Trying to wine, dine, and woo the best and brightest to St. Louis without the likes of Katie's Pizza & Pasta Osteria, would be doing so without socks. While there really are no words to truly capture what their establishments have meant to us and the newcomers they've hosted over the years, we took a shot here.
Pro Tip: Katie’s Pizza Pasta Osteria in Rock Hill, Town & Country, and soon at Ballpark Village. So charming, adorable, rustic, and cool, you’ll instantly forget you’re in a strip mall, albeit a nice one. And once you try the handmade, squid ink “black spaghetti” with caviar, you’ll instantly know why Katie is a chef’s chef. Other must-have items include starters like her rendition of toasted ravioli or fried artichokes. And every salad - most especially the artichoke salad - is so good it makes you angry. While you can’t miss the gourmet, Neapolitan pizzas that made Katie’s famous, the fresh pasta selections are other-worldly as well - including favorites like the pappardelle with wild boar ragu and lemon gremolata. The bar, wine, and drinks program are awesome, as are the umbrella-clad patios at their locations. Servers here are edgy, competent, and every bit as cool as the atmosphere itself. Something you might not expect either is that they are amazingly patient with children, quickly adorning them with their own ball of pizza dough with which to play while they wait on any number of kid-friendly delicacies from an equally attentive, patient, understanding, family-friendly kitchen. Heads up: if, when you move to St. Louis, you take your partner, visitors, or family here first, you won’t be going anywhere else. At least not for a while. But better yet? You won’t care.
