 and is available for meet and greets at her fosters home in St. Peter’s (Alaska isn’t a fan of packing her bags unnecessarily due to flight cancellation risks).

Message us or call 636-255-6400 to set up a meet and greet!

Do you need a little chaos in your life?
Do you like dressing your dogs in cute outfits?
Do you have an over supply of time?
Ramona is just for you then! She is a special needs girl who is sure to entertain you daily and teach you to never let limitations keep you down.

After coming into the shelter underweight, neglected, limited mobility, with infections and with open wounds, Ramona has blown us away by her determination to make every day the best.

Her smile is contagious, she lights up when in a home and playing with other dogs and is quite a stinker when it comes to instigating others to play with her.

Ramona has spent the last several weeks attending water and physical therapy thanks to a generous donor. Her foster parents have put in so much work supporting Ramona to make progress in her mobility but she seems to think we are all just the silliest gooses and she is just fine to zip around with her front legs instead.

Ramona has very little issues getting around and proudly sports a baby pajama suit to help protect her toes from the ground. She gets on and off a couch with ease and will steal pillows to make her own bed. She loves toys and loves other dogs. She is respectful with cats and would love to have kids to play with too.

Ramona was spayed last week and will be visiting a neurologist soon to see if there is any other medical support we can offer her in means of mobility.

Ramona is technically ready for adoption but she is also desperate for a new foster or if by some miracle, rescue tag.

Ramona’s fosters were meant to be somewhat short term and she needs a new foster home or adopter very soon, by the end of February ideally,

Ramona does need assistance with going p**p on a schedule to prevent accidents as that is her biggest struggle aside from her limited mobility but we assure you it is quite easy to stimulate.

We are asking our followers to share her story far and wide as her story and love is one larger than what our network reaches.

If you are interested in learning more or helping Ramona, please message us or call 636-255-6400.
