From Childhood Dream to Canine Expertise

Ever since I was a child, dogs have held a special place in my heart. Like many, I dreamt of becoming a veterinarian to help these incredible creatures. However, life took a different turn when I had to say goodbye to my beloved mixed breed friend. That loss shattered my dreams of becoming a vet, but little did I know that it was just the beginning of my

journey in the world of dogs. Fast forward a few years, and my stepmother decided to venture into breeding Dobermans. It was an eye-opening experience, and as we raised these magnificent dogs, I found myself naturally drawn to training them. At the time, I didn't realize that dog training was a profession; it was just something I did for the love of it. When a German Shepherd joined our family, I encountered challenges that tested my determination. I learned the hard way about resource guarding, often finding myself on the receiving end of a few bites. Yet, these experiences only fueled my desire to understand dogs on a deeper level. As an adult, I found myself in the routine of the blue-collar life. That's when my sister introduced me to the idea of a career in dog training. It felt like coming full circle. I decided to pursue this path with my own German Shepherd by my side, determined to train him not just as an average dog, but as a true professional would. Over the past two to three years, my journey has been a challenging one. I've immersed myself in learning the art and science of dog training. My education has come from hands-on experience, not textbooks. Some may call me a "fake" trainer, but I believe that the best trainers are forged through experience and a deep understanding of these incredible animals. I may not aspire to be one of the greats, but I'm committed to being great for my clients. My mission is to help dogs and their owners overcome challenges and build stronger, more fulfilling relationships. Every day, I strive to learn, adapt, and grow in this incredible journey alongside my dog. Welcome to my world of dog training, where passion meets expertise, and every dog has the potential to improve.

🐾 Understanding Operant Conditioning: The Key to Effective Dog Training 🐾

Have you ever wondered how your companion learns and adapts to different situations? Let's dive into the fascinating world of operant conditioning!

Operant conditioning is a powerful tool that balanced trainers use to shape a dog's behavior. It's not about dominance or force; it's about understanding how dogs respond to consequences and rewards.

🔵 Positive Reinforcement: This involves rewarding your dog when they exhibit desired behavior. Treats, praise, and playtime are excellent examples. Remember, positive doesn't mean permissive!

🔴 Positive Punishment: This isn't about causing harm; it's about introducing an unpleasant consequence to deter unwanted behavior. An example is a sharp "No!" when your dog jumps on guests.

⚫ Negative Reinforcement: It's about removing an aversive stimulus when your dog behaves as desired. Think of releasing pressure on a leash when they walk nicely.

⚪ Negative Punishment: Here, you withdraw something your dog values when they misbehave, like ending playtime if they bite too hard.

Balanced training considers all these aspects to guide dogs towards better behavior while maintaining a positive and respectful relationship. It's about clear communication and setting boundaries.

Remember, effective training should always prioritize your dog's well-being and comfort. If you're interested in learning more about balanced training methods, feel free to ask questions in the comments or share your experiences!

Let's keep our dogs happy, well-behaved, and thriving together. 🐶❤️🐾

Cuevas dog training handbook

Starting pet dog training marker training to communicate clearly with your dog consult with your trainer to train this effectively it is about timing and marking we use 3 words the words don’t matter use something that makes sense to you. we use FREE - Positive Marker means your dog did the right thing in that moment and he is done with that exact exercise you where working on and can get his reward. We use NO - Negative Marker he needs to try again or be guided back into position or be corrected depending on how far along in the training your dog is consult your trainer on the progress in the training. Negative marker do not get rewarded also stay neutral do not get excited or angry it takes time and patience. Good - Duration Marker this adds distance into your positions and training we train a implied sit down ETC. means that the stay is implemented into the position consult your trainer if you have questions on this. It takes lots of time and repetitions to train this effectively consult trainer for more information.
