💕 BRIGID HAS LEFT THE BUILDING!! 💕
Today was an emotional day at the shelter as we said goodbye to one of our most beloved cats, Brigid. This sweet girl has been with us for quite some time, facing a number of medical challenges along the way. But today, Brigid finally went home with someone who loves her just as much as we do—a wonderful volunteer who fell head over heels for her gentle spirit and the many long, cozy cuddle sessions they had together.
Brigid is one of those cats who can melt your heart with just a look, and the way she peacefully curls up with her new person is pure magic. We’re thrilled that she’s found someone who will cherish her and give her the care she needs for the rest of her days.
Thanks to our Sammy's Fund Program, Brigid will be permanently fostered in her new home, where she’ll be surrounded by love. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as she left because we are so very happy she’s finally found a home of her own.

💕 PEACHES UPDATE! 💕
Well it seems Peaches, who spent years in-shelter, is now having the time of her life. She is enjoying her new toy (very inventive we might add....) almost as much as her new family is enjoying her! 😻
Our hearts are very full right now 💘
Peaches, in-shelter since 2011, has finally left the building!! Have a wonderful life, Peaches 💕💕
Wyatt the eye-infection cat, gets a wonderful treat!
🐾💕 UPDATE ON WYATT, formerly No-Name💕🐾
Hi Friends! Remember Wyatt, the courageous kitty who came to us with the worst eye infection our vet had ever seen? We're happy to share that he is making excellent progress! His eyes are clearing up, and there is *maybe* a chance that he is not completely blind, as he seems to watch some of our motions. All of our fingers are crossed!
The worst thing about right now is that WE LOVE HIM SO MUCH...but Wyatt does't feel quite the same. We don't blame him because every day, two times each day, we have to administer uncomfortable eye drops into both of his eyes. So now when he sees us coming, he backs up 😞. But when his door is closed, he is interested in interacting. When we open the door, there's a big no-thank-you from him.
An interesting thing about him is that he is incredibly skilled at avoiding the drops by moving his head quickly and strongly, and with the biggest range in head motion! In fact, he is the strongest and most agile head-mover we have ever met!! This makes a lot of sense given the extreme vulnerability of his head and eye area, due to the infection and his lack of sight. To survive in his circumstances outdoors, he had to be so good at protecting the area that was most likely to be attacked. And he was! He defended himself long enough to make it to a safe place. Wyatt: Brave at War. What an incredibly accurate name you all gave him!
Lucky for us, a couple of our amazing - and calm-spirited - volunteers are working hard to show Wyatt that we are not all bad. He had a delightful moment recently with a catnip banana donated by one of you, his supporters. Watch how much he enjoys it when our adoption coordinator gives it to him! Little does he know, there's a catnip rainbow, a dynamite stick, and some treats waiting for him—all from the same generous gift package. And that's not all! Extra toys were donated for Wyatt's cat friends who are with him in our isolation area, who are also in recove
💔SOMETIMES LOVE IS ALL YOU CAN GIVE 💔
Friends, earlier in the week we rescued a frail cat who was suffering outside, in dire physical condition. We named him Bill.
Bill's first stop was the emergency vet where he was stabilized, and then it was on to our cat shelter where we provided him with lots of blankets, warmth, clean litter, fresh water and Purina Pro Plan Critical Nutrition food, which he devoured.
The next day we took him to our wonderful City Cat Clinic, Inc., for a more thorough exam. This poor guy was combatting so many things. He weighed only 6lbs, was coated in fleas, his ear was ripped, he was FIV and FeLV positive, had an eye infection, URI, and dental disease. Imagine how strong he was to survive all of this alone by himself outside! Our vet took excellent care of him, giving him antibiotics, a B12 shot, and lots of other loving medicine to help him feel better. The next couple of days all he had to do was eat his awesome food and rest.
In spite of his drooling and sore mouth, when you looked at him and spoke to him, he chirped back. He leaned in for scratching and petting and head butting. He especially loving being scratched around his head and ears. He was so weak, but so sweet! For 3.5 days we cared for, and encouraged him. We can't begin to tell you how much we wanted him to live.
It was too late for us to save his life, but he spent his last days warm, fed, safe and loved. We asked you for help in caring for him, and you came through. Thank you.
We feel honored to have cared for Bill. We are so glad he was able to experience human compassion in his final days. We feel sad that we lost him. We also feel frustrated. Bill should never have been outside. He was a friendly cat, who craved companionship. Communities like ours, all around our country, are failing SO MANY cats like Bill. We are in the midst of an extreme overpopulation crisis. More cats are going without medical care due to lack of availability and expense. More cats a

🐾🪣CLEANING CONUNDRUMS: CAN TINA TIDY UP WITH A FELINE FRIEND IN TOW? (Part Two) 🪣🐾
In our last "cleaning conundrums" post, we left you wondering if Tina would have to let Sweet Kitty go to empty the litter pan. Well, we're happy to report that she didn't!
Our dedicated staff and volunteers at the cat shelter have mastered the art of loving on our cats while getting the job done. After all, cat welfare is our top priority, and we spend our days ensuring their physical and behavioral health are at the forefront of everything we do.
Thank you for following along and supporting our mission to provide the best care for our feline friends!

