Puppies bred at puppy mills live in cruel and inhumane conditions, receive poor care and are then shipped across the country to pet stores like Petland And Puppy Dreams – all in the name of profit. Petland and Puppy Dreams are two of the last remaining retail stores that sell puppy mill dogs. Both companies have been pressuring the Missouri legislature to ban legislation that would ban local gover

nments from regulating pet stores. The public should be aware that puppies sold in retail stores and online are often from puppy mills. Instead of buying a dog from these stores, people should get a puppy from a shelter, rescue organization or reputable breeder. The Bark to Ban Puppy Mills campaign aims to raise awareness about puppy mills in the St. Louis region, change puppy buying habits and encourage proper legislation to protect animal welfare.

This week’s featured rescue is Jude! 🐾 Jude is a Golden Retriever, probably about 9 years old, and was adopted in December 2017 from the Humane Society of Missouri after they raided a puppy mill where he was being used as a stud dog. Jude loves to run, chase deer, chew on Nyla bones, and make snow angels. He is his family’s protector, always by their side. Sweet, sensitive, and deferential to his diva dog sister, Jude has brought immense joy and love to his family. 🐶

This week’s featured rescue is Mater! 🐾 Mater is a 10-year-old Pit Bull Mix adopted in 2015 from Five Acres Animal Shelterin St. Charles, MO. He was found at 6-8 months old, eating crawdads in a creek in Southern MO. After being neutered, vaccinated, and cared for, he found his forever family. Mater loves to sleep, but when he’s awake, he can’t get enough of playing with his stuffed hedgehog, duckie, and dinosaurs. He also enjoys snuggling and soaking up the sun. Mater has brought endless love and joy to his family ever since he came home. 🐶

Meet Lulu! 🐾 Lulu is a 12-year-old Shih Tzu who was found as a stray on September 25, 2014, in Northwoods. Her favorite thing isn’t toys—it’s sitting on someone’s lap! Her love for people led her to become a therapy touch dog with Duo Dogs, where she brought comfort to cancer patients at Missouri Baptist until her retirement. 🐶❤️

His favorite toy is a stuffed teddy bear, and he loves to sit on laps and snuggle. • Current on vaccinations (Rabies, DHLPP/Da2PP, Bordetella)
• Properly socialized for group play
• At least 12 weeks old
• Must wear an ID tag (available at the Front Desk if needed)
• Puppies under 25 lbs AND under 6 months of age can only play in the Small Dog Park or stay on one of our on-leash patios. Once they are over 25 lbs or 6 months, they’re welcome in the All Dog Park!

Meet Bouche, a 13-year-old Standard Poodle with an incredible story of resilience and love. 💕 Adopted in November 2013 at 2 ½ years old through Heart of America Poodle and Friends K-9 Rescue, Bouche overcame a traumatic past. When rescued, her owner threatened to harm her unless a fee was paid, and she endured over 2 pounds of matted fur being shaved off.

Despite her shy beginnings, Bouche has blossomed over the years, though it took eight years for her to feel safe enough to let others approach her. Even now, she’s a little reserved, but her bond with her parent is unbreakable. 🐾

Her mom says, 'Her impact on me is profound. She truly is my child, and my life revolves around her, but she’s far from spoiled. She’s well-behaved, stays close off-leash, and brings so much joy to my life.' ❤️ Bouche is proof of the incredible transformation that love, patience, and trust can create. 🌟
