🏠BEST WISHES TO FRANK!

Frank’s story started in a window well—soaked from the rain, huddled with his 7 "hot sauce" siblings, far too close to a high-traffic road. A home renovation crew spotted the kittens cowering together and called us right away. Our volunteers switched into high-gear rescue mode, carefully trapping all eight tiny bodies and getting them out of danger and into safety.

When Frank arrived, he was scared and very unsure of this whole “people” business. But like so many of the cats who come through our doors, he just needed time, patience, and a whole lot of gentle consistency.

And wow—did he blossom.

Frank became a playful, sweet, affectionate little guy who discovered that hands aren’t scary… they’re for pets. And scritches. And more pets. The photo says it all: Frank on his cat tree, soaking up all the attention from his person—because Frank finally found his someone.

Join us in wishing this once-terrified window-well kitten the happiest new beginning.
Safe, loved, and exactly where he belongs. 😻

🐟A HUGE THANK YOU FROM ANCHOVY, SARDINE AND SHRIMP!

We want to thank everyone who donated kitten food for our “trash bag kittens" - Anchovy, Sardine, and Shrimp. When they arrived, they weren’t eating on their own at all. Their little bodies were so thin and depleted that every little bone in their body could be easily felt. We had to syringe-feed them just to make sure they were getting enough nutrition to stay stable.

The response to our request for chicken kitten food was more generous than we could have imagined and we are extremely happy to tell you - it is helping!

The kittens are still fragile and have a long road ahead - they don't have a lot of energy and mostly want to be warm and cuddled - but they’ve started eating more on their own since we've received your donations… and they even show some enthusiasm while they do it.

This may sound small, but for kittens who arrived in such rough shape, it’s a big and very hopeful step.

Thank you for caring about them, for acting so quickly to get food to us, and for giving these three tiny fighters a real chance.

You all are an essential part of their journey and we will keep you updated on their progress.💙

🐾 Goblin's Happy Ending!

Goblin came to us thanks to our friends at Full Circle MO Feral. They were trapping community cats to be fixed when they found one who clearly didn’t belong out there — too friendly, too talkative, and badly hurt.

Goblin had a serious head injury, the kind that would’ve ended things fast if someone hadn’t noticed him. But they did, and then we did, and we weren’t about to give up on him. With treatment, patience, and a soft spot to heal, Goblin pulled through.

Now, the only thing that stands out about him is how affectionate he is. He’s healed, adopted, and finally home — right where he should be. ❤

🐾 PEARL AND HER LITTLE FISH ARE HANGING IN THERE
Remember the mom and kittens found in a trash bag? They’re settling in, but it’s been slow going.

All of them are painfully thin — you can feel every bone in their tiny bodies. The kittens are about 7 weeks old but barely hit a pound. We’ve been syringe-feeding them to keep weight on and trying to get them to eat on their own. Their little systems are fighting worms and nonstop diarrhea, which makes keeping nutrition in them tough.

Their names now fit their size: Shrimp, Anchovy, and Sardine — and momma Pearl.
Today we had to take Anchovy to the vet because he’s still losing weight and seemed listless. He got fluids, anti-nausea meds, supplements, and something to help his stomach settle. The good news is we found something he might eat — chicken-flavored kitten food. The bad news: we’re out.

We’ve updated our Amazon wishlist with the foods he’ll (hopefully) lick or nibble - which are chicken-based. If you can please help by ordering any of these foods from our wishlist, they will be sent directly to us to feed him and his family - cats that almost did not make it here at all.

They’ve been through enough. Now it’s all about warm beds, full bellies. We are going to give it our all!

🏠 PARKER'S NEW BEGINNING

Parker's story started under the open sky — found in Lafayette Square Park with his mom and sibling, trying to make it unprotected in an outside that isn’t kind to cats on their own. He was just a kitten - hungry and very congested.

But once he got here, everything changed. Warm beds. Good food. Real care. Slowly, the congestion cleared, his coat shined up, and he started doing all the things kittens are supposed to do — playing, pouncing, and purring like he meant it.

