🐾 Meet Bamboozle! 🐶

Isn't he just the cutest pup? At just 1 year old, this little guy is bursting with energy and ready to explore the world! 🌍 Unfortunately, without enough time outside of his kennel, he's starting to feel the stress of shelter life at such a young age.

Bamboozle is also a hungry little hippo! He’s discovered that the pouches on people’s waists are magical containers filled with tasty treats. 🍖✨

When he's not dreaming of snack time, you can find him happily carrying his toy and lounging in the grass, chewing away! 🌿💚

✨Astoria✨ Looking for a new foster or forever home 🙏

This is Astoria! She’s super sweet, and at only two years old, has lots of play left in her! She loves balls or a catnip toy, but is totally contented to be left at home. Astoria’s a pro at entertaining herself, and we’ve had no problems with destructive behavior. She loves a cuddle and is all too happy to hang out and nap wherever her people are. Did you know our Weekend Warrior program includes even taking a dog out for just a day?! It's so incredibly beneficial for our dogs to spend any amount of time outside of the shelter to give them some much need decompression time. Hobbit is the perfect example of how even a day away makes such a huge difference.
Here is Apshara's account of her day with Hobbit.

I had the opportunity to work from home today so I decided to take Hobbit home for the day (thank you Annie for housing my reactive dog Chipotle for a few hours!!)
This dog breaks my heart. To summarize, he is terrified of everything and everyone and is extremely unsocialized. He was scared of my car, very unsure of my apartment, scared when other people's voices came through zoom, and physically trembled when he spotted my cat. That being said, we hung out for ~7 hours and about 3 hours in, he started to settle and relax. It was so amazing to see this extremely scared, stressed boy finally feel comfortable that I wanted to cry.
I had to lift him into my car and he definitely didn't love the car ride, but didn't cause any problems. He went up the stairs to my apartment no problem. He acted like he had never been on a couch (and I would bet he hadn't), so I bribed him to get on a few times before he decided it was okay (look at the terrified baby!! If anyone deserves a couch it's him!!). He eventually felt comfortable enough to eat his kong, check out Chipotle's crate, then make his way back to the couch all on his own. When he finally settled in, he slept SO HARD and it made me want to cry because I've never seen him so relaxed. He also spotted my cat through the baby gate and did not look interested or react at all, and when i moved my cat closer, Hobbit sniffed him so gently.
I know that when he is decompressed and comfortable, he will probably be less shut down and have more energy, and possibly more behaviors (I know that was true for my rescue dog!). But at my apartment today, I got to see a dog with a pretty broken spirit start to heal. I felt horrible taking him back to the shelter- I have never wanted to keep a dog so bad- but my dog is extremely dog reactive so it's not a possibility for me. I will be very jealous of you but if you have a dog friendly dog, please please consider taking Hobbit home.
Other notes:
-he did mark once when he came inside, I took him right outside after and he didn't do it again all day. no accidents otherwise and pottied right when i took him outside
-decent in the car, definitely seemed stressed and whined once or twice, but no barking/chaos
-saw and was entirely uninterested in my cat, zero reaction, sniffed my cat when I brought him closer (again, disclaimer that I had a leash on him, baby gate up, was extremely careful. would still always recommend slow intros over weeks and complete separation when not supervised, and know that when he is less terrified he may be more excitable around cats)
-so so so snuggly and loving when he knows and trusts you!! a nice warm little weighted blanket
-loves cheese, especially cheddar (yes he got a bite of my grilled cheese)
Please please please foster or adopt my sweet shy boy hobbit. Give him a place to feel safe and comfortable. It will be so rewarding!!

🎉🐾A New Beginning for 22 Abused Dogs: Cleared for Loving Homes🐾🎉

We are thrilled to share a heartwarming and monumental victory for our shelter community and the 22 brave souls who have endured so much. Today, after a long and arduous journey, the court has ruled in favor of these 22 abused dogs, allowing them to find the loving homes they so desperately deserve. This decision marks a new beginning for these resilient animals and is a testament to the power of compassion, advocacy, and unwavering dedication.

The story of these 22 dogs is one of survival against all odds. Rescued from a harrowing cruelty case, each dog has endured unimaginable suffering. They arrived at our shelter frightened, malnourished, and in desperate need of medical care and emotional healing. But with the tireless efforts of our dedicated staff, volunteers, and supporters, these dogs have made remarkable progress.

From the moment they arrived, we have provided them with the care, love, and attention they needed to begin their journey to recovery. Our veterinary team addressed their physical wounds, while our caring staff and leadership team addressed their behavioral needs and worked patiently to rebuild their trust in humans. Each dog has shown incredible resilience, slowly but surely learning to wag their tails again, play with toys, and experience the simple joys of being a dog.

The court's decision to clear these dogs for adoption is a momentous step forward. It recognizes their resilience and gives them a chance to experience the love and warmth of a forever home. These dogs, once victims of cruelty, are now symbols of hope and recovery.

We are reaching out to our wonderful community of supporters to help spread the word. Of the 22 dogs, five were tagged by rescue partners, six are now living in foster homes and 11 are currently at the shelter waiting for foster or loving homes. These dogs need your help so they can find forever homes. Share their stories, their photos, and their journey on social media. Tell your friends, family, and colleagues about these incredible dogs who are looking for a second chance at life.
