Switzerland Animal Hospital was established in 1985 with the goal of providing the best veterinary health care to northwest St. Back then, Julington Creek Plantation primarily existed only on paper and Roberts Road was still a dirt road. In the early 90’s Dr. Bredehoeft was an associate at a large veterinary hospital in Mandarin. During the following years, he worked on a part-time basis for the f

ormer owner of Switzerland – Fruit Cove Animal Hospital as it was then called. In 1999, he purchased it and renamed it Switzerland Animal Hospital. He loved the clients and patients and could not have imagined practicing veterinary medicine anywhere else. The hospital underwent a major renovation in 2001. During this time all exam rooms, waiting room, and reception area were enlarged. New floors that meet the highest standard for an animal hospital were installed. A designated pharmacy and laboratory area was created and a new state-of-the-art surgery and treatment room were added. We are extremely proud of the results and we hope that you and your furry friend will feel as comfortable here as we do. Our facility is nestled on a wooded 2 acre lot allowing your canine a secure walk on or off the leash and plenty of “privacy” when the need arises.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved clinic cat, Diesel. Born, April 1, 2010, Diesel became part of our SAH family soon after, when we adopted him from a client who could no longer care for him. For over 15 wonderful years, he filled our clinic with love, comfort and gentle companionship. Recently, Diesel’s health declined due to end-stage chronic kidney disease, and with great compassion we made the difficult decision to humanely euthanize him. Diesel touched so many hearts with his sweet and calm nature. He will always be remembered and deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Rest easy sweet Diesel- you’ll always be apart of the SAH family.
