After careful deliberation, we are on the ✨Hunt✨ for 🏡 for two of the Kansas City Chiefs!

Both will be placed on non-breeding contracts, one has great potential for conformation and would be a fantastic dog to learn conformation with! Both puppies have medium-high toy drive, medium-high food drive, great confidence and curiosity, as well as a fantastic temperament. We believe this pairing would be excellent for the first time mudi owner who is ready to dive head first into the breed!

The Kansas City Chiefs Litter ventured outside for the first time yesterday! I of course had to bring the camera out to take photos of everyone exploring for the first time. Our landscapers are a little delayed on coming to visit us due to the extreme heat we have been experiencing here in Missouri. So our grass is a little long, but honestly it made the photos that much more whimsical and special and the puppies had so much fun. 😍

We usually like to let them explore outside closer to 4 weeks, however the heat index was over 100 degrees in the afternoon every single day the last week. I know most of the US has been feeling the heat too, it was just not safe for babies to venture. So we’ve been making do with indoor exploring and seeing new things!

This past week puppies have moved into a new weaning pen with momma Gaia visiting them and not with them 24/7. They transitioned to the weaning pen perfectly and have had no accidents in their sleeping area (*knock on wood*) with consistent potties in their potty area. They have transitioned almost fully to mush and Gaia is appreciative since all of them have their puppy teeth fully in or close to it! This coming week we can to start introducing hand feeding and introducing a clicker to build foundation skills for training!

Overall we are head over heels for these babies! They have taken everything we have thrown their way in stride. We are so excited to watch them continue to mature!

We do not place puppies on a “first come, first served” basis! We want to build a relationship with our puppy buyers so we can best give you support for the lifetime if your mudi! Our application is extensive to help us learn about your goals and aspirations; and figure out what areas you struggle in training and which areas you thrive. These things help us place the perfect puppy for you!

3 weeks really flew by fast! 💨

Behind the scenes here at Mythic we have been making sure everyone has been healthy and thriving. We have been prioritizing Gaia as she learns and embraces motherhood (finally!) and making sure Hunt has proper support for his healing. So while we haven’t been updating as much as we did with the Fairytale Litter, it is because we are doing all of our normal rearing protocols plus making sure puppies are thriving!

Our little Kansas City Chiefs are starting to develop personalities! We finished our ENS/ESI portion of the first few weeks of life and now we are moving onto the visual and auditory stimulation of their development. We are putting new visual and tactical things in their whelping box to begin their first baby steps of socialization.

They are beginning to show interest in toys, tugging, biting, and run up to the door of the whelping box when they see us. I already see so much of their daddy Shiner (Flying Dog Ranch Mudi) and their momma Gaia. 💕 This week we introduced a separation between their potty area and sleeping area to create an easier transition for potty training. After a few days they are becoming more and more consistent!

We are so excited to continue to watch them grow and mature! ❤️💛❤️

UKC Reserve Best In Specialty Show goes to Rocket!

While Winter holds down the fort at home with Gaia's puppies we made the trek to Kalamazoo, Michigan for the North American Mudi Alliance's National Breed Specialty in conjunction with UKC's Premier event! I am happy to report back that we cleaned up Specialty Day! I will make more posts about our other accomplishments but this is a Rockaroo appreciation post first. ❤️

Rocket not only won the Best Veteran in Specialty Show but also won the Champion Class, officially (and yes I triple check this time 😵‍💫) finishing his Grand Championship! Then received Reserve Best in Specialty Show! At 8 years old, Rocket has continued to age like a fine wine and I have a feeling we are only getting better from here. Rocket is officially:

Over the weekend we got to see Sango and her mom Ashleigh! The drove from Kansas City to St Louis to compete in one of our local Disc Event. Sango is still a baby at just nearly 15 months and is doing great! She had some solid rounds and was not at all phased by the sounds, sights, and people around!

Sango and Ashleigh are working towards their Disc Dog Bronze title through , the only disc venue that titles through AKC! Sango is also working towards her AKC Championship and her UKC Grand Championship. ❤️

Yesterday our first Mudi ever, Rocket, turned 8 years old!

Hard to believe Rocka is 8, he has continued to age so gracefully and acts like he is only 4! He is still the unequivocal leader of our mudi pack and rules with a cool confidence that most mudis only dream about. We have been so fortunate to have Rocket as a trail blazer for the breed, the first Mudi Disc Dog World Champion 🏆, the Winners Dog at the MCA’s First National Specialty, and one of the most versatile mudis out there to date! Having titles in conformation, disc, dock, tricks, herding, and so much more!

Here is to many, many more years to come buddy. 💙🚀

On May 22, 2025 Gaia and Shiner brought seven stunning puppies into this world. After 8 hard hours of labor we ended the day with 3 beautiful girls, 3 beautiful boys, and one angel boy who was too perfect for this world. Unfortunately, breeding is frequently heartbreaking and that puppy was no exception.

Our kennel is built on transparency, we believe that only good things can come from being honest. We are going to go into detail about the difficulties with Gaia’s whelp and first fews days. This may be distressing to some so read on at your own discretion. Hopefully our stories are helpful to anyone who may go through the same situations.

TW: Difficult Labor, Injured Puppy

Gaia had a hard whelp, screaming during contractions, obvious pain during birth, but was still naturally birthing. Our vet recommended letting her naturally birth the puppies since she was in the middle of labor and the risks associated with transporting and putting her under anesthesia was so high. Due to the trauma Gaia experienced she took multiple days to come around and learn to love her babies. We sat in the whelping box with her hours a day, reassuring her and comforting her, feeding her babies when she wasn’t feeling it, and manually pottying them. Finally, after 2 and a half days after whelp she took on her role as a mom.

It’s been an emotional and physical roller coaster, and still is. During her whelp, her second puppy (baby boy Hunt) Gaia was in a lot of pain and attempted to pull Hunt out herself; pushing past both of us standing right there. During this she cut Hunt’s chin, Hunt has been bottle fed and separated from the litter since to receive specialized care. Thankfully, multiple vets are very optimistic of his recovery and he is doing very well!

We hope to be over all the ✨drama✨ and the following days and weeks will be smooth sailing! We are very excited to watch this much anticipated litter mature and hope you’ll follow along with them as they grow and thrive. ❤️💛❤️

The man, the myth, the legend…

We are so fortunate to house the wonderful, iconic Barkley! Barkley is lovingly and almost exclusively referred to as Grandpa here at Mythic. He is the sire of so many amazing dogs in the breed and several big name conformation and sport dogs. Grandpa got his nickname because he is also the grandsire of several of our dogs here including Sága, Khaos, and Kioti.

We fell in love with him when we met him at Graves Farm a few years ago and she graciously let him come be our official couch warmer. 🖤 At almost 10, we adore this old man and look forward to the many more years of couch warming and cuddling to come.

We are so proud of Anna and Calcifer for continuing to show just how versatile of a team they are!

At just over 13 months old Calcifer and his owner have earned titles in Rally, Nosework, Trick Dog, Fit Dog, Video Home Manners, and Canine Good Citizen. Over the weekend Cal tried his paw in dock diving with dockdogs! He wrapped up the weekend with his fist ever personal best of 5’ 7” and a 4th place finish in his division. We couldn’t be more proud of Cal and Anna! Give this boy a little time and maturity and we have no doubt he will be FLYING off the end of that dock!
