We will have a much needed dog park clean up/maintenance day this Friday 8/11 from 4:30-6:30 pm. Focus will be: raking, blowing, trash clean up, w**d removal and mulch removal outside the fence line, filling holes, etc. If you are a member willing to pitch in, we welcome your help! Also a nice way to meet other members. Thanks in advance.

Park cleanup scheduled for tonight is being postponed due to the City Social block party on Wash Ave starting at 4p tonight. Hope to see some of you dog parkers out enjoying our neighborhood tonight!

We will keep you posted on reschedule cleanup date!

There won’t be a formal park cleanup today since the new mulch was just installed. If you want to come out - the turf could use raking in a few spots and the sidewalk outside the fence can be swept. Thanks for your support of the park!

Thanks to all our members who came out to help with the 1st park maintenance and cleanup of the year!

We were able to reattach the w**d blocks, repair holes, mulch, trim the trees, clean the sidewalks, and do some much needed general tidying.

After the last wind storm, our park mascot Putty 🐶 took a major beating. So we removed him to clear the park for open running and play. He may make a reappearance after a little cosmetic work 😉

Come join us for park maintenance and community building the 2nd Friday of each month from 4:30-6:30p.

Mark your calendars for the next one on April 14th!

The membership renewal email has been sent out to the email address on file - if you have not received it, please let us know. We are asking that the required steps for membership renewal be completed by January 8th so that we can review and process everything and then mail out new collar tags. The year is coming to a close and that means it is time to start membership renewals for the 2023 calendar year. We will be sending an email to the email address on your profile with instructions.

We are an entirely new volunteer Board, and we appreciate your patience as we navigate getting reorganized and delegating tasks to run the park efficiently. We extend a HUGE THANK YOU to the previous leadership of Michelle and Howard, who without much praise or recognition kept the park running for many years.

In 2023 we look forward to more fun times with the pups, and building friendships and stronger community in Downtown St. Louis. Thank you for your continued support of the dog park - which offers downtowners a vital 'backyard' to enjoy with our furry friends.

If you have any questions or want to know how you can get involved as a volunteer, please email [email protected]

Dog Park Members - a couple friendly reminders:

-It is your responsibility to pick up after your dog. We have been finding an excessive amount of 💩💩 in the park. There are bags in the dispenser box by the front gate. Please keep an eye on your dog at all times, but especially until they have done their business - so that you can locate it, pick it up, and dispose of it.

-Do not give out the gate code to non-members or let non-members inside the park. Every member dog should have the purple LPDP tag on their collar.

Thank you for doing your part to help keep the park clean and safe!

We were informed that a puppy was found abandoned in the park this evening.
Thanks to the members that took care of the puppy to ensure it was safe!

Should you come across an abandoned or lost dog, here are some tips:

1. If found in the dog park, please let [email protected] know and we can do a check of our membership records.

2. If during business hours, you can reach out to animal control to help with the situation 314-657-1500. [After hours number is 314-231-1212 (the police non-emergency line, which is also on the large sign in Lucas Park between the kids’ playground and dog park)]

3. If possible and safe to do so, capture the dog and contain it with care. If the dog is behaving erratically or aggressively, call animal control.

4. Transport to a shelter or vet to be scanned for a microchip if there is no visible ID on the dog. Once you have a microchip number, call HomeAgain to see if the microchip is registered. You can also call local animal shelters as they should have records of microchips of pets adopted though them. (If the police or animal control is involved, they can usually assist with this.)

5. Post to local lost dog website or social media page.

Dog park closed until further notice. Our lock was damaged sometime overnight. We attempted to fix it, but now the bolt mechanism isn’t operational. Sorry for the inconvenience!

If anyone borrowed the broom, rake, and shovel from the park, please return it.

Thanks!

Reminder: if your dog is barking or growling when about to enter the park or if a dog inside the park is barking or growling when you are trying to enter, that’s usually a sign that the dogs are uncomfortable.

The best course of action is to come back at a later time if you were about to enter. And if you are in the park, the best course of action is to remove your dog from the park.

This is how incidents happen- please be aware of what your dog is telling you!!!

PSA: this has happened in various spots around downtown. Please be safe out there!

Crews from the streets department fixed the issue recently, but issues of moisture and old wiring mean it happened before and could happen again
