It has been a wild ride since getting Rocket. When I met him I knew he was something special, so when Yvette Piantadosi offered him to me I couldn’t say no. My first Mudi, my first conformation dog, my first Rally Dog, the first Mudi Disc World Champion, now my first AKC Conformation Champion, and we still have so many more firsts ahead of us.

Yesterday we took Winners Dog at the Mudi Club of America’s very first National Specialty for his last 5-point major. Thank you so much judge Barbara Pessina selecting him over so many stunning boys. I could not have done it without the help of my kennel and life partner, Winter Kelevra, as well as our friends over at Wodan Kennels LLC and Graves Farm.

It was an emotional day and I feel so lucky to be at the end of this guys lead. ❤️ Thank you to everyone who has helped and supported us along the way. You all made this possible. ❤️

Happy Birthday to Khaos! This dog has touched my life in ways I did not think were possible in such a short period of time. He is everything I have ever wanted from his parents, Rocket and Lily, a phenomenal dog in every sense of the word.

Khaos is as smart as he is driven, he is more beautiful than he knows what to do with, and he is the funniest clown of a dog I know. I have never had a dog under 1 year old qualify for a world championship, mainly because we don’t push for it. Khaos came out the womb serious and competitive about what he loves. I will never forget the day Graves Farm called me and told me that this was the dog for me. She could not have been more right.

Here are some photos from our last year together, along with his current 2nd place tied world record that he holds.

Khaos is almost 1 year old and he has been on FIRE this past week and a half! Last weekend he took Best of Breed for a 4 point Major, it was his second ever AKC show. His first show he took back to back Reserve Winners Dog to two 4 point Majors.

Yesterday Khaos killed it at his second disc world championship qualifier for Skyhoundz playing only a few select games. He ended up having such an astounding round of Spot Landing he will be the 2nd Highest Scored dog EVER in the game for his height division. Oh and another qualification for the World Championship in September.

I could gush about this dog all day, thank you Graves Farm for this amazing guy. 🥰

Tulin is out of our Icarus x Lily pairing, and he is doing fantastic with his handler as a SDIT, trick, sport and show dog. I can’t say enough good things about this pairing and how solid in temperament they all are, and how perfect the homes they are in have been with them ❤️ Go little rockstar!

We had a successful weekend playing with the St. Louis Disc Dogs Club at their Skyhoundz World Championship Qualifier! The Mudi’s walked away with 6 new Qualifications for the World Finals in September!

Khaos and Kioti secured their first qualification spots, go baby dogs! Icarus and Rocket earned qualifications to more games and are looking like they are going to be busy in Chattanooga, TN at the Finals.

We are so proud to continue to double the amount of Mudis in attendance of the Skyhoundz World Finals again this year. In 2022 Rocket was the first Mudi to qualify and attend the Skyhoundz World Finals. In 2023 Rocket and his son Ghost (loved and owned by Joseph Tolsma) qualified and attended, Rocket became the first Mudi World Champion in Disc! Now, in 2024 we have four Mudis planning on attending and the love for the sportiness and versatility of the breed is growing in the disc community. ❤️

Mad Hatter has been doing great! The surgery was a success so far, now for the daunting road of recovery which will determine if the surgery was fully successful. Hatter got to have wet food for the first time in his life last night for dinner and I am pretty sure he thinks that alone was worth all of this hullabaloo.

Cleft palate surgeries have a higher rate of failure than most other surgeries. Hatter has been a trooper so far getting some good pain meds and some meds for sedation to keep him sleepy. He was awarded a Certificate of Bravery for being such a brave and strong baby through all of this. We are so appreciative to Dr Wardlaw of Gateway Veterinary Surgery for your expert work.

Keep the good and healing thoughts coming! This is one special little guy ❤️

We love having relationships with the owners of our puppies! It is so important to us that we keep in touch to hear about how the puppies from our program are doing. Here is an update from Anna in Georgia who owns Calcifer, previously Big Bad Wolf from the Fairytale litter who are now 14 weeks old!

“Calcifer absolutely adores everyone he meets, especially children. Nothing phases him. He watched fireworks while laying on his back snoozing. He is wicked smart, drivey and feisty. Currently he is building the foundations for agility, scent work, competitive obedience, and dock diving.”

