✨Volunteer Trainer Spotlight: Electric Sky✨

Our volunteer trainer Michelle calls him her hidden gem — and honestly, we get it. 💎

Electric Sky might come out with a touch of sass (he’s got feelings, okay?), but once he gets moving, he’s an easy, sniff-every-bush kind of walker who couldn’t care less about the chaos around him. Today he was the set-up dog for a training lesson with a reactive dog and absolutely nailed it — total star helper! ⭐

When he’s got big emotions, Electric Sky sometimes channels them into a few glorious zoomies. Michelle just steps back and “pretends she’s working a horse on a lunge line” until he’s done. 🤣 Then he’s right back to chill mode.

If you love a dog with a little personality, great leash manners, and a heart that shines through his quirks — this guy’s your match. 💙

💗 Pink Lady is still searching for her forever home! 💗

This 4-ish-year-old, 45-pound cutie is the perfect mix of smart, loyal, and goofy. She’s housebroken, knows all her basics (sit, paw, lay, up, off, wait for door/food), and walks nicely on leash about 85% of the time — she’s a quick learner and loves showing off her skills!

Pink Lady is a total cuddlebug once she knows you. She’s playful and silly with her people, loyal to the core, and truly such a joy to have around. She’d do best in a quieter home with just a few trusted humans — the kind of person who loves a good Netflix night and wants a best friend who’ll make them feel safe and loved.

🏡 A few notes from her foster:

Crate trained, though lately she’s been a little reluctant (might just be FOMO — her foster works 12+ hour shifts as a nurse)

Non-destructive when left out

No cats (she’s got a prey drive!)

No small kiddos (she’s a mouthy player)

Dog-friendly with slow intros — she’s got a forward play style and needs a little warm-up time

Stranger danger with new people, but improving every day with redirection and confidence work on walks

She’s been thriving in her foster home and would do great in a house or apartment with someone who appreciates a loyal sidekick who makes you laugh daily.

Caramel Crumb Bun came in too scared to even walk — but after just five minutes with our gentle, fear-free vet team during intake, he completely transformed into a certified goofball. 🥹💖

It’s Facebook Friday Takeover and Happy Gilmore is here to say, “Ruh roh! The CARE STL Inn is full!”. Every single outside kennel, inside kennel, and crate have a dog in them. We have already received three dogs in the last hour.

MISSION: Save our Happy Gilmore’s mental health AND get the FIFTEEN dogs living outside into homes before we close at 7pm

💚 World Mental Health Day 💚

Today we’re reminded that mental health matters — for people and for pets.

Just like us, shelter dogs can experience deep emotional struggles. The noise, confinement, and constant change can take a toll — even on the happiest souls.

🐾 Meet Happy Gilmore.
Despite his name, his days are anything but happy right now. He can’t seem to settle in his kennel, no matter what we try — a new spot with a calm neighbor, enrichment toys, extra outside time, even medication. Still, his anxiety doesn’t let up. He jumps, circles, and searches endlessly for peace that just doesn’t come inside these walls. 😭

This is what mental health looks like for dogs in shelters. It’s not bad behavior — it’s a cry for help.
And the only true treatment is a home.

Our glowing girl Skelly Shelly is ready to haunt your home (in the sweetest way possible). 💀✨

Shelly’s been rocking her glow-in-the-dark skeleton hoodie while waiting for someone to see just how special she is. We don’t know why she’s still here — she’s the full spooky-season package: cute, cuddly, and just a little shy with new people. Once you earn her trust, she’s pure affection and goofy joy.

Young mixed breed — we see Akita + cattle dog vibes!

A little timid at first, so adoption events can feel 👻 weird & scary 👻

In a foster home for 2+ months, learning all about family life

Fetch champion with Olympic-level jumps 🥏

Loves walks, jogs, playtime, couch snuggles, and car rides

Daycare regular at — adored by staff & plays beautifully with other pups (even seniors!)

Housebroken + sleeps through the night (alone or tucked in with you 😴)

Has met kids of all ages and done great

Smart as a whip — tricks click fast with her

Still has puppy sparkle but with grown-dog manners

🎃 The only thing missing from her haunted-house heart is a forever human.