Now Parker’s gone home — to a family that will keep him safe, fed, and loved for the rest of his life. The park days are over for him. Exactly how it should be. ❤

🗑 THE TRASH COLLECTOR WAS ANNOYED.

As if his job driving through the streets of the city picking up garbage wasn't hard enough, rude, careless customers made it worse and this particular morning, he was NOT in the mood. So when he saw someone come out the back door of their home and throw a trash back ON TOP OF the dumpster, he was not pleased. Frustrated and muttering to himself, he walked down the block to put the bag inside the compactor. It looked bulky so he was ready to throw some weight into it, but then he reached for it and it moved.

Startled and leery, he cautiously opened the bag to peak in. Four pairs of innocent eyes stared back - one beautiful momma and three little kittens. Terrified, but alive.
Put in a trash bag and thrown away.

Now they are here with us. Flea-ridden, full of tapeworms, so skinny - spending most of their time cuddling close to each other. Momma is tired, but doing her best. We'll start weaning the kittens soon, but for now we are letting them stay together a few more days. After that they have been through, they need that comfort.

It's unthinkable what nearly happened to them. But because someone stopped, and someone called, they are safe. If you can help us care for this little family as they heal, please do. They will need all of our help and support to grow healthy and strong. We will be sharing our wishlist of items later this week, but for right now we need funds to immediately purchase food, medications, vet care and other supplies for these babies.

They have already been through the worst, now let's show them our best.

💔 Farewell, Sweet Aslan
Today, we said goodbye to a very special friend — our wonderful cat, Aslan.

His final morning was filled with all his favorite things: batting at wand toys, rummaging through the toy box, enjoying Churu treats, and exploring every corner like the curious, confident cat he’s always been. He soaked up every bit of love we had to give — and there was a lot.

When the time came to let him go, it was peaceful. He rested on his bed, surrounded by those who adored him, while we cried our eyes out and told him how much we love him, how deeply he’ll be missed, and how grateful we are for the sunshine and mischief he brought into our lives.

Our sincere thanks go to Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice, who helped make this - the saddest of all days - into one that allowed us to honor Aslan and be with him through his passing. It was soft and loving — just as he deserved.

And thank you — our incredible community — for making this possible. Your support gave Aslan a peaceful, love-filled sendoff, and gave us the comfort of knowing he left this world surrounded by friends.

If you stop by the shelter this weekend, please be gentle with us. We’ll be missing one of our best friends - and wishing so badly that he was still here. 🧡

💔 Saying Goodbye to Our Beloved Aslan
It breaks our hearts to share that one of our most cherished cats, Aslan, is nearing the end of his journey.

If you’ve followed us for a while, you know Aslan — our big, orange, good-natured tabby with the world’s most impressive purr-snore (turn up the volume on the video to hear for yourself!). He’s been with us for years, and in that time has become family to everyone here. He’s also been our smartest cat — he knows how to sit, sit-up, stand, and spin on command. He watches us with a keen eye, follows us from room to room, and has a passion for wand toys (especially chewing through the strings).

Recently, Aslan began eating less, and tests revealed a mass near his pancreas. We tried steroids in the hope it would shrink — but it didn’t. In just a couple of weeks, what started as a golf ball–sized tumor has grown to the size of a baseball. Now, he only wants small bites of tuna and squeeze-up treats. He can have all of them he wants. We would give anything for him to eat a full healthy meal, but that is now in the past.

A vet will come to our shelter so Aslan can stay right where he feels safe — on his favorite bed, in the place he knows best, surrounded by the people who love him. No stressful car ride, no strange smells or sounds — just peace, gentle hands, and soft voices telling him he’s such a good boy.

We want to give him this goodbye — one filled with love, comfort, and gratitude for the years he’s shared with us. To make this possible, we need to raise $800 to cover the cost of an in-shelter euthanasia and help us send him off with the same kindness he’s given us every day.

Please help us give Aslan this final act of love. 🧡