Calcifer is Mythic’s Fireheart ❤️‍🔥

We have had an extremely busy June! Puppy raising recovery, travel, and now that we aren’t caring for a litter we are competing more! Sorry for the lack of show/competition updates but here is a massive month long recap on all the incredible things going on in Mythic Mudi!

We started June attending the 14th Annual Land of Oz where Rocket took Micro Dog 2nd Overall for the second year in a row! Along with this accomplished Rocket and I earned 2 Q's to worlds in Micro Dog Open Freestyle and Micro Dog Sport. We had a lot of great competition this year with new up and coming micro dogs and so many new players in the sport of disc. Kioti, participated in her first World Qualifier at the Land of Oz too! She didn’t take home any Q’s but we are still such a new team together and I was so proud of the criteria she held and the effort Kioti put out. It is so awesome to see all the new people and teams discover this phenomenal, fun sport. Thank you to the Kansas City Disc Dogs for hosting such a great event that has become a staple in our competition schedule!

Two days later I packed up Khaos, Kioti, Rocket, Calcifer (Big Bad Wolf from our Fairytale Litter), and Gaia into our van and drove north to Kalamazoo, Michigan! Day 1 Rocket took Reserve Best in Show Veteran at our breed specialty! His grandson, Calcifer, took Best Male Puppy in the Specialty before meeting his new owner, Anna, and flying home to Georgia where he is thriving with his new bitey brown dog siblings! The next highlight was picking up my new adorable puppy Odyssey, who has just been the easiest puppy ever and has brought so much joy to Mythic. We are so excited for his future!

We had so much fun at Premier all week hanging out with new friends, meeting new dogs, connecting with old friends, and running dogs in all their favorite sports! We saw a ton of Rocket and Lily kiddos being versatile and kicking butt at Premier which was so awesome too. By Saturday we had 8 new performance titles but not a ton of love in the conformation ring, which was fine by me. However, we rounded out our trip with Gaia taking Best of Breed for the Total Dog Qualifier and made the cut in a very competitive Herding Group (congrats to my dear friend Maynard Catahoulas for your G1 and Best in Show with Wario BACK TO BACK!). This accomplishment earned Gaia a qualification to the Total Dog Invitational in November! Overall it was a phenomenal trip!

While I was off in Michigan on Saturday, the other half of Mythic Mudi, Winter also earned 2 Q's to worlds with Icarus in Micro Dog Open Freestyle and Micro Dog Sport! So proud of them and how far they have come the past 2 years in their freestyle game! It is always a ton of fun seeing everyone at the Big Q!

The following weekend was Kioti’s 2nd Birthday! This incredible girl is the perfect blend of both of her parents, beauty, brains, and athleticism. She was the most wonderful gift from a most wonderful friend Wodan Kennels LLC. Together we make a pretty great team and I think in a year or two we will be pretty unstoppable with whatever we decide to pursue.

Rounding out the month of June the dogs at Mythic took a much needed off week while Mythic progeny, Sango and her owner Ashleigh, earned two Best in Show Puppy and a Reserve Best in Show Puppy!

All in all was a great month for Mythic, here’s to July! More updates to come!

Lots of lovely mudi puppies being produced this year so here is some…

⚠️ FREE Puppy Training Advice! ⚠️

When socializing puppies I always try to utilize the pet friendly store that are NOT pet centered stores. Why?

1) I cannot control other people’s dogs or other people’s perception of their dog.

If someone’s dog is having inappropriate or rude body language I cannot educate while managing my own puppy. If that person loses control of their dog or just lets their dog up to my puppy I do not want them to have a bad experience. They are going to be around dog and people a lot so if I can make sure they having positive experiences with those things I will do my best.

2) Smells.

Dog stores are notorious for having dog accidents, they happen. Staff and responsible owners do their best to clean and neutralize dog messes but things can and will slip between the cracks. I would prefer if my puppy not feel influenced and inspired by these accidents and potentially think inside a pet store close to a previous accident is a fine spot to unload.

3) “Dog People”.

People with the BEST intentions often can be the most inappropriate when meeting/greeting puppies. In a pet store it seems like people can assume dogs are public property, rarely people ask and usually just bend over my puppy saying “well hello there little guy” and start petting. Not the end of the world but it can definitely be irritating if you are working on training and be a negative socialization experience for my puppy. I might be in the minority here but I have also had people pick my puppies up, squeeze their feet, spin them around, just do generally rude stuff. Maybe not too insane to some but things I would never even consider doing to a strangers puppy.

