🎉 A Momentous Farewell: Emma Has Been Adopted! 🎉

Today, we celebrate the adoption of Emma, our longest-term resident, who has finally found her forever home with an amazing adopter who saw her story and knew right away that she would make the perfect companion. ❤️

Emma’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. From her sassy beginnings to the warm, loving cat she has become, she has been a cherished part of our shelter family. Saying goodbye feels like the end of an era, but we couldn’t be more thrilled for this new chapter in her life.

Her future is bright and full of firsts—her very own home, her very own person, and a whole new world of love and comfort waiting for her. It’s the goodbye every shelter dreams of, and we couldn’t be prouder.

Emma, you will be deeply missed, but our hearts are overflowing for you and your new person.

Thank you to everyone who supported Emma’s journey, shared her story, and believed in the magic of her finding her perfect match. We did it!!!

🐾 UPDATE ON EMMA, AN AGELESS BEAUTY! 🐾
Remember Emma, our gorgeous 14-year-old tortoiseshell tabby who has no idea she’s a senior? She is still here, waiting for her forever home, and while we love her very much – and will miss her equally as much when she leaves – she deserves a family and home of her own.
Emma has been with us since kittenhood, overlooked for these many years due to her feisty nature. But now she’s changed. Emma has blossomed into a truly affectionate and loving companion with a personality that shines. She has the softest coat and an even softer side for those she trusts.
Emma may have taken her time to warm up, but she’s proving that every cat has their moment. Recently, she’s been seeking out pets, soaking up affection, and even curling up on laps! Every day she let’s us know that she’s open to a world of love and cuddles. Her playful and spirited nature shows she’s young at heart, bringing so much joy to our team.
Thanks to our dedication to giving every cat the time they need, Emma has found her stride. She may have had a long journey, but she’s ready to find her forever home. 🌈 Heartfelt Thanks and Farewell to Sweet Scooby Doo 🌈

To all who sent thoughts, prayers, wishes, and donations for Scooby Doo, we cannot thank you enough. Despite our greatest efforts, we were not able to save this dear little one. Scooby Doo was a very sick kitten, and his illness was more than he could overcome.

The veterinarians believe Scooby had panleukopenia, a devastating viral disease that affects a cat’s immune system, causing severe symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and, in young kittens, often leading to fatal complications. This illness can be swift and overpowering, and we are heartbroken that it took Scooby from us.

For all of you who generously donated, your support allowed us to try everything possible. Any remaining funds will be placed in a special account called Sammy’s Fund, dedicated to helping save the lives of cats in critical need, of which we are sorry to say, there are many.

Scooby Doo will return to us and rest in our memorial garden, a place where he’ll forever play among green leaves and flowers, birds and mice, and the spirits of all the cats we’ve loved and honored.

Thank you, dear friends, for standing with us and for helping us give Scooby Doo our all.❤️

🚨 URGENT: Sweet 12-Week-Old Scooby Doo Needs Your Help! 🚨.

Little Scooby Doo, one of our precious kittens, suddenly became critically ill. He started shaking, became very cold and lethargic, and had to be rushed to the emergency clinic. Right now, he's undergoing lots of tests to find out what's wrong, and we're doing everything we can to save him.

The cost of his care is expected to be around $1500, and we urgently need your support to cover this life-saving treatment. Every dollar helps this little fighter!

What is that sight– far off in the desert? It looks so cute! It’s not a mirage… it’s Mirage!
This gorgeous sweetie is the star of this week’s spotlight post, and for good reason!
She is the whole package. She’s beautiful, she’s cute, and not to mention, super sweet!

She’s a spunky, silly girl who likes to play, and just generally be a gorgeous girl! Check out those big ol’ green eyes. She really looks like an oasis in the wide desert sands.

Mirage first arrived at Animal House in 2021. She was living as a stray cat, and when her caregiver left the area, Mirage was brought to us to find her permanent home. She was adopted, but ended up being returned to us to no fault of her own. If you think this purr-fect cat could be the one for you, come and give her a visit! Today, we were beyond excited to have a group of incredible volunteers from Maryville University here at our cat shelter as part of Maryville Reaches Out 2024 🎉🐾

Maryville Reaches Out is an annual event where students, faculty, staff, and alumni come together for a day of community service, highlighting their commitment to civic engagement and social responsibility. Over 130 organizations were served by the Maryville community today, and we are so proud that we are one of them!

