🎂🥳 Delta turned 1!! 🥳🎂

When you celebrate a birthday in your foster home it's basically the law that you have to throw a party!!

Delta is the sweetest girl. When our Animal Cruelty Task Force brought her to us she was nervous and shy, but after spending time in her foster home she has proven that she is a sweetheart.

Delta has lived in a home with dogs, kids, and cats and loved all of them!!

Delta is still looking for her forever home and we have a hunch that might be her birthday wish 💓

Our next St. Louis Community College Continuing Education class is on Tuesday March 11th and the topic is "The Human Element: Working in an Animal Welfare Organization"

Hobo was born a ramblin' man 🧳🎶

This handsome kitty is a 2-year-old blue and white ex tomcat!
He was found roaming the streets and in need of some medical care.

A loving Good Samaritan stopped to help him out and brought him to us at HSMO in the hopes that he would find a forever home of his own.

Hobo is ready for his next adventure, the car ride home with his forever family! 🚙

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Betty Faith, our 2021 Bark in Your Park mascot. 🌈🐾

Betty Faith's journey here at HSMO started in October of 2020 when our Animal Cruelty Task Force rescued 55 Bassett Hounds from a substandard breeder in Franklin County, MO.

Despite all that she had been through, Betty Faith was the sweetest dog.

She found the perfect forever home with a family that loved and cherished every moment they got to spend with her.

Her family said it best...
"There will never be another one like you, Betty Faith." 💖

Matilda has magical powers 🔮

Our Matilda may not be able to move furniture with her mind, but she can make everyone fall in love with her!! 💖

This sweet 5-year-old Yorkie mix came to our Macklind location as a stray. She was matted and in need of some TLC, which our amazing team was happy to provide.

Matilda made her TV debut on KSDK News with Michelle Li this morning and the camera loved her 🤩

She is as friendly and as outgoing as they come, she greets everyone with a wagging tail and a lick!

Fudge had to get in on this week!

This handsome pup came to us as a stray back in early December. He has been waiting for his forever home for more than 80 days 😢

Fudge is currently living it up in a foster home where he is getting to unwind from shelter life.

Do you have space for me on your couch? - Corncob 🌽

Corncob came to us as a stray back in December, right before Christmas. He started the New Year with us and his goal is to find a forever home!

Just like corn on the cob, Corncob is a perfect side(kick)!

He is a very smart boy with lots of energy who would benefit from training classes!

There's no better reason to smile than one of our long term pups finding her forever home!! 🥳

Pretzel came to our Best Buddy Pet Center back in November 2024 when her family could no longer care for her.

When Pretzel arrived she was very fearful and unsure of everything around her. Our team fell in love with her and wanted to make sure she found the perfect forever home.

We knew she needed a break from shelter life and found a foster home where she could rest... little did we know that her foster home was her perfect forever home!!

After only a couple weeks they knew they were a match made in heaven 💞

Let's celebrate a recent Gotcha Day!! 🥳

Fergie has been in his forever home for more than a year now! Here's how his first year has been:

"We couldn’t be more obsessed with Fergie (formerly Lexington). He’s settled in so well with his big sister Remy + they’re the best of friends. He loves snuggling, playing outside and keeping neighborhood watch. We feel like we couldn’t have gotten luckier with his temperament and how sweet he is. We couldn’t picture our life without him 💕"

Shell has two moods: play and snooze!! 🎉💤

We're celebrating with the adorable Shell, and one of our longest residents.

Shell came to us back in June when our Animal Cruelty Task Force rescued 28 dogs from horrific conditions in a North St. Louis County home.

This sweet girl was in need of emergency care, and our amazing team stepped up provide her the best care.

Shell waited for her forever home in the shelter for a few months, but we knew she deserved some time in a home to learn how to be a dog, and now she's doing just that in her foster home!

She now knows what it means to have soft blankets to snuggle in and toys of her own 💞

Top o' the morning to you! 🍀👋

St. Patrick's Day may be a few weeks off, but Skeeter is ready to celebrate today! This sweet 9-month-old pittie mix came to the Maryland Heights shelter in early January as a stray.

Yesterday, he made his Fox2Now debut and showed off how treat-motivated he is! Skeeter would love an active household with older kids. He has typical puppy energy but is very trainable and attentive to his people.

This recent Gotcha Day update really made our day 😻

"Andromeda (or Andie) is so happy in her forever home!! She immediately took to my sweet boy Cinder when I brought her home - I’ve never seen two cats get along that fast in my life.

She also adores my other cat Lily and won her over by following her around everywhere copying everything she did, and letting her steal a few bites of food from her food bowl.

Andie was very shy for the first few months and basically had to learn from the others how to be a cat. She learned from watching them that she could rub up against my leg, and that when I reached down a hand she could push her face into it and I would pet her. It was so sweet watching her have that lightbulb moment with her first pets where she realized “oh wait… I can do this?! This is awesome!!”

She used to be too scared to jump up onto the bed if I was on it, but now she comes up almost every night for cuddles and pets. My boy Cinder sadly passed away a few months ago, and it was cute watching her and Lily get closer to each other during the period when it was just us girls at home. They cuddle together and give each other baths all the time.

When I brought home another HSMO boy named Arthur last month, she was thrilled to have another playmate to wrestle and run around with. Overall she is very happy and so comfortable in her forever home, and I can’t imagine life without her!"

Our pets truly are parts of our family and it sounds like Andie found a perfect family of her own! 💓

Our very generous and supportive friends at The Daniel And Henry Co stopped by recently with so many goodies for the shelter pets!!