Now that you have heard about why I dislike pet store puppy socializing let me tell you why I love using pet friendly stores that are not pet stores!

1) Interesting sights with not-so interesting things.

Hardware stores for example have well lit isles of common household items and appliances. People going by transporting big things, usually low sitting carts to generalize some different pedestal behaviors in public, and less distractions in the isles (toys/treats). Plus, wide isles for turning, downing and relaxing, and doing some cookie chasing or toy play if needed. DISCLAIMER: I generally avoid the wood cutting section in places like Lowes and Home Depot but will venture close enough so you can hear it faintly in some parts of the store.

2) Less dogs and less dog people.

There are far less dogs in pet friendly non-pet stores. If people see a dog they don’t assume it is friendly and ask to say hi or pet them. They tend not to linger over dogs and generally are busy so the small talk is minimal, they may ask the name, age, and breed and move on.

3) Predictable Busy Times.

Want to take your dog out but see less people? Utilize Googles evaluation of busy times to go to these stores and avoid those times. Often there are convenient times at these places to go a socialized a puppy that maybe needs some more confidence building or less distractions in public places to work on generalizing. The pet store busy times are accurate but also can have more distractions like dogs, small animal pets, and pets for sale.

Here is a list of some of MY favorite Pet Friendly stores that are not Pet Stores:

Ace Hardware
Lowes
Home Depot
Marshalls
Home Goods
Tractor Supply (kind if pet centered)
TJ Maxx
Harbor Freight

Added from the suggestion of others:
JoAnns
Michaels
Dickey Bubs

Last weekend in Iowa, Sango and her owner Ashleigh started their showing careers in the UKC unlicensed puppy class. It was a great puppy turn out with 5 puppies total competing over the weekend and Sango took 2 Best in Show Puppy and a Reserve Best in Show Puppy! This is Sango’s first weekend showing and we are over the moon with how well she and Ashleigh did! Thank you to the judges for seeing Sango in the line up of beautiful puppies and for your amazing comments on her. Thank you to the Iowa Kennel Club for hosting such a wonderful event.

This weekend we celebrated Kioti’s 2nd Birthday!

We have had an action packed birthday month for Kioti (from the Rocket x Graves Farm’s Black Lily 2.0 litter). The first weekend of June we attended the Kansas City Disc Dogs 14th Annual Land of Oz Skyhoundz Qualifier. This is Kioti’s first big World Championship qualifier and while she didn’t take home any Q’s in her division she held her own and I was very proud of her commitment and performance!

Then a few days later we drove to Kalamazoo, MI to attend the United Kennel Club Premier. So Kioti spent last weekend earning her Precision Coursing Novice and Advanced Title, her Advanced Interior Nosework Title, and her RUSH title. She also got to spend some quality time with her mom Lily, her dad Rocket, her full sister Mixie, and her full brothers Ghost and Khaos!

Saturday (6/22) we had a little afternoon cookout to celebrate Kioti’s birthday with friends and family. She zoomed around with her best mudi friends and jumped in the pool to cool off. Today, Kioti threw down a 34 point day in Toss and Fetch League with the support of our fearless League leader and his team Kioti shirt! This score earned Kioti another leg (2/3 needed) towards her Champion Disc Dog title. Hopefully we can repeat next week and get some great scores in to finish that out!

These new titles make her (pending UKC approval),

We are SO excited to announce our newest import!

Say helló to Odyssey! He is Köves-bérci Betyár Pálinka from the Hungarikum Litter of Nyírségfia Gaia and Kormosvári-Hajtó Bikfic! Thank you so much to Viktória for sending us this amazing little guy. He came off the airplane like he owned the whole damn country, he has taken the hustle and bustle of Premier in stride! We feel incredibly lucky to have him!

We have big big dreams of sports, conformation, and hopefully adding to the gene-pool here in the US. So far he is a beautiful, drivey guy, super sweet, super confident, and has a phenomenal off switch.

