Nico the Cat Gets a Second Chance!
🐾 This #GivingTuesday, Meet Nico 🐾
We could tell stories of cats surviving difficult circumstances, hoping for rescue and one day a home of their own, all day long—but we usually don’t. Today is different. GivingTuesday is special. It’s a day to refuel our mission, replenish our resources, and ensure we can continue rescuing cats who need us most.
Nico is one of those cats. He was not even a year old when he was found alone, with a lifeless, broken front leg he struggled to carry as he dragged himself around.
Once he got to our shelter we could see that, despite his pain, his determination to seek love and cuddles was unstoppable. He’d prop himself up, trying to keep his leg from dangling, and walk toward anyone who approached his condo—his need for connection outweighed his discomfort.
When our vet suggested casting the leg to see if it could heal rather than amputating or resetting it, we were skeptical. Nico would need to stay still, a tall order for a playful, people-loving cat bursting with energy.
But Nico surprised us all. Week after week, he bore his cast with patience (and maybe a little boredom), and then—finally—it came off! His leg is still healing, and it’s not quite perfect yet, but Nico is well on his way to recovery. Through it all, his love for people and zest for life have never wavered.
When you donate to our shelter, you make stories like Nico’s possible. You help us give cats the care, time, and love they need to heal—physically and emotionally. Nico is living proof that resilience and kindness can change everything.
💙 Will you be the reason another cat gets their second chance?

MRS. PIGGLE WIGGLE NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Mrs. Piggle Wiggle is an exceptionally sweet 12-year-old kitty who was found abandoned outdoors. The cold is no place for any cat, let alone one who wants just one thing: to be held by YOU (or any other human that she charms!).
After arriving at our shelter, we noticed something unusual about her litterbox habits. A thorough vet check revealed that she has hyperthyroidism and very early renal disease. Despite these challenges, Mrs. Piggle Wiggle remains a warm, cuddly, love-seeking sweetheart who is trying so hard to make a special love connection.
We don't know why she was abandoned. Maybe her person couldn’t handle the cost of her care. Maybe they thought her conditions weren’t "fixable." Maybe they just didn't want her anymore. What we do know is that a cat who longs to love and be loved was left in an environment where she would experience neither. That chapter of her life was no doubt uncomfortable, and very sad, but it’s now behind her.
Mrs. Piggle Wiggle deserves every chance at a happy, healthy future. We're committed to giving her the very best care while she waits for her forever home. But this level of care comes at a cost—ranging from $500 to $3,000 for diagnostics and treatment.
This is where YOU come in. This is your chance to be the hero in Mrs. Piggle Wiggle’s story. Your donation ensures that she—and so many cats like her—receive the love, care, and treatment they need to thrive. Every single dollar is a lifeline.

Thank you, Georgia Laidet for bringing her to us. Let’s turn her story into one of love, hope, and second chances! Bonus points to you, our supporters, if know where Mrs. Piggle Wiggle got her name! 😉
Cats like Lillith Need You: Save 2X Lives Today!
🖤 Meet Lillith: A Story of Fear, Hope, and Love 🖤
When Lillith first arrived at Animal House Cat Rescue and Adoption Center, we thought she might be feral. Rescued from a rural animal control in Illinois, she was one of the most frightened cats we’ve ever encountered.
Lillith wedged herself into the furthest corner of her condo, trembling and shivering, air licking, her wide eyes filled with fear. She froze like a statue whenever we would approach her, and during routine medical care for fleas, worms and parasites. She wouldn’t touch her food - wouldn’t even move - until long after we’d left for the night.
For a week, she worried us and broke our hearts. Then, one day, something extraordinary happened.
While gently watching over her, we saw Lillith lift her head and begin grooming her paw. It lasted only a few seconds before she retreated, but that tiny spark told us everything: Lillith was in there. She was worth every moment of patience and love.
Weeks later, Lillith is blossoming. Though still shy, she now allows full-body pets—even belly rubs! She leans in for head scritches, softly purrs, and is rediscovering what it means to feel safe.
This transformation is the Animal House difference. We never judge a cat by its initial fears. We give them the time, care, and consistency they need to reveal the beautiful souls they are inside.
But going the extra mile takes extra dollars, and that’s where you come in.
🐾 DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT TODAY 🐾
Thanks to a generous matching gift, all GivingTuesday donations up to $10,000 will be DOUBLED! That means every dollar goes twice as far to save cats like Lillith.
Your support ensures we can continue saying “yes” to cats who need time, patience, and love to heal. Over 90% of our funding comes from private donations, so your gift truly makes the difference.
✨ Will you help us give more cats like Lillith a second chance? ✨
From cowering in fear to learning to trust, Lillith’s journey wou

⁉️ THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO Hmmm... ⁉️
Friends, Check out this amazingly beautiful cat! Her name is Sage.
Look at her long whiskers! Her eyes are a shade of green that match her gorgeous coat. Her fur is softer than a cloud. She is the type of cat that gazes directly at you, asking for pets and treats. When you speak to her, she speaks softly back. And when you hold out a hand, she leans into it for rubs and scratches, then rewards you with her purrs.
Sage is 12 years old, and spent the last four years of her life alone in a basement.
We were told this was because "she is mean".
Hmmm....
Since coming to us a few months ago, Sage has spent most of her daytime hours underneath a blanket in her condo. This makes a lot of sense. Life in a shelter can be over-stimulating, and that would be especially true for a cat that has, for years, been deprived of stimulation.
But in the early evening, when things quiet down, she comes out, seeking attention. She'll do the same during the day - all it takes is to say her name and approach her, and there she is.
She is not fearful. She acclimated herself to a routine of social deprivation because someone decided she didn't deserve love. How brave of her to even dare peak out of her blanket! Let alone give us another chance.
But here she is with her look of expectation - for care, for kindness, for compassion, for stewardship. Will we let her down?
You know we won't.

💕 BRIGID HAS LEFT THE BUILDING!! 💕
Today was an emotional day at the shelter as we said goodbye to one of our most beloved cats, Brigid. This sweet girl has been with us for quite some time, facing a number of medical challenges along the way. But today, Brigid finally went home with someone who loves her just as much as we do—a wonderful volunteer who fell head over heels for her gentle spirit and the many long, cozy cuddle sessions they had together.
Brigid is one of those cats who can melt your heart with just a look, and the way she peacefully curls up with her new person is pure magic. We’re thrilled that she’s found someone who will cherish her and give her the care she needs for the rest of her days.
Thanks to our Sammy's Fund Program, Brigid will be permanently fostered in her new home, where she’ll be surrounded by love. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as she left because we are so very happy she’s finally found a home of her own.