🐾🐱 CALLING ALL KITTEN LOVERS! 🐱🐾
Did you know that playtime is more than just fun for our furry little friends? It's a crucial part of their development and well-being, especially for those in our care during kitten season. Here's why play is so important for kittens:
TEACHING MOMENTS: Play helps kittens learn to focus their natural instincts, like biting and scratching, on toys instead of our hands or feet.
Boredom Buster: Life in a shelter can be dull for active kitties. Play keeps them entertained and prevents boredom, which is vital for their overall health.
PURE JOY: Let's be honest, watching kittens play is downright delightful for us humans too!
TRUST BUILDING: Engaging in playtime helps kittens build trusting relationships with their human caretakers.
KEEPING FIT: Play provides essential physical and mental stimulation, keeping kittens healthy and happy.
On this wonderful Shelter Slumber Pawty Sunday, we can't think of a better way to spend time than playing with an adorable kitten. However, we're expecting this kitten season to be more overwhelming than ever and your support will make a huge difference in our ability to rescue and care for them.
🐱💖 You can help by donating to our Shelter Slumber Party to support kitten care. Every little bit helps us provide the love and care these little ones need. Thank you for your kindness and generosity!

Every day at our cat shelter involves cleaning cat condos, but our feline friends often have their own plans, making multitasking a necessity!
In this first of two posts, watch until the end of the video to catch our volunteer coordinator, Tina, contemplating whether she'll need to put Sweet Kitty back down in order to proceed with the next step. (Don't forget to turn the volume on to hear her thoughts!)
Do you think she'll have to? Share your guesses in the comments, and stay tuned for the answer later today! 😸

😽🌺WONDERFUL NEWS!!! 🌺😽
Friends, this news is making us quite emotional! Last week we began creating a Garden of Remembrance right in front of Animal House This special space is dedicated to honoring the memory of the incredible cats who have graced our lives, some of whom found their final resting place here.
For too long, their memories have been confined, but now they are set free in a garden filled with love and life and birds and squirrels and mice. 💖 Thanks to the incredible generosity of Let your Love grow , an amazing organization, we were able to make this dream a reality. They not only donated all the materials we needed but also dedicated their own labor to help us create a beautiful sanctuary. 🙏
You may not know this, but when a loved one passes, there's an innate desire to return them to the earth. However, cremated ashes can be harmful to our environment when planted or scattered. Let your Love grow has pioneered an all-organic mixture designed to offset the natural toxicity of ash and promote new life. 🌱
We followed a simple process to honor our cats and let their love for us, and ours for them, continue to grow:
Step 1: Raked out our garden
Step 2: Blended the soil and cremated remains using Let Your Love Grow's special mixture, correcting imbalances and nourishing plant life, and spread around our garden.
Step 3: Nurtured the environment with organic materials that release the nutrients locked in cremated remains.
Step 4: Planting our memorial plants...YET TO COME, but we'll keep you informed every step of the way. 🌟
This entire process is rooted in science, providing an incredible way to celebrate the lives of our beloved feline companions while giving back to the earth. 🌎💕
Thank you to everyone who has supported us in this journey. Together, let's continue to cherish the memories of our furry friends and let their love bloom forevermore in our hearts and in this beautiful garden.

Sue will play with anybody. She loves wand play so much that even a 6 ft tall Easter Bunny will not deter her!! 😻🥕🐰
Georgie eating
After getting his backside bath, and receiving flea medication, Georgie was treated to a bowl of tasty and nutritious Purina Purina Pro Plan. He was very hungry! He ate the whole thing and then laid down into a comfy curl and went to sleep 💤.
Here is what we know so far. Georgie is a thin cat with very soft/loose stool, intact, no microchip, and a big hole in his leg…who is very friendly and gentle with people.
We will know more later today.
Big thanks again to Saving St. Louis Pets for providing a connection point for the person who rescued Georgie, the person who transported him, and us! 😻