We have been incredibly busy this week! Wednesday we said goodbye to Mythic’s Oogity Boogity, aka Calcifer, previously Big Bad Wolf. We had every intention of keeping this guy around because we just could not find the perfect home for him. Then out of the blue we got an inquiry about wanting a high drive, do anything-go anywhere, show prospect! So Calcifer’s new owner flew all the way from Atlanta, Georgia to Kalamazoo, Michigan on short notice to get him. It was love at first sight and they have been a perfect pair! We are so so excited to co-own this boy and see him mature!

Today we dropped Mythic’s Under the Sea, Minnow formerly Prince Charming, off with his new owner! He is headed down to Texas to be an all around farm and sport dog. Minnow maybe introduce his new owner to the world of dog showing however they have big plans for sports and pet life already! It was love at first sight for both of them, tail wagging a million miles an hour and mutual adoration from his new person. It is so hard saying goodbye but we are so excited to follow him and his owner as they start this adventure together. 💙

We are excited to present the puppy we have decided to keep from our Fairytale Litter between Icarus and Lily! This was one of the hardest decisions we have had to make due to the entire litter being extremely nice in structure and temperament. However, one stood out from the rest to us…

So without further ado, please welcome Mythic’s Tale as Old as Time, Sága, formerly Little Red Riding Hood to the Mythic Mudi Kennel! We are so excited to embark on this adventure with our first bred-by puppy. She has impressed us in everyway and we are so thrilled to have been blessed with such a stunning litter that made it so difficult to choose.

And just like that we only have four fairytales left. 😢

Two more puppies flew the nest today, this morning we said goodbye to Mythic’s Keeper of Lost Boys, Calypso, formerly Wendy Darling. She is headed to Pennsylvania to join her new family with two little kiddos and a family with big dreams of dog sports!

This evening we said goodbye to Mythic’s Valiant Defender, Tulin, formerly Humpty Dumpty. Tulin is joining a wonderful family in Utah and is going to be primarily owned by a very talented junior handler with aspirations to show, train, and compete with him!

We can’t wait to support these families and all of our puppies as they embark on a new journey together. Until we see them again we will be living vicariously through (hopefully) lots and lots of updates!

Today we sent another Fairytale onto her next adventure! Mythic’s The Stroke of Midnight, Cinder (formerly known as Cinderella) met her new mom and dad this morning. It was love at first sight and they are embarking on the long drive back home to Maryland!

We are seriously missing this spicy lady and her sister, Sango, but are so excited to see them thriving in their new homes!

All of the girls except our keeper are headed home this weekend! We will be announcing our keep this coming week. ❤️

We said goodbye to Mythic’s Feudal Fairytale, Sango formerly known as Tinkerbell! It was bittersweet but we know Sango and Ashleigh are going to have such an amazing adventure.

Happy SEVENTH birthday to our Rocket! He got to spend the day playing disc with his favorite people and jamming with me in Freestyle. Afterwards we had cake and snuggles and ripped apart some new toys.

Rocket has been a fundamental part of our kennel here at Mythic Mudi. He is the sire of our dogs Khaos, Kioti, and Icarus; as well as the grandsire of our Fairytale Litter. Rocky is so much more than a great sire though, he has been a train blazer in the breed. The first Mudi World Champion in Disc and the fastest recorded Mudi in AKC for FastCat until recently when he was overtaken by a wonderful dog from Graves Farm.

At the end of the day though he is one of my best dogs I have ever had the privilege of owning. He is our first Mudi, the reason we started to pursue breeding, the driving force of our kennel in all ways. The is a great sport partner, beautiful conformation dog, a stellar pet, and so much more. Frankly, there is no way I could put together words that describe just how precious and important this boy is to me. While it is bittersweet to have him classified as a Veteran I know our story has much longer left and I am so grateful he is the one by my side for it. 💙

Happy Birthday Rocky 🚀

The BABIES! I can not believe we are at 6 weeks old! It seems like just yesterday we were cooing over our day old nuggets and now they are practically little dogs!

We have been stacking weekly since about 3 weeks. They have been having lots of visitors, experiencing a lot of firsts, sleeping through our recent stormy weather, and learning all about clickers, toys, and tugging. Soon they will be doing some traveling locally and even more critical first for socialization! We are so impressed with each of these puppies and I know their future owners will love them just as much as we do!

Currently there is one puppy not matching up with the people we currently have on our waitlist. He is one of the higher drive sport prospects and will likely be a show prospect as well. We are looking for a co-own you are interested in learning more feel free to PM us or fill out our pinned application!
