WEDNESDAY ADDAMS
Puppy socialization trips are so important, but make sure to do it in a safe way.
Here are some tips:
⭐️ Bring Treats
⭐️ Keep them on leash and collar or harness
⭐️ Potty your puppy before you go in
⭐️ Start slow! Slow is fast for puppies, give them time to process
⭐️ They do not have to say hi to everyone, reward with a click and treat or a “yes” marker and a treat!
⭐️ Let them explore! Puppy trips are for them to learn and experience a world they’ve never seen before - let them safely investigate new things, they don’t have to walk in a perfect heel through the store
⭐️ Keep the session short - puppies get tired and overwhelmed quickly. If you notice your puppy start losing enthusiasm, excessively sniff and circle (might need to go potty), yawn a lot, lip lick, get extra cranky and mouthy, cower, try to run away, etc these are all signs your puppy is done and very overwhelmed. Try your best to leave before these signs start showing. Best recommendation is about 5 minutes of training at a time
⭐️ Most importantly - Have fun! Enjoy this time with your pup, they don’t stay small forever
Happy Training!