In addition to socializing with our cats (including our beloved Pepperoni! 🍕🐱), they put in hours of hard work cleaning our cat rooms, painting our walls to give the shelter a fresh new look, doing laundry, and even spraying weeds outside to beautify our outdoor space. All of their effort has made such a positive impact today!

Perhaps best of all, two of these wonderful volunteers have signed up to become regulars at our shelter. 🙌 We’re so grateful for their hard work and dedication, and for Maryville’s ongoing commitment to making a difference in the St. Louis community. Thank you, Maryville! 💙

⁉️ THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO Hmmm... ⁉️

Friends, Check out this amazingly beautiful cat! Her name is Sage.

Look at her long whiskers! Her eyes are a shade of green that match her gorgeous coat. Her fur is softer than a cloud. She is the type of cat that gazes directly at you, asking for pets and treats. When you speak to her, she speaks softly back. And when you hold out a hand, she leans into it for rubs and scratches, then rewards you with her purrs.

Sage is 12 years old, and spent the last four years of her life alone in a basement.

We were told this was because "she is mean".

Hmmm....

Since coming to us a few months ago, Sage has spent most of her daytime hours underneath a blanket in her condo. This makes a lot of sense. Life in a shelter can be over-stimulating, and that would be especially true for a cat that has, for years, been deprived of stimulation.

But in the early evening, when things quiet down, she comes out, seeking attention. She'll do the same during the day - all it takes is to say her name and approach her, and there she is.

She is not fearful. She acclimated herself to a routine of social deprivation because someone decided she didn't deserve love. How brave of her to even dare peak out of her blanket! Let alone give us another chance.

But here she is with her look of expectation - for care, for kindness, for compassion, for stewardship. Will we let her down?

You know we won't.

🌟 We had a VERY SPECIAL VISITOR at the shelter today! 🌟

St. Louis icon and dedicated animal advocate, Kathy Leonard, stopped by to see all the incredible work we're doing to rescue and adopt more cats than ever before! 😺 Kathy has been a tremendous supporter of our shelter and countless other charities for decades, and it was such a joy to have her with us today.

We had a blast showing her the latest updates and chatting about exciting new ways we can work together to save even more lives! 🐾

We are so excited to bring you another amazing cat today! Our fur-baby of the week is Minnie Mouser. Minnie Mouser is a cute, silly cat who just loves to be pet!

Minnie Mouser used to be a mouser (Hense the name) at a factory! But now she’s tired of the daily grind and would love to settle down with a loving family of her own. However, if a mouse does happen to wander into your home, she might just come out of retirement. She hasn’t been with us for very long, but she’s more than ready to find her people! She is about four years old, meaning she is an adult cat, who’s come into her grown-up personality. But that doesn’t mean that she isn’t still playful! On the contrary, Minnie is a cat who needs a good play time. While she’s still learning how to play with the wand, she’s a silly cat who needs to get her energy out! She loves being pet and hanging out. She also likes silvervine and a good brushing. She’s so sweet, you can see it in her eyes!

Minnie has crazy-long whiskers which store all of her awesomeness. Her fur is soooooo fluffy! She is as soft as down, and can’t wait to meet you. 💕 BRIGID HAS LEFT THE BUILDING!! 💕 Today was an emotional day at the shelter as we said goodbye to one of our most beloved cats, Brigid. This sweet girl has been with us for quite some time, facing a number of medical challenges along the way. But today, Brigid finally went home with someone who loves her just as much as we do—a wonderful volunteer who fell head over heels for her gentle spirit and the many long, cozy cuddle sessions they had together. Brigid is one of those cats who can melt your heart with just a look, and the way she peacefully curls up with her new person is pure magic. We’re thrilled that she’s found someone who will cherish her and give her the care she needs for the rest of her days. Thanks to our Sammy's Fund Program, Brigid will be permanently fostered in her new home, where she’ll be surrounded by love. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as she left because we are so very happy she’s finally found a home of her own. ❤️
